  1. Me! I've been playing since Beta! Then I got the Collectors Edition as an early Christmas present... SWTOR was my first "grown up" MMO--I had only played kid ones before, including Neopets and Lego Universe. I will NEVER forget the thrill of my first companion--good old Corso--joining the crew of my first character, and the thrill when she hit 50. I have been subscribed since day 1, but I've taken a few "playing" breaks. And so much has improved over time--achievements, legacy, collections, and of course things like Galactic Strongholds and Wardrobe Designer! I'm big into QOL stuff, since I do RP. Still love the game and looking to the future (as long as the game doesn't 't go overboard in changes). More story will be AWESOME, gutting stuff like end game, dailies, crafting, would not be (at least for me).
  2. AND......this. I am now totally worried about this....I really love how crafting works now. . . I hope that the basics will remain the same; I'd like to continue to craft for my characters and other players leveling up as well as for people at max level, so I hope that if they do anything it isn't drastic. A gal needs her credits to buy her bling. As for subscribing to my "crafting newsletter," well its all about niche markets, so I totally wouldn't be giving you very useful information (like my markets). That said, there's tons of great advice already out there, including in the crafting forum.
  3. Thank you very much for answering my questions, Eric. And you all made me laugh with your responses to my first question, but in real life if I wake up like 20 years later, I can assure you someone else is now living in my house and driving my car! So I just wanted to make sure.
  4. As a frequent cartel market user and owner of 4 Strongholds, would just like confirmation that we get to keep all our gear, outfits, credits, pets, vehicles, decorations and strongholds and other stuff after the expansion hits. Also, I am big into crafting --its how I've made my SWTOR fortune. Will crafting remain the same after the expansion? I am confused about it due to the information on having to "find" old companions and gaining new ones. Thanks! I'm mostly excited about the expansion, but I'm pretty attached to my characters, companions, their stuff and the in-game economy.
  5. This. 1,000x this. As a gal who has played since beta and has been subscribed since day one; please, please let us have Theron as a companion. I think out of all the characters that have been a part of this adventure, he has been my favorite.
  6. Well I for one have not forgotten about this. EVERY single update I go and gamble 10 tokens to see if they have fixed the abysmal drop rates, and they haven't. The entire episode has broken trust with me and the game. It won't be repaired until the slot machine is repaired. I play less, and I certainly spend less in the Cartel Market. Obviously doesn't matter one bit to the developers; I wonder how many others like me are just silent about it? Make the item fun for my Stronghold again, and trust restored. You DO NOT have to include ANY crafting materials for this to happen. How hard is it to create a few prizes and fix the win rate???
  7. Goodness, such a bunch of negative nellies on this thread. I, for one am very excited. I LOVED the story and characters in Shadow of Revan; more of that YES and more class stories especially? Fantastic! Also super excited about the Wardrobe thing (I'm hoping this means once unlocked I'll have forever access to the armor/outfits without having to keep them in my storage AND that there is a tab that lets us change our look without losing our mods (like this...here is your armor that you want your STATS from in tab 1...and here is your armor you want your LOOK from in tab 2). Ooh...that would be sweet. ALSO super excited about a new GSH...I hope they continue to also IMPROVE those including adding more hooks and MORE INTERACTIVE ITEMS (slot machine, I'm looking at you). And yep, hoping one reason they moved the patch to Thursday is to put a stealth fix in for the existing slot). I for one am looking forward to 2015 with SWTOR and beyond.
  8. Well, not true if they fix this one first to be fun again. Which, really, is only what most of us are asking.
  9. You know what I'd like to see? The issue of mats being separated from the issue of making the slot machine a fun interactive GSH decoration again (and the release of future fun slot machines for the GSHs). I just want to see some new non-mat prizes and rebalanced slot win percentages. At the very LEAST put the darn token purchase back to 500 credits--750 credits is abusive given the current iteration of the machine. The fact that they have not done at least a tweak of the pay percentages///added some new prizes absolutely boggles my mind. I will assume something is in the works...otherwise, that means that Bioware 100% doesn't care about players involved in their GSHs who throw LOTS of cartel market coins at them for said decorations. Evidently, Bioware only cared about the mat-barons who were unhappy and not me and those like me. Point noted Bioware.
  10. Right?? For instance, now you NEVER see the awesome win animation with the disco ball and the confetti. I used to dance with my companion or a friend everytime that happened. And now, nothing. Like ever. I just want the fun back for my GSH. This may seem insignificant to many of you, but this "silly" issue got me out of like, never posting on the Forums (although I read them regularly). I'm a Founder, very enthusiastic about the game overall, and have spent WAY WAY too much on the Cartel Market. I don't have any way to communicate with the devs and team, evidently (since I certainly feel all communication on this issue has been cut off) so my only way to speak is to stop buying cartel market items. Sigh. I'd much rather continue to throw my money at Bioware.
  11. ^ this, definitely this. Every day I rush to the forums when I wake up to see if there is communication and/or if the item has been fixed. Every day I am disappointed.
