  1. as far as security keys and fleet passes purchased are concerned, i'm pretty sure that on a good deal of planets if your quick travel/EFP is down, you can fly to the location of the "shuttle to fleet" (i know off the top of my head that there is one on dromond kaas, belsavis, and a few others AT LEAST... anywhere where there is a flashpoint courier) this will cut your loading screen time significantly. not sure if that's been mentioned.
  2. just so you know, people who are mind trapped at the end of soa can receive loot. you just have to have them come down and rez them, brez if they're in combat. they can receive loot. this happens to us almost every time we kill him.
  3. i agree. and i say to people who complain about the 2nd one, the ignore feature and/or having self-esteem goes a long way.
  4. 1) meters don't cause the harassment. i guarantee that if a group is wiping to an enrage, someone who is a dick will find a way to insult you if they think you're to blame. if meters were in, and you had some funky hybrid spec but were beating the other dps, nobody could say anything but someone will make a snap judgement on you whether there is a meter or not. meters are a tool to be used to evaluate personal progress and are a positive resource. just because cruel people use them otherwise doesn't make the meter the problem. 2) arcane mage vs frost mage. arcane uses 2-3 buttons plus cooldowns, frost uses 3 plus cooldown. congratulations (i've played both pushing content) find a better example also, as i've said many times before in other threads such as this one: do not group with people who harass you. if someone harasses you, you have the option to not group with them and/or find people who are of a like mind with yourself. they are out there and you will have fun with them.
  5. i am amazed every day by people who buy a game without knowing anything about it, the gameplay, the character models and the questing/voice acting. all of this information was there to be had and you knew you wouldn't like it but you bought it anyway? i happen to like it, myself, but i probably would never have bought the game if i didn't get to try the beta during one of the stress test weekends. people are really dumb.
  6. but... but pain hardens! isn't that a good thing?
  7. didn't spacebar? check. didn't pvp all day? check. have a 9-5 and spent holidays afk? check. level 50 with 8 man normal and parts of 8 hard and most of 16 normal cleared? check. NEXT CHALLENGER?
  8. you need more grapple debuffs, and it's a speeder boss, not a grass boss.
  9. maybe i'm not understanding your idea properly, but since ranged classes do not have a minimum range, it seems to me like your idea would just cause a raid to stack everyone inside. unless you are talking about the damage being similar close to the boss as it is now... in which case i think people would probably still stack on the boss.
  10. hey, our gap closer is rifle shot. (says the operative who was required to heal to raid and is rerolling sniper)
  11. @kalfear: clearly you have had a lot of bad experiences, but there are a lot of people who do want these things, and want to be very good at what they do from performing their role to knowing mechanics and executing well that are NICE PEOPLE. I know them, they're not hard to find. As much as dealing with ******es is frustrating, it is really not a big deal to never group with them again. it's less using the ignore feature (though it is a good feature), and more just not really letting them get to you and just finding people you like and see eye to eye with.
  12. aha, problem solved! i see, i just... would have preferred it if Karpyshyn hadn't referred to it as "letting the light side and the dark side flow through him like twin rushing rivers." it just... didn't sit well with me, since i always thought of it as one force being drawn upon in two different ways. it kind of threw me off. :\
  13. but that's my point. you, too, have the option to ignore those people and/or not group with them again! that's the beauty of a massively multiplayer game. there are so many other people! the whole problem has come from people resenting other people and not being able to move on. maybe it's just my personality but i don't harden myself to outside influence and decide that the "other side" is generally bad people. i'm always willing to say "well, i just wont deal with x person again, no big deal." what both sides of the argument need to get over is there is some degree of obstinacy on both sides, and some degree of immaturity and selfishness on both sides. we need to cooperate and be more mutually inclusive. e: tldr it's not the parsers and information, it's the attitude of the player base and the community. even then, it's not impossible, or i would even say difficult, to find the people you DO want to play with, and then play with them, easily weeding out the part of the population that seems to irk you. whether it's "elitist" or "casual," which are both terrible, generalized terms that mean jack ****. it's not 1%, though the amount is... generally smaller than the other side, be realistic, please. that being said. do you hate the idea because it has the *possibility* of propagating and enabling mean-spirited people and you don't want to have to encounter mean people (hint: they will still be there, but you can control your own destiny!) or because the idea of getting some info and feedback is bad?
  14. so you would say that the light and dark side are separate powers that can be drawn upon at the same time? that was my original problem with revan. based on the original movies (iv/v/vi) at least, the force is the force. it is within all living things, and sentient races at least (based on the prequels) interact with it through antibodies called mediclorians. there aren't light and dark mediclorians, everyone just has mediclorians. (i hate mediclorians, btw...) so the idea of revan drawing on the light and dark side of the force like they are different sources of magic makes little sense to me based on what i've known from the story about the force. i could be wrong, and there could be two separate and distinct sides, capable of being drawn on equally and at the same moment, but it sound horribly un-canon to me. that's what irked me about the revan storyline. well... that and him being unbelievably powerful. i also kind of don't like the emperor around that time being essentially immortal, but i can live with it, i guess...
  15. perhaps you can explain that, and how you came to your conlusion!
  16. oh, you're talking about the redemption of anakin skywalker, right? ok, well he did help to almost entirely annihilate the jedi. so i'd say the dark side did dominate his destiny. that being said he redeemed himself in the end... the dark side dominated his destiny, but it wasn't all of his destiny. i get what you're saying, but the idea of someone drawing on the "light side" and "dark side" as separate entities, at the same time, is ridiculous. the force is the force.
  17. i think people who react negatively to the addition of things like ranked pvp or spreadsheeting or "elitistjerks" resources are reacting that way due to either common misconception or due to mistreatment by people who specifically use the information to belittle people for their choices. the problem lies more that in the past, the community has turned from a helpful attitude to an accusatory attitude. rather than wanting to help people who may genuinely want to dps harder or heal more effectively or tank well, many people who obtained the information used it to belittle others. this in turn fostered a community of defensiveness, divisiveness and negativity. the players who may not be all that great or who prefer to play one way or another have built up a resentment of others trying to help them due to experiences where they were constantly harassed instead of being given friendly help so they react badly to anyone suggesting anything, and i get that. what we need to do, once/if combat logging, parsing, etc is introduced is offer helpful advice in a friendly way and help eachother. nobody wants to play badly, but some people prefer to be able to heal a bit and dps a bit or whatever kind of spec/style they like, and we who prefer to minmax should not berate them. we can offer suggestions, but if the suggestion is kindly refused, we also have the option to not group with them at a later date. to each his own, and may we all prosper in our own ways!
  18. agreed. i always felt like things should be like the original movies. the force is the force is the force. light side and dark side are how you wrest power from it or surrender yourself to working with it... they're not two different sources. "once you start down the dark path forever will it dominate your destiny." i wish that had remained true.
  19. whatever, revan is dumb anyway. the whole idea they had in that book about him drawing on the light side and the dark at the same time almost made me throw up. flame on.
  20. were the last two expansions for you tbc and wotlk? even in wotlk ranged had it easier, especially by the end of the expansion.
