  1. Greetings from the Thirteenth Legion! You can find us on the web at XIIIthLegion.enjin.com. We are a Republic guild on the Star Forge server with a sister Imperial guild open only to members of the Thirteenth. The mission of this guild is to share good roleplaying experiences, help members in conquering PVE instances, and most importantly, to maintain an out-of-game atmosphere of friendship and civility. The Thirteenth Legion had its roots in Atlanta among professional, enlightened, post college-age RPG fans, and has members from around the world. All prospective members will be made recruits first. This gives us a chance to get to know the applicant and the applicant a chance to get to know us to make sure that it is a good fit. The length of this trial period will be determined primarily by the amount of interaction guild members are able to have with the applicant, but applications will be reviewed weekly. The trial period may be waived or reduced for applicants who are already well known by guild members (i.e. people who have grouped with us frequently, family and close friends of existing members). We will also accept "associate members" who have access to most of our forums and events. Associate members may be members of other guilds here as ambassadors, people in-line for membership, or those who simply want to play with us from time to time without the responsibilities of guild membership. RP Backstory The XIIIth was a unit of Republic troopers that were tasked with fighting a suicidal holding mission to delay the Sith and their Mandalorian mercenaries long enough for the Senate to flee the sack of Coruscant. We were successful, but most of our troopers and all of the senior officers were killed in action. Some were MIA after the sack of Coruscant and were presumed to have joined or been captured by the Empire. The XIIIth Legion has since been rebuilt. We've taken troopers from plenty of other units that could spare them. We've taken in Jedi that are dissatisfied with the Jedi Council's stance of non-involvement. We've taken in a lot of "independent shipping captains" and "consultants" and "extrajudicial procurement specialists" who know the back lanes of all the spaceways. Now we are taking it to the Empire, and the bucketheads, for revenge... Our Imperial guild, Vindicta, was founded around those lost friends and allies from the sack of Coruscant along with others who have a reason to hold a grudge against the XIIIth and its members. Some blame the XIIIth for their capture. Some may have been working for the Empire all along. Some may be infiltrators, betraying the Empire from within. They've been joined through the years by new faces who have a bone to pick with the XIIIth, opportunists looking for glory or steady pay, and masterminds looking to direct a powerful band of misfits for their own purposes... among others. Who are we? We are a casual guild, which means we're expecting about 10 hours of play or less a week from most members. If you want to play 40 hours a week, then that's fine too! We welcome hardcore players even though the guild is mostly focused on casual players. We are a mature guild, which means that most of the Legionnaires are 30 or older. We would prefer if people younger than college-age did not join the guild. We don't want to babysit, and we don't want to feel uncomfortable about having to edit ourselves among younger players. We want to play with people our own age--and you should, too. We are a professional guild, which means that most Legionnaires have a full-time job and run their own household. Our members include surgery technicians, doctors, attorneys, software engineers/developers, scientists-teachers-professors, full time college students, military personnel, realtors and businessmen. This is a diverse and brainy group of folks. We have a good sense of perspective: the real world is more important than this game. We have the patience and wisdom and experience in how to get along in a group like adults because we are adults. We are a RP-PvE guild, which means that many of us expect to do some RP via in-game experiences, chat and posted fiction. You don't have to participate in RP, but you have to at least appreciate and respect RP. We will participate in PvP and endgame content as secondary goals that Legionnaires are welcome to participate in if they choose to do so. We are a friendly guild, which means that we are interested in mentoring new players, acting responsibly online, and creating a fun and supportive environment to play in. We support good sportsmanship and appropriate behavior. Griefing, bullying, racism, sexism, homophobia, cheating, stealing and the use of hax or gliding programs are not tolerated. We are a fun guild, which means we like to play! Our hobbies are as diverse and meaningful as our jobs. From basketball to Dungeons and Dragons to nerf-gun fights, we like to have fun. We like to tell jokes, drop atrocious puns during Operations, and pass around Monty Python memes! We are all playing The Old Republic because we love Star Wars and want to share the fun. We are not here for pwning n00bs, high-end raiding, PvP, power leveling, or gear. If you're looking for these kind of experiences, you're in the wrong place. We Only Have Three Rules Rule #1: Be nice. Follow the Code of Conduct and Guide to Etiquette and Looting. Rule #2: Be here. You should spend more game-time playing a Thirteenth Legion character than not playing one. We want to be your main guild. Rule #3: Be active. Log into and lurk on the forum at least monthly and play at least monthly. If you are going to be gone longer than that, let us know. If you think the Thirteenth might be a good fit for you, visit our website, look around, and submit an application!