  12. ^ This...just this. All us pro-rebalance slot machine people want is a middle ground. So the item is once again fun, can draw peeps to our GSHs to play, and so new slots can be made (and more CC packs happily sold). I cannot for the life of me understand why this is controversial, or why it is not done. No one is asking for a free crafting mat machine again. And I'm not in a rush...all it will take will be Bioware saying "hey, we hear you, we're taking our time and we are working on it." And then they can take their time, and the next slot adjustment will be a happy middle ground which fixes the machine.
  13. I agree with the OP 100% with one exception...most slots DO make you lose over time. They just don't make you lose as badly as the currently over-nerfed payouts do the way the slot is now. And, there is always the chance...however small...of a jackpot on good slot machines. Really, the speeder just isn't jackpot enough to make up for the overall poor payout. At MINIMUM they should reduce the slot cost back to 500 credits. At slightly more than minimum, they should tweak the payout table to be a bit higher. At "hey, we really messed up with the over-nerf and want to fix this", they should remove the crafting materials and add some other fun prizes//fix the pay table so the machine is fun again! I AM one of those people who wants to buy LOTS of slot machines and make a "working" casino in my GSH that my friends will visit. Right now, as implemented, and with the event "communication" that they are afraid to release more slot machines, I fear this will never happen and it makes me sad because it is so darn easy to fix.
  14. ^This. Just this. I am still waiting for communication from Bioware as to when this will be fixed. I am usually quite jolly about the Cartel Market and spend like a drunken sailor there...until this is fixed, I have gone stone cold sober.
  15. I haven't been a regular poster in these Forums, but I'm not going away. I'm truly upset about this, including the communication that did and did not happen regarding Slot Gate. Its not that I'm angry--I'm disappointed and I feel extremely ignored as a customer who spends LOTS of money on this game. Its all tied into my love of the GSHs...they are the thing that got me back to this game full-time. So that is why this all stings so much....having properly working slots in my GSH is important to me...what we have now is just not working. and I fear that the mishandling of the whole thing will also prevent future slots. Bioware, please come up with a another fix with more frequent wins (please--no crafting material prizes). Communicate it properly. Then lets get those additional slots out there for our GSHs....your players will be happy, and you'll make a mint on future Cartel Packs. Its a win win for everyone.
  16. Oh...I failed to mention the reputation prizes. The rep is great...but once you max out on the rep, that is when the slot machine becomes completely no fun. That said, with a different mix of prizes and a fix and more thought by devs to the win percentages and prizes, I will love the Contraband Slot again (as opposed to the sad side-long glance I give it as I pass it now), and I would love to see future slots....you can still save this situation, and sell massive amounts of cartel packs in the future for new slots for the GSHs if you do this, IMHO. I'd try to get them. Please Bioware, my GSH casino awaits all of this...those 1 credit slots that we all have pale in comparison now that we know we can have working, fun slots in the GSHs. Thanks ps: I also love the Juke Boxes.
  17. No. Absolutely no. I never cared about the crafting materials AT ALL (in fact, I make a good income from crafting myself) I was happy to see the Jawa Junk and other crafting material nerfed. What I was UNHAPPY about was to see the working, fun decoration that I paid good money for turned into a useless decoration by the poorly thought-out overall nerf to the machine. Once they drastically took out the crafting mats as prizes, THEN stealth nerfed the cartel certificates to oblivion and ONLY added a once-in-a-blue-moon meh mount the slot machine NO LONGER operated as a viable slot mini-game which was fun to play in your stronghold with friends. Trust me...this can be done...you can lose at slots most of the time but win sometimes and still have fun, just like in Las Vegas or other MMOs//online games that have and have had virtual slot games. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for some of us such a useable mini-game decoration was a welcome addition to our strongholds. I paid 6 million credits for mine after NOT being able to get one in TWO cartel packs....and this was before I knew the thing was spewing TOO many wins on jawa junk etc...when I got mine, all I knew was it was a working slot for my stronghold, and I TRUSTED BIOWARE TO IMPLEMENT IT CORRECTLY, and yep, maybe tweak it if it wasn't. I was TOTALLY OK with them nerfing the crafting materials off the pay table like Eric mentioned, but I was SHOCKED AND DISAPPOINTED when the nerf bat went so overboard it ruined the item completely. Others have expressed similar dismay to mine in the many now-buried posts on this topic. And FYI dear OP, like you I am an adult with a job and kids and husband with a long history in MMOs...not that that should matter much, but just for the record and all that.
  18. Hi. Heat Wave, I agree with your OP except for one thing. Just take the crafting materials OUT as prizes. That would take out a whole lot of problems for the slot machine. Otherwise, I agree with you.
  19. Well, thanks for letting me know "I'm playing the game all wrong then" Sorry, there is no "right" way to play the game. Personally, I'd rather have a root canal than play the GSF portion of the game, but if someone enjoys GSF I don't judge them as "playing the game all wrong" Different things are fun for different people. For me RP in my GSH casino with my Guildies while playing a virtual slot IS fun.
