  1. What Xaearth said. Of course, if you have yourself a good group or a guild, it really removes a lot of the burdens of playing at end-game. My guild isn't focused on either PvP or PvE, but we have groups of both going. I'm in the core group of raiders right now because, well, the group I ran HMs with pretty much started it, and that group consists of 2 operatives, a powertech and a juggernaut. I imagine it's harder to play the operative in all situations -- particularly since boss encounters are generally melee-unfriendly -- but if the group you're with like you and know they can count on you, then they'll turn to you before they go to a sorc with awesome deeps but horrendous attitude. Admittedly, I'm kind of a glutton for punishment, so I'll be playing my operative regardless of nerfs. That said, it'll come full circle soon enough. It always does.
  2. Because I'm somewhat competitive, I also have fun beating my own previous record. I enjoy seeing my improvement from week-to-week. But that's besides the point. I play an operative. DPS/Healing meters would have been great to have before nerfs and balancing fixes came out because it would really be nice to back up or refute claims that Operatives suck/don't suck in FPs and Operations. As it is, our complaints are speculative because we can't say for sure that pre-change, we were doing this much damage while we're doing such-and-such now. Oh sure, it FEELS different, but is it really different? It is because of this negative attitude you have that you can't seem to see any kind of value to having meters available to players. I have knives in my kitchen. Do you really think that because I can use them to harm other people that that's all that I'm going to use them for? Is that a good reason to keep people who'd use them constructively from having them?
  3. On one hand, I see the point of the OP. On the other, the trash mobs in the game (I'm talking raids, though) aren't really groups that require too much tanking to begin with. Our tank pretty much gathers them up specifically so that the rest of us (healers included) can AoE them (knockback and all) anyway.
  4. You group pro-meter people in one, when in reality, there are several reasons for why anyone would want it to begin with. Some want it because they need to measure e-peen. Others, like me, want to compare my performance with a couple of factors in mind: other peoples' performance, both from my class and against others who have a similar role; and my own performance now compared to last week's or last night's. If Joe Schmoe and I were using the same spec and were wearing the same gear, then what forces were at play that allowed him to perform much better than I did? Did I happen to get knocked back when he didn't? Is he using a skill that I didn't think held much value? Not publishing the info is up to the group, its leaders or the players. I personally don't care if results are public or not, so long as the information isn't put out willy-nilly. And it's easy enough for the group leader to put that out. "No posting meters unless [insert conditions here] else you're out of the group." There are several solutions to the e-peen problem that you're so against but you're largely unwilling to deal with it. Good tools are not the problem. People using them are.
  5. I don't believe it's a full minute for players, but it's still a long time in terms of PvP. 10 seconds-ish? There was discussion about OS (and other "useless abilities") in another thread somewhere and it was pointed out that it's a great area denial tool for the same reason. You don't necessarily even have to complete casting it. People hear the sound or see the animation and they scatter.
  6. This is true. BH in general don't get to sleep around in general. Certainly not as much as an agent does. Edit for too many generals.
  7. So much this. Girls have needs too, you know. I was really looking forward to sleeping around with my female agent as I did with my male. Well, at least seeing what my options were.
  8. There is rationality in this comment that makes me want to tell you to ****. Just sayin'. It's true, though. The game graphics/animations play some great mind games on people.
  9. Look up. IIRC, the targets you're supposed to paint are up higher somewhere. You don't actually have to get to them. You can target them from a distance. Of course, ignore me if I'm talking about the wrong quest. It's been a few weeks.
  10. I'd be happy if AB just applied to BS automagically, with the current energy cost. Part of the issue of losing energy from AB (for me, at least) is that it's spammable, while the skills to use it are not. I've more than once accidentally hit it two or three times because I missed the animation for it or something.
  11. I don't see how it was a stealth nerf. If you were reading the forums, you knew it was coming. Edit: Now that I got some sleep and am thinking again -- the nerf wasn't just to operatives. It was a blanket surge nerf. TO EVERYONE. We're having a hard time, sure, but poor healers are sucking too. That said, WOW, the damage loss is awful. Did normal EV tonight with some of our new guys and my crits are about 25-45% less than what they used to be. No solid numbers here, of course, since we have no parsers, but when I found out about the upcoming surge nerf, I started keeping track of my crit numbers. Last week, in HM EV, about 3800-4500 on the standard knife attacks. Today, 2500-3200 on normal boss fights. I'll have to check again tomorrow when we do HM.
  12. Well, yeah, I gathered that much. I was speaking strictly in terms of healing abilities. If I want a DPS companion, I'd just pull Vector or Temple out rather than make Lokin be a rak.
  13. Sins/shadows don't have a stealth detection talent, but they do have a stealth increase talent, similar to Infiltrator (Obfuscation). Both can increase stealth levels by 3 points but Scouting only increases by 2. It's possible that their stealth level is higher than what Scouting can do for you. Bounty Hunters have a stealth detection talent (Infrared Sensors) that functions similarly, at least for the stealth detection portion. My other half has it and he's often spotted stealthers at shooting distance (~30m?).
  14. My understanding is that all healer companions are the same. Lokin, however, is pretty lacking in gear when you first get him. He doesn't even have a weapon. I hardly used him on my operative, since I could heal myself so I just used a tank or DPS companion so I could Backstab all I want. I gave him my leftovers when I started raiding, though. I thought I'd miss out by not having a tank because of Backstab positioning, but it's not as bad as I thought. He carbonizes bad guys so I can still get behind them to BS/Acid Blade. My sniper, on the other hand, is using him for leveling since I don't have heals on that character. I knew this was coming so I started collecting stuff for him, as well as saving older stuff to put on him when I got him. It's worked out well so far.