  2. With the Dark vs. Light event drawing to a close, our guild really pulled together to make sure those striving for Legendary status were able to get there! We now have quite a few Legendary Victors in our ranks, but as the Commander, that matters far less to me than seeing our "no man left behind" attitude at work! Thank you, Legionnaires, for doing what you do. Bring on KotET!
  3. Hi Froztmourne, while we're not a primarily Imperial guild, if you're still looking around maybe the Thirteenth Legion might be of interest? I think we might have the kind of environment you're looking for, if you ever decided to roll a Republic character (We do have a pretty robust Imp guild for alts, but new members are recruited via the Pub side into the main guild first.)
  4. Hi! Perhaps you might be interested in the Thirteenth Legion? We're definitely happy to help show folks the ropes of group content, in a laid back and relaxed environment with mature/older players (I think our average age runs in the 30s, but we certainly have older!) We are primarily a Republic guild, but we have an Imperial side guild as well for our alts. We don't do a lot of organized PvP at this time, but there are definitely members who like to PvP, and since members are welcome to start up and schedule their own events, you could always be that go-getter who kicks it off

  6. Approaching the end of Knights of the Fallen Empire, we are still alive and kicking! With the Dark vs. Light event in full swing, we're running Flashpoints, world boss hunts, and Operations to help our Legionnaires to achieve their DvL goals, and we have no shortage of folks going for that Legendary level Many of us were altoholics already; this event has pushed some of us to the extreme If you're looking for a laid-back, active group to PvE, RP, or just maybe PvP or GSF with, come visit us!

  9. Exact same situation here. Level 61 female BH (haven't started KotFE content yet), max affection with Mako and all convos completed long ago.
  10. Eric, can you confirm the "or" part of "All players who complete Making the Connection and/or Well Connected achievements"? We only have to do it on one faction to receive the reward? I agree that I really enjoyed the concept of the staged weekly. I did not enjoy doing it on Makeb Some of the missions were painfully long (mostly because of the eleventy mobs you had to kill every time you turned around), but mixing up the order to affect the populace was a really cool idea. Maybe bring it back in a revised form sometime?
  11. As a relative newbie (I'm one of those who just started playing GSF because of Conquest, but found myself enjoying it more than expected), I thank those who have taken the time to write up (deliciously extensive) guides, offer advice (even the arguments that come up about said advice are educational ), and answer questions. The learning curve is pretty intense, but reading up on stuff here reminds me that it's not insurmountable. (Well, generally speaking. For me specifically, that has yet to be determined. ) Hey, that's me! I may get squished a lot, but I'll cap a sat for you at game start, and/or die trying! As far as focusing on defense vs. offense for your early purchases, I think I may have to side with defense. Getting kills is a big mood booster, for sure, but staying alive, learning how to break locks and how not to engine-maneuver into rocks, feels more like progress, IMO. My first 0 deaths match was quite exciting! Not dying meant I got more kills and assists (and medals), too. Whatever motivates you, though! If successfully blowing things up keeps you queueing, and therefore playing and learning, so be it. Couldn't agree more. I may have an objectively awful match, but at this early point in my piloting, every single match is a learning experience. Sometimes frustrating, but I've never felt like it would be impossible to do better. So... thanks for the encouragement, and apologies to those on Ebon Hawk Pub-side in the evenings who get saddled with Maelos on your team. I'm trying to be less terrible!
  12. I know, right? I could see that being a Cartel Market exclusive, but people would certainly buy it. Or maybe an actual desirable GSF-related pack item... >_>
  13. /newbie wave Right. Before GSF launched, I was one of those waiting for word on whether there would be a PVE component. When they finally announced that there wasn't one, the complexity of the AI required was the big reason. I was really disappointed, but I understand the reasoning, and perhaps the hesitance to sink so much effort into a free mini-expansion/side game. As someone who desperately needs to improve my flying skills and battlespace awareness, I would love a "scrimmage" mode or some such thing as has been recommended above: non-competitive practice battles. They could call it simulator training or whatever for flavor. Since I certainly can't speak to balance yet, my top 5 are more basic (and perhaps naively noobish): Practice area/mode ^ I love the idea of cheaper (or even free) buy-in for components, with the cost shifted to upgrades. I think it would encourage new pilots to experiment and find what's effective for them. The ability to tweak loadouts while waiting in the queue. Maybe you shouldn't be able to move around ships inh your active hangar? But I don't know if the groupfinder is granular enough to be tracking each ship's loadout... is it? UI QoL stuff like... identifying what sorts of ships those blips on your map are (if your sensors can pick them up, it seems logical that you could tell what kind of ship they are, no?) More interesting paint schemes And colors, too, naturally. No one else may ever really get to see my ships in detail, but hey.
