  1. If I may make a small suggestion? There was a part during the video where you were using Rifle Shot to take down a low-health target, as well as some later parts that were much the same. In those situations, taking brief cover and using Explosive Drone and Snipe can be much more effective than just ordinary blaster fire.
  2. I have to agree on the story and voiceover front; the male Imperial Agent's voice actor is absolutely godly, and has an awesome accent that's just perfect for the role. I'm told that they become better with levels in the PvP department, but so far I'm just fine. And the animations for knives is brutal - the sounds, too.
  3. This. It's a buff to get you past nastier PvE encounters as well as speed up levelling in general. It's also meant to make it easier on you if you're lacking one for a four-man flashpoint; whoever gets to have their companion out gets their variant of this skill. In fact, if you consider it that way, it's an excellent addition.
  4. Gentlemen. Always a good thread to have on boards such as this one is a "Great Tip" thread - a small but significant piece of advice or information that can greatly benefit a fellow Operative or answer a niggling problem that has been bothering them for days but never got around to reading about or solving. Without further ado, allow me to present my own: What separates this class the most from the Rogue in WoW is its ranged capacity and cover capabilities. While not being spec'd for sniping, don't discount your Snipe or Explosive Drone abilities - they can do serious damage before an enemy notices you. Snipe and Explosive Drone can be hit fast enough to have the drone you call after using Snipe to explode from Snipe's damage, which can cause major sudden burst. You might have to spam the keys somewhat to pull this off, though. Might only apply to lower levels, but; don't spam Overload Shot when Backstab and Shiv are on cooldown. If you do so, you run the risk of going under 60 Energy and losing your Energy regeneration rate. Consider trading an Overload Shot for a Rifle Shot if you're hovering at 65 Energy. Alternative to the above scenario - use Adrenaline Probe, which will catapult you straight back to maximum regen. All actions can be interrupted with Distract (our interrupt); all of them that have a cast, and not just any that would be considered "spells". This includes Master Strike/Ravange (the Jedi Knight/Sith Warrior channelled series of strikes), Full Auto (Bounty Hunter/Trooper), Snipe, et cetera. If it has a cast bar (and the enemy doesn't have a talent to remove interrupts from that action), it can be interrupted. Interrupts lock out only one action, rather than a school of actions like in WoW. If your Kolto Injection gets interrupted, Kolto Infusion will still be usable. Always, always, always have Stim Boost active. If you have 2/2 in the talent that grants Tactical Advantage when using Kolto Injection, by all means use it to get a charge and then use Stim Boost ahead of time. This frees up any Tactical Advantage charges you get whilst opening, as well. Have any more to share?
  5. However the same could be said for Alacrity, since the faster things happen the faster they can crit, et cetera. Please bear in mind that I'm not sure if DoTs benefit from haste in SWTOR.
  6. Diagnostic Scan is a confusing ability because it heals so little when you get it, and I believe even later it will still heal for little, but its primary purpose is to be the "autoswing" of healing; its real purpose is for the crit heals and energy returns. Talented, it grants 24% crit on each tick and restores 2% energy. Say we have a latent 10% crit chance, that gives us 34% crit chance and therefore the likelihood that at least one tick will crit over 3 seconds, meaning that it restores roughly 2 energy per use (on average). In addition to its admittedly minor heal, this makes it an excellent ability to use between Kolto Injections to keep your energy up for when the big hits come flying in. It's meant to upkeep your energy and provide a small stream of healing; not to be a self-sufficient heal in and of itself. - Pride
  7. Having Armstech means you can craft your own; keeping Armstech up to date means you can constantly make new ones to suit your level.
  8. Although I agree, I can also sympathise with the need to see yourself ranking high on the numbers. If I had to choose between the two, I would go with being the unsung hero simply because it means you're more likely to get the money, resources and commendations you need, and every now and then someone will notice you and you'll see 1-4 MVP votes against your name. But even with this considered, it's still only natural and maybe even forgivable to want to see yourself topping boards. Even if it's not particularly smiled upon, even I admit to enjoying seeing my name up there. I agree with the above poster, though. HoTs are phenomenal to rack up healing numbers, and spreading your healing around to more targets than just one or two can serve to increase your healing numbers as well as reduce the chance you'll overheal and do no healing, especially when using HoTs on allies about to enter a fight. Hope that helps, even if just a little. - Pride
  9. Though I can't help with the knockback, I can say that using Flash Bomb, Debilitate or Sleep Dart while they run over the flame jets is cause for instant hilarity. But as I said, the knockback into the pits I can't help with. Sorry!
  10. Can't say I have first-hand experience with the issue you're having, but from the sound of other issues I've heard, I wouldn't be so surprised to find something like this exists.
  11. If you can use more gun, why not? It doesn't impair his espionage efforts at all. Besides, his marksmanship is more - shall we say, formal than using a pistol or two. Likely, Agents/Operatives were trained in rifles to enable their capacity as snipers, and found that using rifles for stealth purposes didn't hinder them at all, and so opted for the best of both worlds. - Pride
  12. Operatives, for me, are those who do whatever it takes to get the job done. While, to us, the class is "melee-orientated", it actually makes more sense for an Agent whose mind is solely focused on results to use his rifle when he can't reach his target. I do admit that when you're up-close and personal, it is a bit strange, but consider this - it was most likely made that way so that the Blaster Rifle is important.
  13. Overload Shot is essentially Sinister Strike from WoW; it's your mainstay of damage. Note that it does white damage as opposed to yellow damage. I use it constantly. - Pride
  14. Something to keep in mind is that if it was instant, there would be no way to counter it in PvP and you would have Concealment Operatives instant-healing themselves every time they gained a stack of TA, making them far more durable (admittedly at the cost of the increased damage and less executions). - Pride
  15. I'm actually very glad you're enjoying the class. There are enough players who come and vent their frustrations and imagined miseries on MMO forums, and not enough who actually say they enjoy their character and the game they're playing.
  16. Hi there. I'm not too experienced in the game so far but I'm a veteran of PvP and MMO's, albeit not a veteran of Rogue-style gameplay. Trying this out for the first time makes me nervous, despite some considerable experience PvPing. But one thing I can say with confidence is that if you're looking to PvP and do a lot of DPS, you need to understand the concept of burst damage, which you might be aware of but not of the importance of it. Rogues traditionally have excellent burst damage, which involves doing as much damage in as short a space of time as possible. I haven't tried the Lethality tree, but Concealment would logically provide this, as well as sustainable DPS over time. I would recommend trying Concealment first, but don't make the mistake of thinking Lethality not worth trying; everything's worth trying, and if you want to play your best you need to keep an open mind as to what you can use. I realise this might not have been quite as helpful as you might have wanted, but I hope it provides some insight at least. - Pride
