  1. Sorry, had a total Derp moment...thats what i get for playing and forum surfing at the same time
  2. Wow...that is interesting. Im working on getting my champion gear now. Have almost enough coms to buy but havent yet...i think this is what im gonna do
  3. If you read the description of power it is used mostly as effectiveness of companions. So to answer your question, I would focus more on getting surge and alaricity rating up (expertise if you're looking to PVP) rather than your Power...especially since Ops and HM's are run with other players rather than your companions.
  4. It honestly depends on what you'll be doing more. If you're pvping more ya id go with the second option because PVP armor benefits you in PVP more so than PVP armor. If you're mostly PVE, the PVE (option 1) armor is better. You should also consider the overall stats on the items rather than just strictly the bonuses they give you.
  5. I used this guide: http://dulfyforce.wordpress.com/2012/01/12/sith-sorcerer-healing-guide/ I know its for a sorc, but its all the same stat wise and you just have to do a bit of translation for the skills. Theres also an XLS spreadsheet on there in which you can input values of different stats and see their effect on your skills/damage output etc which is extremely useful...again, just have to toy with translating it to a sage.
  6. Its really situational. Lets look at it this way: It heals 1% of total health with 2 points--my sage has about 13.5k health half pvp geared at lvl 50. So lets just assume that your WM hits crits half the time...which is probably a pretty generous estimate unless you have HUGE crit multipliers and a really high Expertise rating. If WM hits 10 times and 5 are crits then: .001 * 13500 = 135 (health it restores on each crit) * 5 = 675 health restored total for that WM. We can also factor in Mind Crush assuming its DoT part hits for 2 more crits now = 945 give or take. Now consider this: Unless youre using Mind Crush proc'd with presence of mind so it is instant, it takes you 2 seconds to channel Mind Crush. Even if you proc it, it will take you around 1 second to use both WM and Mind Crush for generously 1000 - 1200 heals. In approximately that same time you could cast benevolence on yourself ~900-1100 at lvl 9 (if i remember correctly, i cant log in now to double check that, but i do know it heals well over 1500 for me when I cast it). So in roughly the same amount of time you could heal yourself with one skill more than the 1% heals back would do to you. Furthermore, you could just grab a reusable medpack and hit it to heal up quick. I've toyed around with this skill, as well as Concentration to replenish my force, and neither seem like an effective use of skill points to me. For the same 2 points you could get TK defense that gives your force armor 20% more absorption which is EXTREMELY useful, or Critical Kinesis which increases your crit chance to get more procs off TK wave. In my opinion its not a useless skill, but in the scope of other skills you could get for what it actually does it becomes one that you can overlook for a better skill and make up for it with a channeled heal or a medpack.
  7. As far as your rotation goes your starting it with a skill that takes ~3 seconds to channel...definitely not a good idea. I would change it up to: Weaken Mind > TK throw (to get proc of PoM > Instant mind crush > FiB > TK throw to get nother proc > TK Wave > Project > TK throw. I use a similar build and rarely ever hit disturbance. The ONLY time i use it is if i get another PoM proc on the last TK throw and my TK wave or WM is still on cooldown/DoT'ing the target, then I start the rotation over. As far as your spec goes there are a few errors: You dont really need Minds Eye, focused insight, or concentration at all. They're not really doing you much in the long run and there are much better skills you could be using. I'm not thoroughly convinced having Tidal force is worth it. I've played builds with and without it--it almost seems you need to take it and use TK Wave > PoM Disturbance > Tidal Force (changing up the above rotation some) or not use it at all. I find that going further up the balance tree winds up doing you more damage in fights rather than having Tidal force. What you NEED and dont have is: Inner Strength, Psychic Projection, TK Defense, and Critical Kinesis (Psychokenesis on Torhead). Here is what i would change your current build to: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#600ZfcMMdMZcrcRsMk.1 and this at lvl 50: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#600ZfcMMdMZcrcRsMkR.1 This is very similar to the Hybrid DPS build that I was running for at least a month and was very successful with it. As far as your survivability question, it really just depends on how you play and how good you are at PVP. Hybrid specs can be very very good if played correctly or fall short on both the overall damage/survivability side if you're not properly geared and dont know how to play it very well. I have been toying around with builds for a while trying to find what I liked best--I am currently running this build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#600hZf00MZcrcRsrkrcz.1 and have found that I'm pumping out more damage, dying less, and generally doing better in PVP with it. It relies more on DoT's/Debuffs rather than straight up attacks like the hybrid build. This may not be due solely to the build though, I havent actually run damage calculations on it. A good spec is invaluable in PVP, but more than that being good at PVP is going to help you most. Your respecs get reset every week, so play around with it until you find a good build that you can use most effectively.
