  1. I lead with something crazy because this is a fun game and I just wanted to thank all the awesome peeps who have written great guides the past (almost three) years. Your work helps us all. So - Standing ovation to those who have great skill and are willing to look back and teach others!
  2. I completely agree with Dominoris Try leveling to 11-13 in each class and see which one best fits your play style or personality If you find yourself smiling, laughing or generally thinking "that was epic" after an easels run or basic pvp then you probably found the toon that will work for you. Remember that all healers don't come into their own until you hit the higher levels which is why you need to enjoy the play style to grind up to level 35 when things start opening up
  3. I have played a sawbones as my primary since launch Dozens of great players have posted tips and tricks the past few years - keep researching - much better advice can be read than what I will try to summarize. Quick answer for you: If you really like griding solo, tranq the strongest mob before the pull. Then kill weak to strong. Fight in mele range or in cover depending on the environment. Heal up before you attack the sleeping gold or silver - use you slow release med packs. Turn off area of effect damages of DPS pet if you do tranq. As you move to higher levels and want to stay a solo leveler, your pets gear must be up to date. Use orange gear and planet comms to keep blue mods and armor in all gear. Also, use your tech based attacks as you should not be stacking or adding in accuracy as you gear up a healer. Also, with stealth and tranquil you can skip trash mobs if you want especially if you follow the line of thought below.... Best way to get learn how to heal a team and level at the same time - PVP. Sawbones is optimized for a fluid and rapidly changing situations. Second best - keep running group finder flashpoints. If you are committed to being a healer - jump in and work to help keep others alive or the enemy asleep/stunned. At level 55, I currently switch to dirty fighting when I run dailies and switch back to sawbones for ops or flashpoints. I have Gus (our healer that uses same gear as sawbones) run with me when I'm solo.
  4. Shout out to the pros who have taken the time to post insight, guides and you tube clips so noobs like me had a chance to L2P. Sawbones since launch - first MMO. Thank you Aiori (bshenkkd), Azarnth, RuQu, Envii.... The list goes on. Sorry for not listing all. For those who enjoy a hair on fire roller coaster ride - go sawbones and never look back. Please take the time to review the clips and post mentioned above. 2.0 questions: PVE gear grind - when do we give up the set bonuses? Mods priority: Cunning, power, alacrity? In my gut, I want to get as much alacrity as possible. Spamming SRMP without an energy loss is insane! Seem to need cleanse now more than ever. Any way to buff this or just hope that increased alacrity when we get to BiS will get it cranking at a high rate? Currently, the pugs i heal in GF are one shotting 55FP bosses or hitting enrage. Still not fully geared and want more cleanse at times. Kolto Pack - never used it before. Working well now. Any tips to optimize its use? Relics: I'm afraid to give up the static power. Have you guys landed on what is BiS? I'm asking because you have been tremendous help and I want to become a "go to" healer for ops - I'm not there yet. Thanks again
  5. I like and agree with Butter Every situation is different Stealth in and put somebody to sleep if needed There are tons of clips on you tube of some great sawbones - trying to copy their approach to different situations helped me learn Keep at it - flat out a blast to play if you like constant movement and lots of tools
  6. THis! These are the people I want to play with. My first MMO. Sawbones since launch. I'm having a blast learning to play and am pulling my weight in gear appropriate ops The challenge is the driving force to keep me logging in
  7. New to MMOs; really like other bioware games; wanted to be Han Solo since I saw him hit the big screen when I was in the third grade; love the Jack Burton bumbling hero in Big Trouble Little China; wanted a chance to play a support role in a team effort (different than soloing on an xbox)... I rolled Captain Beratonii on Fa'Athra since day 1 and have had a blast ever since. Learning how to play an MMO healer in an initially gimped class has helped me become a better player. I'm addicted to logging in and finding teams to help pull through a flashpoint. The challenge of keeping teams alive plus the ability to play as Han / Jack is an absolute blast! Who wouldnt want perfect lines (asking master setele out made my team roll); shotguns to the back; flash bombs; grenades; backhand slaps to the face; pistol whips; cowboy hats; wookie!!! And..... Wait for it..... DIRTY KiCK - "yes you imperial puke, that just happened and now my Jedi buddies are going to make you pay! Can't wait for server mergers Smugglers Rule!
  8. Would really like to see my Wookie pull the arms off a Jawa..... This Would be a fun mini game and would spark the GTN trade as suggested Ultimately, I like the spirit behind the post - this is a great game ( I'm Han Solo ) - but many servers are dying off.. Fa'Athra is a ghost town
  9. You guys rock!! - thank you for taking the time to help
  10. Trying to get better and would really appreciate any tips; strategy; or change of goals for hutball. Level 42 sawbones is hitting#1 or 2 overall in heals for the other war zones - it's straight forward. Coordinating effort in a pug without voice can be done. I know I am helping the team. I am getting crushed in huttball - the angles, drops and spread out players is driving me nuts. To become more effective my first step is going to roll a vanguard to just practice the map and learn how to not focus on heals I am open to the pros for healer advice in PUG huttball with out voice What should i focus on? Must do / never do? How do you know you are helping the team? Thanks in advance for your guidance
  11. Daves's correct (my bad) - I finally had a chance to play again tonight and was not able to use cheap shot after dirty kick in the WZones... must have been caught up in the moment - it does work in lower level situations and IS very, very cool to watch as the "triple dose of a lesson in manners" is delivered. Honestly, my main goal with this post was to thank and encourage the devoted pro's to keep pushing for sawbones to have a better range of heals at end game - I don't have the time or expertise to make a sound positional statement BTW I Just finished maelstrom prison tonight -flat out AWESOME story!!!
  12. HUGE shout out to the serious gamers who have been kind enough to share quality info for newbs like me. Your tips consistently help my learning curve. You know who you are - Thank you! My sawbones just hit level 36 and is finally starting to not feel like a frantic race to keep my energy up while throwing tiny heals all over the place. (triage heal has been a nice addition) Had to share my best experience to date: Captain Beratonni (Fa'athra ) was minding his own business keeping the health up for his new friends in a WZ PuG when this crazy red devil with glow sticks got in his face and tried to stop him. Irritated, but not intent on killing the red devil, the Captain cooly face the anoyance; kicked him in the nuts; backhand slapped him in the face; and then jammed his pistol in the red devil's ear to further reinforce the lesson - mind your own business. Convinced that the message was received, the Captain calmly walked to the other side of the pillar while the red devil was left bent over in obvious pain and went back to helping his new friends stay alive - which all he wants to do. - dirty kick, cheap shot, pistol whip combo is awesome to watch as they hit in combo - you feel Muy Honcho!! Have fun and please keep sharing the tips - also thanks for lobbying for our value at end game raids - I do want to run those in the coming months!
  13. I appreciate the tips and perspective on the games need for survival tactics. It's to much fun to stop - I am a newb to PC games but will figure it out over the next few months.
