  1. Anyone on the 6th month subscription plan, or 3 month plan, or has been subscribed since launch will have their renewal period in about a week. Those who launched with the headstart will have theirs ending probably yesterday through Friday. Mine ends on Wednesday. Pre-ordered, have been a loyal subscriber since the beginning. Considering how few NEW players we've recieved, you fall into either one of two camps. Those who have been subbed since launch or those who have left/rejoined/are new. Most of the people I've talked to have their subscription renewal coming up this week. I too find it conveniently interesting that both the announcement at Gamescon and the new world event are falling just after most people's subscriptions are to end. Kind of like the free month we were awarded was only available AFTER my 3 month sub renewed.
  2. If it is a new event, expect it to start after the scheduled maintainance\patch. .. but I agree. My sub is up in a few days time and, having seen no new content, was unlikely to resub. While a world event is only a small drop in the bucket, it's at least something they can and should do more often.
  3. You can pick up a copy of the Collector's Edition from retail stores for about $30, when most of us payed around $150 for it at launch. ... its kinda what happens after a game has been around for a while. It's also what happens when a price drop occurs.
  4. I wondered about that at one point too. I collected every Matrix Shard on my first character and had planned to make 2 cubes for them only to realize there was no point to having anything aside from 3x of one color. While I agree it would be nice, I understand the design decision to have only 1 Matrix Cube relic at a time. Still, it wouldn't be a bad idea to add something that rewards players for gathering the other shards. Possibly enhancing their existing cube in some way via another lost relic or device. It would provide both an interesting story element that could be added to something else as well as another gear/stat type reward. For the record, I was thinking of something along the lines of for every so many extra shards you have in your bag that are fed into this machine it would make the Matrix Cube's stats a little stronger.
  5. Still holding onto Rakata and now Black Hole grade Armorings that cannot be used on droid parts. ironically, when you open up a moddable core piece to add a moddable component, the wireframe model in the background is a chest piece. This is still an issue. I know most players probably aren't using SCORPIO or the JK & Trooper droid companions so it doesn't really affect them. However, once HK-51 launches this will become a concern for everyone and complaints will be all over the place. Unless no one plans to use HK-51 as a companion and has no intention of gearing him up.
  6. Wow, now that's a bomb to drop. Especially after stating yesterday that there is no information to provide about when said transfers will be available. This goes back to the community complaining that the information provided is both confusing and infuriating.
  7. I love when this comes up because people whine and complain but don't stop to think. Maybe the guy who "stole" your node thought you weren't on the quest. The quest is a multi-part chain. Someone can be on part 1 - just killing - and not be eligible to click. If you are on part 2, you can click WHILE IN COMBAT. So engage, then click. Don't whine in general chat or on the forums. Don't expect a dev to fix something that is clearly a comprehension issue. Figure out how the mechanics in the game work and use them. The only valid argument would be for quest objectives that are unclickable during combat (which are thankfully few) and harvesting nodes. Harvesting nodes has been a non-issue since late July when they patched in the ability to allow you to harvest while in combat. Don't whine. Don't cry. Just F'in play.

  9. Throw in a $40 laptop stand/cooler and you should be fine. My wife regularly games from her laptop so we can play in the same room together (not swtor though), and even with a beefier machine it runs hot when playing for any serious length of time. Pick one you like and go with it. Our two favorites: Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N700 Pro: lap comfort, external speakers Cons: cooling is acceptable but not great, no extra USB ports Antec Notebook Cooler Stand Pros: design is better at heat dissipation, removable/replaceable fan (with some effort), great on a desk/table, cable management Cons: not designed for laps, no extra USB port Ask 20 people to recommend a laptop cooler/stand and you'll probably get 15 different answers. If you plan on gaming for more than a few hours at a time from a laptop, additional cooling would be a good investment.
  10. Setting files (UI layout basically) can be found at: C:\Users\ [Yourusername] \appdata\Local\SWTOR\swtor\settings\GUIProfiles appdata is a hidden directory so if you cannot see it you will need to "Show all Files and Folders" in your folder settings.
  11. At the moment, all we know for sure is that HK will be available sometime later this year (from E3 video). When asked in a recent Q&A if we could be given some hints at how to unlock him, BioWare responded with this: HK-51 was available in the Beta but removed from launch. If the previous quests/location hold any indication the mid-level character possibly means they will need to be able to access Hoth. Granted this is speculation but makes sense given what little we know so far. As far as which toon gets it... good question. He could be a "Legacy" companion or he may need to be unlocked by all characters, though I doubt it. At this point there is no way to know for sure though I think it's safe to say we all hope he will be unlocked for all characters on a server. .... now if only they can change it so datacrons are collected for all characters on a legacy. I'm getting tired of collecting them over and over.
  12. Kept all character names and Legacy name. Then again, I tend to use names that are not based on common words, phrases or names.
  13. In regards to Illium: They tried to fix it. They tried to fix it ALOT. Several weeks and months of patches and revisions and changes and nerfs and tweaks. At this point, it's safe to assume not only are new ideas are needed but players aren't interested in tweaks. When they reopen Illum, we want it to WORK. So where can they best spend their time and creative energy? New content or beating their heads against a brick wall where their creative ideas are already spent? In regards to Makeb: When did they say it would be launched? If I remember correctly, it was announced in their grand year-sweeping updates video. All we know is Sometime This Year which is probably further out than Soon. Will we probably see Makeb before an Illum fix my hunch is yes but I wouldn't put money on that. Your frustration is valid. Illum was/is a great idea and we need something like that in the game. Will I be willing to wait till the end of the year to see all the wonderful things they have planned, both announced and not, I dunno. Probably, but a lot can happen between now and Soon. I guess the point is, can you wait for them to reintroduce Illum or Outlaw's Den (you know, that OTHER open world PVP area no one remembers) or have you already hit your breaking point?
  14. I suspect the remaining servers were some of the highest pop of the lower servers. I know Space Slug had a fairly healthy server population back when others were struggling. We too aren't on the lists anywhere. Either they are going to roll us together to a brand spanking new server or someone is going to end up as a destination. It all depends on what the new post transfer numbers tell them. I agree though, the waiting to know is frustrating.
