  1. Combat Medic (PvE) 1) Largely negative perception of the spec, most would prefer a Sawbones or Seer over a Combat Medic. Overwhelmingly positive perception in my guild after having healed them through all content on all difficulties. Appears to be very few Combat Medics running about, might just be a personal observation. 2) Highly powerful and somewhat fast single target healing, but feels largely dependent on crits unless spamming AMP/MP during Supercharged Cells, which in itself is far riskier than it was Pre 1.2 (an understandable change, however) AoE healing is horrible and unreliable, seeing as Kolto Bomb crits targets individually (rather than all or none). Proximity based healing as opposed to smart healing can be greatly frustrating, especially in a melee heavy environment where the tank may or may not receive the heal and its buff. Damage reduction from Supercharged Kolto Bomb and Armor Screen from AMP is nice, no complaints there. Ammo management can be punishing or annoying at times, but it isn't impossible to do. I've healed every Ops encounter on every available difficulty with great success. Healing high, sustained damage can prove to be problematic without a proper heal over time ability, even with the damage reduction talents (Trauma Probe is underwhelming given the ammo cost, one ammo cell would be nice). Also, alacrity. It just doesn't seem to be that great of a stat for combat medics with how their ammo management functions. If it increased the number of ticks Hammer Shot put out, or increased our ammo regen by a small amount, it would be great. ...Speaking of Hammer Shot, it would be fantastic if it was less obvious. I loathe PvPing because my filler heal is a huge "KILL ME NOW" beacon.
  2. E-313 Heavy Repeating Disruptor Plus-side to this is it's available the second you land on Tatooine and can be purchased with Credits
  3. Adding to what Soltrooper said, if you're specced into muzzle fluting, you can probably squeeze out 5-9 charged bolts before supercharged bolts expires depending on your alacrity and whether or not you have the 2 piece set bonus. While this may not seem like a problem, you'll be far more useful in cases where you should DPS, such as certain phases during the Soa and Kephess encounters. Basically, you'll be putting yourself at a slight disadvantage for cosmetic reasons, but you can do it if you really want to though. It certainly won't affect your ability to heal.
  4. Basically what marshmallow said, and all three tanks have a gap closer. Shadows can force speed, Guardians can force leap, and Vanguards can storm. (and whatever the ability equivalents are for their mirrors).
  5. It does make it harder on the defending team, but the result is less stalemates at the doors. As a gunslinger, I could prevent any caps at all by walking between both doors and hitting Sweeping Gunfire right on the middle. The only time this fails is when people see the flurry of black-blue bolts flying at the door and focus fire on me, but then I just revive, walk down, and repeat. Personally, I don't mind the change. Makes defending more interesting to me. Also means that preventing the offense from passing the first doors is an impressive feat and requires a little more team effort/cooperation, as opposed to the work of one or two people spamming AoEs from the middle of the map while everyone else makes it a deathmatch.
  6. The price of Zal Alloy and Durasteel has nearly tripled on my server after 1.3, simply because everyone bought the cheap auctions right away to craft greens in order to obtain augment components, so that might contribute to the cost of mats recently. Pretty much all grade 6 mats skyrocketed in price during the augment kit frenzy.
  7. I think it was in one of the Q&A's where one of the questions asked if an app was in the works for crew skills. The answer was something alone the lines of a " We'd like to see it happen, and it's possible, but it won't be anytime soon as it's not a top priority" type of answer. I could be terribly mistaken, but in any case, don't hold your breath in the hopes that it happens soon.
  8. You can crit craft/augment the items you make from those schematics. The difference between the two is that the non-rated requires a Valor rank of 70 to equip while the rated ones require you to have a certain ranked warzone rating. Ever so slightly off-topic, grinding up to Valor 70 just to equip an orange shell is very, very tedious when solo-queuing.
  9. Read the "Hair on fire" part and immediately thought of . Back on topic: I find it odd that ranked warzones won't be cross-server right away, given the state of dozens of servers where arranging such teams is an incredibly difficult/impossible task. Unless 1.3 is dropping around the same time server transfers go live, I don't see how this benefits the more barren servers. Also, I hope commendations become bind on legacy, as it would help gear alts while leveling (that is, buying the actual gear, and not the mods). I would really like to see Tionese/Columi commendations become bind on legacy. Running SM KP/EV a dozen more times for the sake of gearing an alt to run HM KP/EV a dozen more times just to run Denova is not fun at all. I don't need the comms, and I only use one companion (who's got full Rakata thanks to the loot system deciding I needed an off-set more than my guildies needed a main-set >_>), it would be awesome if I could spend the comms on my gunslinger, rather than gearing all of my commando's companions for no useful reason.