  20. I guess I didn't state this clearly enough...or people are trying to hijack my thread intentionally. So let me state this here. I DO NOT CARE IF THERE IS ANOTHER CRAFTING MATERIAL THAT EVER SHOW UP IN A SLOT MACHINE ON SWTOR AGAIN. My attachment to the slot machine as a fun deco for myself and my friends to play in my GSH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CRAFING MATERIALS. Zip. Nada. I started my thread to say that there are MANY OTHER types of prizes that can keep the fun in the slot interactive GSH decoration mini-game. Especially OTHER DECORATIONS. Or credit jackpots. Or IDK, new mounts or pets or toys (seriously, how hard is it to take some time and make a few new slot-specific fun items??) In my very first MMO experience many years ago (um, NeoPets...I was young) they had several fantastic mini slot games. You usually lost. But you DID win enough to make it fun; regularly you'd win a nice chunk of credits. But just like real slots in Vegas (which I also play occasionally), you'd usually be stupid and feed the credits back into the machine--and you'd lose. May not be fun to some people, but it is fun to others. Current version of the machine...once you max out the rep, you just lose. ALL the time. Oh...um, I really liked the jackpot animation with the disco ball and confetti when you'd get the cartel certificate. Please keep that for whatever new big prizes there are.
  21. Actually, most of you are missing the point of my post. I'm completely FINE with the slot having nothing to do with crew skills. In fact, I make most of my money in game crafting and don't need slot help to get my mats. Crew skills and crafting are available to everyone so personally I don't understand people who complain about others selling the stuff they don't want to craft//don't have the time to craft. So, for my post and what I want to see out of the slot as a FUN DECORATION, please note my OP said nothing about keeping a crew skills aspect in order to keep the slot operational and fun. And the slot machine, for a decoration is INTERACTIVE. You can play a MINI GAME with it. Most of the stuff just sits there and...well, decorates. And yes to some people, gambling is fun (ahem, if you've ever bought a hypercrate, I'm looking at you). And of course, yes, I'd LOVE to see class stories continue. And I never said the game couldn't use improvement on about a million other things including customer service and communication etc etc. But that doesn't negate all the good things about SWTOR. Have you ever played another MMO? They all have their pluses and minuses. When I returned to SWTOR, I returned from another MMO that to my mind had many more minuses than this one does now. Oh, and in my initial post, I did forget to mention how much I LOVED 12x. So much fun. OK, so back to my original point--all I'm asking for in the OP was to fix the machine so the gambling aspect makes sense again, the fun comes back for those of us so inclined to credit sink to gamble...so many ways to do this...and then to continue to release new working fun slots for the strongholds.
  22. First..a little about me. I'm a Founder; played in Open Beta, Bought the Collector's Ed, early Access....stayed for awhile, found the game lacked too many things I needed to make it fun for me...then left for a really long time, with occasional forays back into game. I'm a subscriber, and I rarely post on these forums. I've been back in game full time since GSH release, and I've been having a fantastic time. So much is here that wasn't here at launch....achieves, collections, more fun things to collect, conquests...just so much. And, for me the GSH have been the big game changer. I LOVE decorating the GSHs, and the utility they added in the game including travel is great. I would do a few different things so that people had reasons to visit your GSH (descriptions others can read for a start) BUT overall, just love it. I collect decos like a fiend so now spend lots of cartel $$ and credits too. Also loved the Revan expansion. Love Rishi and Yavin, and especially the story. The Makeb story for me was meh but this one...loved all the characters and the story arc. Can't wait to play it again on all my alts. Exploits? Not my thing, didn't know and didn't care. Which brings us to the slot. I was SO happy when I heard about it...I bought TWO cartel hypercrates, of course didn't get one, then spent many millions of credits to get one. I wanted it because it was SOMETHING INTERACTIVE FOR THE STRONGHOLD that was also FUN. It also FINALLY got my friends to visit my stronghold to play my slot. And then the huge nerf so slot is no longer fun. And people no longer visit my stronghold. And I no longer play with my own machine in spite of having a few stacks of tokens saved up. I would REALLY hate to see the slot controversy stop future slot machines for strongholds. Just such a great idea, and I for one will definitely buy more hypercrates to get different slot machines in the future...IF this slot is returned to fun and if future ones are fun too. And with fun, the community (for the most part) doesn't mean something that will harm the economy. There are so many ideas for prizes (my favorite one is, well, decorations...it is a slot in a stronghold after all). Or what about credit booms like you sometimes get in the hypercrates? Better pay table whatever the prizes turn out to be. And just put some medium-high limit on number of tokens per week per account or toon so that part of the game population that overdoes it on everything can't. Take your time devs. Let us know that you are fixing the machine and you'll release the fix once you've worked out the prizes and percentages. And then, do continue to release additional new slot machines for the fun and community they add to our GSHs. Please and thank you.
