  1. Sounds like a good idea to me too. Delete the fleet.
  2. I know, I'm arriving a bit late in the day here, but I just found out. Woohoo! Thank you Bioware for not making me have to move my characters after all. Now you just have to hope Secret World sucks in comparison ...
  3. One aspect that needs addressing: There needs to be a 'story run' option. I've been vote-kicked from two runs now because of people frothing at the mouth that I actually wanted to see the dialogue rather than spacebar through it. In a game this focused on story, that is simply unacceptable.
  4. Was just playing on PTS and I got vote-kicked from a group expressly for not spacebarring through dialogue. This is a deal-breaker to me in a game so focused on story. The only way this is going to work is if the ability to kick in an LFG group is entirely removed.
  5. This is actually a pretty nice MMO, for the current position in its lifecycle. I've played RIFT and while you are correct that it beats SWTOR on almost every technical measure, its story is mind-numbingly boring. I had to force myself to play one character as far as level 10 without falling asleep. SWTOR has never been anything like that boring. Now, if only we could get SWTOR running on RIFT's graphics engine ...
  6. I bet he will continue in his job until he decides he wants something else. He clearly stated what the investment case target for SWTOR is: 1.2 million subs. Meaning they will make as much profit as they originally intended with that many subscriptions. At 4 months from launch we don't know nearly enough to judge the long-term success of the endeavor. That data will come to us over the next 3-6 months.
  7. Also worth noting per the chart I posted before from mmodata.net, only 5 western MMOs have ever broken the 1 million subs mark (counting the two Lineage games as one for this purpose). And of the 4 that pre-date SWTOR, 3 are still around and all of them are 2+ years old. My point here being that breaking 1 million subscriptions at all is a major indicator in SWTOR's favor. I'm willing to bet that SWTOR will still be here in 12 months, and the game will still have at least 1 million subs at that time.
  8. Just as some useful information for people, check out this chart from mmodata.net: http://users.telenet.be/mmodata/Charts/Subs-1.png. Where was WoW 4 months after launch? About 1.3 million subscribers. Not to say that I expect anything like WoW's meteoric growth for SWTOR, but I do think it reinforces the point that 1.3 million subs is a great place to be at 4 months post-launch.
  9. According to mmodata.blogspot.com, SWTOR currently has the 3rd-highest number of subscribers of any mmo (AION apparently still has about 2.4 million, but those numbers are a few weeks old). As I said before, for a game at this point in its lifecycle though, 1.3 million subs is still very good, though it will take data from another quarter going by to really start identifying a trend.
  10. i know I'm late to the thread, but here's my $.02. I think Bioware (if not EA) is, or should be, ecstatic with 1.3 million subs at this point. After all the trouble they've had, all the other good games that have launched, and those still to come, to still be over 1 million subscriptions at this point is great. What will be truly telling though is where it goes from here.
  11. Another shameless bump (last one, I swear). For daytime eyeballs. Anybody else know anything specific about this problem?
  12. Anybody have any deeper insight on this issue? Something specific?
  13. Since 1.2, in general, all my characters have looked much better. However, one thing continues to bug me. The textures on the front of some of the chest pieces (usually Jedi armor) look like they are much lower resolution than the rest of the character's armor. The shoulders/sides and rear look fine, the rest of the character looks fine, but the front of the chest piece (and sometimes the shoulders too, but less common)look muddly and low-res when you zoom in. Anybody know what is up with this?
  14. My personal pet peeve, as others have noted, is getting logged out for inactivity while browsing the GTN. Really? I'm not inactive at all, why haven't BW programmed the game to sense that?
  15. Another SWTOR promotion I'm gonna miss out on. I've been playing my main as much as I can since they announced the Legacy promo, but he's still only level 44 and I won't make the deadline since I have to work this weekend. I'm not feeling very valued here Bioware.
  16. I played in the beta weekends and pre-ordered. First I missed the Founder promotion because I re-subbed 2 days too late, then BW tells me I can't have the 30-day bribe because my highest level alt is only level 34. I suppose I should take the tauntaun and be happy ... Gee, thanks Bioware?
  17. Having the same problem here. I think something got fouled up with the 3D audio with this patch.
  18. Its not a necro if the issue is still alive and kicking.
  19. Not the kind of response I was hoping for, but you kinda make my point for me just the same ...
  20. I pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe Edition of SWTOR and played the game the first 3 weeks it was out. I left after the third week due to a combination of frustration with the early bugs and a hardware problem that I couldn't afford to get fixed for a while. Unfortunately for me, I was only able to get my system back online and my SWTOR account re-established on March 21, 2 days after the deadline for the 'Founder' promotion, which I just became aware of a couple days ago. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not gonna cry myself to sleep tonight, or ragequit, over this. But I do think it is unfair. I've been here since the Beta weekends and I pre-ordered. I don't think its unreasonable to say I deserve to be rewarded as much as anybody else who bought-in early and is still around.
  21. I played WoW from late February of '05 and, minus some breaks, right up until about 3 months ago. My server, Azjol-Nerub, had a pretty good community for about the first 3 years. The first thing that started damaging the community was the rapid influx of new players a few months after Burning Crusade launched. But the thing that did the most damage was definitely the introduction of cross-server LFG. Once people no longer had to worry about collaborating with people on the same server, all manners just went right out the window, and trolling became the normal, everyday, every-hour activity instead of something that popped up every now and then. I think an advanced LFG tool will be a good thing, but for goodness sake, never let it be cross-server.
  22. I agree with the OP 100%. If you think this game is too hard because it lacks some tools at launch, suck it up. It took Blizzard YEARS to develop the tools WoW has. Not years to think of them, years to do the work to make them happen. This game has already had a tremendous amount of work put into it, and I expect Bioware to continue putting even more work into it, but it is just plain unrealistic to expect a newly-launched title to have every feature developed for every other similar game right at launch.
  23. First, play through all the questlines without skipping the story bits. Then if you've still significantly out-leveled everybody else, go back and roll an alt while everybody else catches up. There are 4 starting planets in this game (2 per side), that's alot of story to chew through.