  10. For me, it depends on the bonus mission. I always do the multiple-stage missions because they often yield nice rewards (blue mods or several commendations). Whether or not I do the smaller bonus just depends on the objective and whether or not I really want to get where I'm going and finish the main quest. If my objective is to go kill some big, mean Commander, and it asks me to kill 45 other guys, I'm probably going to skip killing the 45 and just stealth straight to the big guy and move on with it. Granted, that's on my Shadow. If I were on my Commando, I'd probably blast them all into ashes since I can't just tip-toe around them. Now if the bonus is to go disable, destroy, slice something, then I'll probably do it regardless, since they're just a bit less annoying than having to kill 30-45 people and generally aren't too out of the way. Also, it's nice to hear mention of having completed a bonus after turning in the main quest and going through the conversation. Although the only example I can remember is on Tython, where you destroy some eggs and your character tells the quest-giver about it.
  11. Beautiful planet, yes. Pain in the *** to navigate the first time through though (at least it was for me). I also found that whole "squad clears out the place after you've completed your objective" thing to be surprising. I stealthed past a ton of mobs in the museum just to get to the objective, cutscene was done and when I expected to have to sneak by them again, they were all gone. But yes, I find Corellia to be an amazing planet overall.
  12. That or it's sheer luck that you haven't run into incredibly immature players.
  13. Hell, while we're at it, why not toss in an option to make a Jedi Shadow's different too, even if we're full on Light Side? It feels really odd as a Shadow having this holy light type of aura when I'm meditating, when it doesn't seem to suit the advanced class at all (at least in my mind). Personally I'd like there to be some kind of smoke or smoky shadows (just a bit, nothing overboard that makes a light-side shadow look like a dark-side shadow) in addition to a darker shaded aura.
  14. My Legacy name is Viros. So that makes all my characters' names as follows: Captain Celair Viros Master Innova Viros Captain Rodech Viros Potential Class Story Spoiler
  15. I never go out of my way to determine if the player's male or female. Why? Because it doesn't mean a damn thing to me. It's not important to me. What is important is how you behave towards other players. Generally speaking, I don't attach a gender to any player I see running around unless they outright tell me what they are, and even then it doesn't change my perception much. Hell, the only thing it might change is how I read their text in my head. As an aside, I'm a male and I play both genders. Generally, I play as a male first, female second. In an MMO's case, I alternate. However, with the voice acting in this game, I find the female voices to fit certain classes better than the male voices. It goes the other way around too. I like the female Consular more than the male, but I like the male Smuggler more than the female. To each their own. Whatever makes the game enjoyable for you, go with it. (As long as it doesn't blatantly piss others off that is)
  16. I managed to get him down in one shot as a Gunnery Commando using Elara, although it may be because I was overleveled a bit for the quest. However, I did have to use my medpack and defensive cooldowns since Elara decided this was the one encounter she wanted to actually fight in, and neglected to heal me for about ten seconds.
  17. It would be fantastic if the alloys weren't BoP. This way, the people who enjoy running HMs can either sell them to crafters or give to crafters they know (friends, guildmates). This way, the crafter can either get the materials they need without having to repeatedly run HMs and make a profit (Provided crafted gear was better than commendation gear...which I hear it's not) or they can get the material directly from an HM-runner, craft them something, and sell it to them. I never liked how those blasted orbs in WoW were BoP from the start, and only made BoE when they were pretty much irrelevant. At least the gear that came from using those orbs (when they were BoP) were just about on par with the gear from an expansions first set of raids (at least it was for Cataclysm). If what I hear about commendation gear being superior to crafted items at 50, then I'll be sure not to waste my time on crafting...which is a damn shame, because I ******* love crafting gear.
  18. It does get annoying boarding your ship and hearing how he's added cushioning to your seats for the 50th time. I can't even sit in the damn things anymore since the cushions are too high. I like him, but man his lines get so annoying after hearing them for so long.
  19. You shouldn't be able to RE mods simply because you can't make them. Artificing can't make mods, only enhancements, hilts, crystals, and generators/focus items. Cybertech makes mods now, so they can RE them. I'm not sure if Artificing was originally intended to make mods, but in any case, they can't make them now.
  20. A TK Sage is definitely not viable for healing after levels 25-30, maybe a little earlier. Early on, the extra shield absorption and the talent that stuns anyone nearby the shield when it breaks is nice, but Seer is the way to go once you're past your 20's. It gets really darn tough at some point, and you'll notice it if you stay TK.
  21. I had an issue on the same mission where, after using the second terminal, I was taken to my ship. I went back to the terminal and could not use it and could not proceed. I ended up having to reset my local phase, reset the quest, go back on my ship, fly elsewhere, and fly back to the ship to restart the mission.
  22. Playing TF2 and studying for my Spanish exam on Thursday, which is when I hope to get in. Or at least Friday.