  14. I think most of the things that come immediately to mind for me have already been mentioned, but here they are: - Adding support for the armor stands/mannequins. Please? :< - Items for making a garden sort of area. Plants (not holo-trees ) of different shapes and sizes, in containers and maybe not, ponds, fountains, stuff like that. - Various posters from elsewhere in the game. - Mad Scientist-appropriate equipment - I *love* the ideas for "hazard zones" and MGGS hooks... not sure those are possible at the moment, but tools like that could be fantastic.

A/N: A little plot sparked by a guildie's comment about Darth Avidior perhaps enjoying fine tea. XD This occurs after the game storyline proper. Since I haven't covered the actual name change yet -- "Avidior" is the name Eilan takes after being elevated to Darth. Diplomatic Maneuvers Ephene was, to be truthful, a very minor world in the galaxy-wide picture. The primarily agrarian world had, perhaps wisely, declared themselves neutral in the current conflict, and since they had few resources of great value, both the Republic and Empire left them alone... mostly. There were ambassadors from both governments in the capital city, Mazul, each one trying to convince the Ephenese of the wisdom of joining their faction, or at least prevent them from joining the other. It was a token effort, at best, and that suited Ambassador Mertoph Boll just fine. His Republic superiors rarely contacted him, so long as he sent in his weekly reports, and in the meantime, he enjoyed the hospitality of Mazul high society: the regional representatives of the global Assembly, the wealthy descendants of the first colonists (they held shares in the planet's gemstone and precious mineral mines), and various business moguls. While the majority of them cannily held their galactic political leanings close to their vests, they were not above currying the favor of an ambassador with a vast network of contacts. Naturally, the same was true of the Imperial ambassador, Vrikas Haraeon, and the two of them were often in attendance at the same small gatherings. On other worlds, it might have been cause for friction, but for various reasons, it was no real problem on Ephene. Of course, it helped that Mertoph and Vrikas had reached a private agreement of their own. In public they were coolly polite to one another, but their unofficial relations were more cordial. This afternoon chat was a perfect example: every so often—not regularly, in case others took note of the scheduling pattern—one of them would invite the other to his residence for tea and conversation. Today Vrikas was playing host, so Mertoph had come via two private speeders (one to take him to a fine dining establishment as a cover, and the other to pick him up from the back door and drive him here) and was making the short walk from the private shuttle pad to the garden terrace. The terrace was attractively kept, with a dense hedge all the way around and a well-established flowering vine of some sort covering the pergola overhead. It felt almost as enclosed as being indoors. The garden seemed oddly quiet, and it took Mertoph some time to realize why: there were no workers about the place. Usually there was at least one groundskeeper pulling up weeds or trimming the hedges or some such thing. There was also, he noticed, no serving boy posted by the door leading from the house to the terrace. Does Vrikas have something particularly sensitive to discuss today? If that were the case, though, Mertoph would have expected to meet inside, where security could be more easily controlled... Curious and a little wary, the ambassador entered the terrace through the flower-covered archway. There was a stranger sitting at the little wrought-desh table, facing the archway. His hair, the color of a glowing-hot coal, drew the eye immediately. Vrikas, his profile familiar and easily identifiable, sat across from him with his back to Mertoph. "Ah, right on schedule," the stranger said with a friendly smile. "Come, join us, Ambassador Boll, the tea is still hot." Mertoph felt a chill. The seemingly polite young man was dressed in full Sith armor, and either he had a peculiar fashion sense, or a Miraluka's eyeless face lay behind the elaborate metal visor he wore. A Miraluka Sith? part of him wondered, even as his mind tripped into full alert. What is happening here? He found it odd that Vrikas didn't turn to greet him, but perhaps the Imperial ambassador didn't want to turn away from the Sith. Mertoph couldn't blame him; the man's presence here boded ill, and treating him with anything less than full respect would be foolish. Attempting to hide his reluctance, Mertoph came to the table and seated himself in the space left open between Vrikas and the Sith. It was only then that he saw Vrikas's slack face, and the telltale small, singed circle through the breast of the ambassador's shirt. He let out an involuntary shout of horror and would have jumped out of his chair, but something held him down in his seat, as