  8. Ive got a low level smuggler on Ajunta Paul and am loving it. There are generally a good number of people on (obviously more in the evenings), people are talkative, friendly and fun. I cant speak for the other two servers personally though.
  9. It works the same way with Relics IE: if you have a LS relic equipped for Light Lvl 1 and drop below it, it greys out like you said and you can no longer use it for its active and the stats are no longer applicable (just tested it). I'm assuming it works the same way with the lightsaber crystals--if they're greyed out you dont get the benefits of the crystal slot...which really isnt that big of deal if you REALLY want the opposite sided crystal.
  10. So, I am using this build currently: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#600GzrRZfc0MzZfrcokzz.1 as a all around PvE/PvP semi heal/DPS build and it has worked well for me up to level 50 when I switched to a much heavier PvP/HM/OP player. I believe my skills are spread too thin right now for good damage in PvP and good heals in both PvP and PvE...I'm doing all right but looking to respec to a straight high DPS build. Right now this is the build (with lots of research) that I have come up with: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#600ZdcMrdRZfrcosMk.1 It focuses mainly on DoT's and Debuffs with FiB. I will be casting TK Throw and TK Wave as main abilities (when TK throw is on instant from either PoM or TF) and casting instant Mind Crush when target isnt already marked with it via PoM. My question lies with where to distribute the last two points. I have done a lot of research and still am not quite sure. The build focuses a lot on quick CD and quick casting CC abilities (instant lift, extra duration snap etc) so would it be best to throw the last two into Kinetic Collapse and have the group CC from it, or pump more damage with Drain Thoughts on WM? With KC i know the CC would be situational at best and kind of luck with how many people I am able to CC and such. In all honesty I have 3 quick cooldown CC's and could probably use them to escape just as well as necessary. Plus KC is fairly useless against ranged unless i force speed to them before it breaks (which i could just as easily save to force speed away after using another CC on them in order to escape). With Drain Thoughts, i would pump out 15% extra damage on WM which would add up to quite a bit, but wouldnt have that extra AoE CC that could save my *** quite often. I'm kinda at a loss as which to pick or whether to split them. So thoughts? suggestions? Anything you can offer would be appreciated! Thanks guys *EDIT* Realized I had linked to the wrong build for the build I wish to switch to.
  11. Ya, its completely viable. Like he mentioned just use Qyzen and heal/bubble him a lot and keep him well geared. I leveled to 47 basically on my own this way (with the exception of some FP's and Heroics), some bosses will be hard to solo simply because Qyzen doesnt have the best damage output and you run out of force trying to help plus heal, so you may need a bit of help there but these bosses are few and far between. The one major upside to playing this way is you rarely die as well. Even on the off chance that Qyzen dies you can alternate between heals on yourself and DPS to kill of the few remaining enemies. The one huge problem (for me at least) playing this way is: 1) fights often become slow and monotonous as you rarely do much fighting rather are just healing and 2) that . For these reasons I wound up switching to a Heals/DPS hybrid able to keep both me and companion alive as well as help out the aforementioned spoiler tags well enough to keep the companion in my party. The one major upside to playing Heals or Heals/DPS over straight DPS as well is the always high demand for healers amongst group ops (FP's, heroics, etc) and in PvP (although you may consider the hybrid build for better PvPing) Hope it helps, Frank
