  1. I played WoW on release, and although it did have some bugs it didn't have nearly as many problems as SWTOR does. SWTOR problems include everything from light rays shooting through the world, becoming invincible in combat by dancing, glitching mana to have infinite healing, duping items in your mail box, all combat actions delayed by half a second, having high-res textures vanish, etc. There is a difference between having some bugs and having a BROKEN, UNFINISHED GAME.
  2. It's already happening. Devs have stated they are addressing numerous "quality of life issues". Quality of life being just another way of saying "making things easier so you don't need to do as much." It happens in every MMO, and SWTOR is definitely being built around the casual mainstream. This is why nobody is happy with any new MMO that comes out and none are successful. They don't realize that making things too easy destroys everything. The casual mainstream doesn't know WHAT they want.
  3. That video doesn't look too impressive. There doesn't seem to be much of an MMO element to that game (kind of the point of PLAYING an MMO) and the space combat looks slow and uneventful. Reminds me a lot of Earth & Beyond, another space combat MMO that failed miserably.
  4. [Flirt] So, baby... those pixels you got make me really randy.
  5. Good MMOs don't exist anymore. The mainstream demands that the genre be made into casual, flawed, meaningless experiences and so there is little to choose from. Kind of like wanting to see a good movie at the cinema but all that are out is bad action films.
  6. At Comic-Con last year it was stated by the developers that much of the production cost of the game went to producing content for future updates. In other words, they've already created content for years to come. The game we are playing now is only the initial start.
  7. It's not dying. It's showing signs of decline and that it MAY end up dying down the road. Which in a way, is the same as dying.
  8. SWTOR is a theme park MMO, not a sandbox one. It's not about exploration, it's about getting to the next part of the story. Like Diablo or KOTOR. Also, don't let nostalgia color your vision. Chances are those seemingly wondrous experiences you had in WoW weren't all that big of a deal back when you experienced it. Ten years from now people will be looking back and saying "Remember doing such-and-such in the days of SWTOR? Those were the good ol' days." The memory of something is always better.
  9. Remember when millions of people played Warhammer Online its first month of launch?
  10. You did have high resolution textures back in your day. The only difference is that back then they called them "bits".
  11. You're complaining that something takes effort to accomplish. The fact that you don't understand how fundamentally ridiculous this is shows that you shouldn't be playing an MMO.
  12. It also took months to level a character in WoW. Things were different back then. Stop comparing apples and oranges.
  13. "Dear MMO maker. I have found that something in the game is still somewhat challenging. Please nerf it." I really hate the mainstream sometimes.
  14. Long hair is something most MMO developers struggle with since it always gets in the way of everything. Early games like WoW could get away with it because all the armors were just textures with no geometry, but a game like SWTOR has such dynamically changing body art that there ends up being problems all over the place. But yeah, I too was really disappointed with no long hair options. The longest hairstyle for females isn't even shoulder-length. At least there are hoods to cover it up.
  15. The flaw in your argument is that when WoW first came out it took MONTHS to get to the level cap, even for dedicated players. The game didn't NEED large amounts of content for end-game because even a little bit of content was a lot. In a game like SWTOR, where even casual players can get to 50 in a few days, there needs to be a lot more to do since content is processed through so quickly. That's the downside to making leveling quick and easy. It makes content less meaningful and more is required.
  16. What exactly do you want people to do then, if not level? Should we hang around Corsucant spamming /dance? Should we run laps around the Fleet talking in General chat? Should we stop doing quests and do flash points and warfronts? Oh wait, those involve leveling. Can't do those. What else should we do? SWTOR, like every MMO, is a game built around advancement. If you aren't advancing your character in some regard then you really aren't doing anything. Sure, it'd be nice if there was more of a social element, but that's not the type of game this is. And if you have to STOP leveling or advancing because the game doesn't have enough to do in it then it begs the question... why continue playing?
  17. I always detest these "Please dumb down the game because I'm lazy" threads. The zoning only takes a few seconds. Stop calling upon the game to be stripped down just because you've become addicted to needless conveniences.
  18. "World of Warcraft spoiled me with something so I demand you make the exact same mistakes as that game." Community and socialization > trivial conveniences. Stop calling on every game to be ruined.
  19. Excuse me, but I sure as heck DO NOT want a dungeon finder. It does not improve the game, it makes it worse. Please stop trying to speak for the entire game populous. Not everyone is eager for games to make the same mistakes of WoW just because people got used to playing it.
  20. Agreed. Why is it that everyone always believes that the features of WoW have to be emulated and copied in every game? "WoW had a dungeon finder so why doesn't this game too? It's what I'm used to so where is it?!" Dungeon Finders are convenient, but they come at the cost of server community and accountability in dungeons. Just because something is made easier in a game doesn't make it better. LFD makes every game worse. Stop being addicted to convenience and start understanding the big picture.
  21. Clearing bosses does not give you "credentials" nor does it make your opinion better than any other player. Thinking such is just pompous and juvenile. Go back to World of Warcraft and try to impress people with your gear scores.
  22. And what, exactly, is wrong with leveling "slowly" if you dont play very often? Why should you be entitled to fast leveling when you admittedly don't put a lot of time or effort into these goals? Why is it that players such as yourself feel entitled to things you don't wish to work to obtain? This is the problem with modern MMO design. They try to appeal to the casual mainstream individual that feels anything that doesn't create instant gratification must be some sort of design flaw.
  23. People level that quickly because the game ALLOWS us to level that quickly. We play in accordance with the game system Bioware has designed. It is a design fault, NOT the fault of the player.
  24. When WoW was first released it took many weeks just to get to level 60, then several weeks more to get gear for raiding. They didn't need to rush content out in those days because back then a little was a lot.
  25. Completely glossing over the fact that any game that ALLOWS you to get to level cap in 3 days is giving out too much xp. If you have to avoid playing for any appreciable amount of time just to artificially simulate a normal timeframe of leveling then there is something very wrong.