surely as if he'd been tied to it. Is this... the Force? As a law-abiding Republic official, he'd never been subjected to the use of the Force against his person, but... what else would it be, invisibly holding him down in a durasteel grip? He was breaking into a sweat, he knew, from pure terror. The Sith wouldn't dare kill him—he was an ambassador, on a neutral planet! But what did he want? Did he know? He must have, or why else would he have killed Vrikas? For a moment, Mertoph wondered if Vrikas had been murdered here, sitting down to tea, or if it had happened elsewhere and the Sith had staged this horrifying tableau in time for Mertoph's arrival. He wasn't sure which seemed worse. He stared at the Sith, who seemed to ignore him for the moment as he took a measured sip of tea. The man's black gauntlets, Mertoph noticed, were tipped in curved metal claws, but he seemed to have no particular problem handling the porcelain teacup. "Hm. I suppose I can't fault Ambassador Haraeon's taste in tea, at least. This is quite fine. Local, isn't it?" The Sith's tone was so pleasantly banal that Mertoph almost laughed at the incongruity of it. Unable to find words to reply, he merely nodded. "Very nice. I'll have to acquire some before I leave." The man set the teacup down and leaned back in his chair, turning his full attention to Mertoph. "I suppose I should introduce myself. Darth Avidior at your service, Ambassador Boll," he said, rising to perform a slightly mocking bow. A Darth? Here? Why would the Empire send someone of such high rank out here? Were they about to make a play for Ephene? "A pleasure to meet you," Mertoph managed to say, feeling anything but. The Sith grinned broadly at the obvious lie. "I think I don't need to tell you that there will be a new Imperial ambassador very shortly," he said casually, nodding towards Vrikas's body. "I... see." Mertoph had no desire to look at his colleague again; his stomach was already fluttering unpleasantly in apprehension as it was. "If I may inquire... why was Ambassador Haraeon, er, relieved of his post?" Darth Avidior actually laughed. "If I must spell it out: he happily accepted your bribery in exchange for information on Imperial diplomatic movements. Treason is a capital offense in the Empire, Ambassador." So the secret was out. For his own safety, the Republic would doubtless recall Mertoph to Coruscant. If he walked away from this encounter. "I suppose you will be replaced here sooner than later," the Sith continued, echoing Mertoph's thoughts, "but I think your people might be forced to hasten the process." Avidior picked up a pastel-tinted biscuit from the serving tray and examined it, but set it down on his saucer without tasting it. "I—but—I'm a Republic citizen, and this is a neutral world!" Mertoph said shrilly. "For now." The Darth smirked knowingly. "I do wonder what the Ephenese will make of your slave trafficking. I'm fairly certain that the Republic takes a dim view on such things, however." "I don't know what you mean," the ambassador protested weakly, swallowing bile. Bloody karking Sith, he knows! "No? Let me jog your memory." Avidior tapped a comm at his ear, murmuring "bring them" to some unseen accomplice. A moment later, a half-dozen adolescents stepped out of the house, followed by a Chiss in the uniform of an Imperial Navy officer. The officer's pistol remained holstered at his hip, but the children seemed to obey him with alacrity nonetheless. Mertoph had never seen them in person; he had only facilitated their purchase and transport to Vrikas's residence, one at a time over the past year or so. Beneath his current fear for his life, he felt a pang of shame. They're so young. Four of the children were human: two girls and two boys, the latter of which Mertoph recalled were identical twins. The sole Mirialan in the group was a girl, and the last boy, wearing a finely made fabric mask over his eyes, was obviously a Miraluka. They all appeared to be barely through puberty, with slender frames that hinted at growth in the years to come, and their scant, but decorative, clothing gave a clear enough indication of what their purpose was. Ages of majority and consent varied throughout the galaxy, but compared to Vrikas's 50-odd years, they all seemed far too young. "Of course, slavery is still legal in the Empire, so the late Ambassador Haraeon broke no laws of ours in simply owning them," Avidior said conversationally, "and what one does with one's own slaves is not subject to any law. But I personally find this… distasteful, don't you?" Mertoph dared not answer. The Sith was clearly prepared to report this whole mess to the Republic authorities, and if he had some personal axe to grind about the issue, he was unlikely to accept some sort of concession to keep quiet. "Find them some proper clothes," the Darth called to his subordinate, who nodded and ushered the boys back inside. "What..." Mertoph's voice cracked and he started again. "What will happen to them?" "Worried about your little investments?" For all of the lightness in Avidior's tone, there was venom in it, as well. "Haraeon made no dispensation for them in his will, and he has no heirs. They become Imperial property, but I am seeing them freed and transported elsewhere." It was never wise to trust a Sith, but Mertoph believed him, if only because of how angry he seemed. He only nodded in reply. "I do have to wonder... was this your idea, or was it suggested by your superiors?" The Miraluka took another sip of tea, seemingly waiting for an answer. Mertoph blanched, but he remained silent. "Ah, well. I suppose it won't really matter; even if it was an order from higher up, they'll scrub the data trail and leave you hanging out to dry." The Sith regarded him with a nexu's predatory grin. "Diplomacy is such an ugly little game, really. I think that's why I enjoy it." The invisible bindings that had kept Mertoph in his seat finally dissipated, and the ambassador leaped to his feet, backing away rapidly from the table and the monster sitting there calmly drinking expensive tea. "Drive safely," Avidior called after him. "It would be quite unfortunate if you had an accident before you made it back to Coruscant." Mertoph's stomach lurched, and this time there was no abating it; he scurried behind the hedge, outside of the terrace, and doubled over, retching. Was that last quip a threat? A warning? Or was the Sith simply trying to scare him even more? Back on Coruscant he faced serious censure, perhaps even criminal conviction... but at least he'd be alive. Stomach still heaving, the ambassador slowly made his way back to the shuttle pad, forced to wonder now if he'd make it back to his residence, let alone Coruscant. .end

*blows dust off thread* o hai. Been a bit busy with Real Life Stuff rather than writing. I've scratched out a few short bits here and there, but nothing that continues this storyline, directly. The next post, though, is long enough and speaks clearly enough to the character that I figured it merited posting. Thank ya I think Quinn's got himself into a rather difficult assignment. But as Vette might say, "Hey, you volunteered for this post, buddy."
  17. Okay, on the "Strongholds are Legacy-based, not character-based" front... Eric, you said we can buy/unlock multiple Strongholds. Does that mean, I can get one on every planet available, or could I, for instance, get 2 Sky Palaces?
  18. Thanks for the further info (and the extra round of goodies)! Antsier than ever to start tinkering with this stuff, but knowing that more awesomeness is being put into it makes the waiting a wee bit more tolerable. I'm actually not crazy about this concept, but I can hold out hope that the Strongholds will be more like apartment buildings and less like frat houses (Not literally -- although being a landlord might be fun ;P -- but with the capability to make a clear separation of living spaces.) I suspect that's something that won't become clear until showtime, though.
  19. From my own experience with this bug, windowed mode would be guaranteed to cause the crash, not avoid it. Going full screen (NOT "full screen windowed", which is my usual setting) would let me avoid the crash by alt+tabbing out. I suspect the difference is that in full screen windowed mode, the graphics are still rendering in the background -- you can't actually "minimize" it. Spacebarring at the correct time before the hyperspace jump could also avoid the problem, but it seemed a little hit and miss for me (or maybe my timing is bad). Either way, glad it's getting fixed and these workarounds will hopefully become moot!
  20. Hmm, that's a bit unfortunate for the bereft of luck. Thanks, though!
  21. Can anyone confirm if the Barnacles that drop from the Eyeless are per player or per raid? (i.e., does everyone get some or are they items to roll for?)
  22. ...? The wide "belt" of a kimono is the obi -- you can see it wraps all the way around, to a big ol' bow in the back. the lap below the obi is where the extra length of the kimono is gathered up so that it doesn't drag on the floor. The "plate" on these tops seems a bit pasted-on... I'd believe them as interesting, ornamental frontpieces to the skirt aprons, but as they are, they look like completely separate pieces... like fancy pillow covers that someone shoved into their belts. XD;; Perhaps they're like Mandarin squares?
  23. 2.4 is the next patch -- I don't believe there's any maintenance involved in adding the new packs to the Market.
  24. Actually, I'm wondering if it might have to do with the scheduled, regular nature of the event. Any event-exclusive items would quickly lose their "unique" quality (in quotes because nothing is truly unique, of course). Perhaps if there was a token, it'd be something based on heroics or boss fights, like the Gree shards, to limit how many you could accumulate in a single event, but at the moment, there aren't any heroics or world/ops bosses, so... Perhaps that'll change in the future -- something like an H4 instance full of criminal scum could be fun
