  1. Running a Veng Jugg and this was a pretty straight forward and simple run. I did like the pacing and the setting is awesome. This weekend, the guild will be attempting straight HM runs to see how it goes. I was full 72's with my companion healer in a mix of 69/72. I think this was more or less designed to be of moderate challenge to players who had HM/NIM ops completed, while it kind of left anyone in the lower tiered gear with a more difficult time. I was only caught off guard once by one of the Daily bosses, which equaled 1 death. The Heroic area is nice, I like the mob density, makes it tough to solo and actually made me look for at least one other person just to speed things up. Oricon might be the reason I stay subbed until SSSP and whatever other content they have comes out. If the raids are short and boring, then it's back on break from TOR until something fresh hits it again.
  2. It should be a real and sincere apology and that is exactly what my suggestion is. It's not what I think, it's what I know and what others also know. To some people it may just be a game, to others it's a form of art, expression and entertainment. If its something so simple and basic to you, that's fine, your opinion will not wieghed as heavily as someone who has a passion regarding "just games". As for the primary concern being money, you're wrong and I would love to sit you in front of game designers, then see you say that to their faces and see what kind of reaction you get. It certainly will not be positive. There is a certain level of integrity that game designers have that I am pretty sure you're unaware of. This can be evident when people leave a company due to differences in vision and direction. As I have stated, the game is passable for now and the potential of sssp could improve the game overall but it needs an overhaul and some open acknowledgment that they let their initial fan base down and can't maintain a decent subscriber rate. But your opinion is noted.
  3. You and I do sit in the same boat when it comes to continual investment for something that should ideally only get better. But to illustrate some feelings reflected in the gaming community I am in (guilds, friends, family and coworkers) we were blown away by Square-Enix approach to initial failure. I will quote a great guild member while leaving his name out of the post to protect his interests: "Yeah, ff14 and Tor basically have the same problem. But ff14 remade the game to make it better while Tor made the cartel market so they could make money off of it" He and I both support each game and invest in both. SW:TOR sees more of our time collectively. But seeing the outcome of the varied approaches, I honestly believe Bioware should take a page from them. Use the time they could have to update and remove current limitations. Try to realize the potential of a Star Wars Mmo and perhaps design an API plugin system that will allow them to add or remove massive changes with the least amount of negative impact. There would be two benefits from this: 1: better ability to make major overhaul updates that keep the game relevant. 2: redesign or try to get back to original ideas that were never implemented due to engine/system limitations. Let me put it this way, if I had $200,000,000.00 in float cash, I would invest it into this game and say "finish what you wanted, hire who you need and go ground up with no pressured launch date. Create PTS 2.0 and get open feedback from current subs, only introduce isolated features with testing parameters". Sadly, I am not a billionaire and if I become one, it will be in my 60's after the singularity event. (Sci-fi cray for y'all)
  4. Thank you theUndead for your well done reply! The history of this forum does not usually lend itself well to open critiscim, often leading to pages of hatred. While my suggestion to log off and take a breather may appear to be insulting, that's not the intention. It's design is to encourage level headed and measured replies, much like your own. Now, before we believe that sssp is their attempt to give the fans what they have asked for, we need to actually get our hands on it. For all we know, it's just star fox 64 4 player vs. mode. While that's great, it isn't exactly what the fans were looking for, is it? Then again, I could be completely wrong and it may well be JTL re-imagined. We do agree on the same shortcomings, as would most who have been with the game since day 1. While a large F2P player base is great for server population and the CM puts throw away money in their pockets, it's a hard pill to swallow that there weren't enough subscribers to keep things moving forward. That's the failure, profit is fine and dandy, depending on the margins. Too low, the game will not see moderate reinvestment vs. other projects. Then we see Makeb which was originally intended to be free, but could not be due to whatever reasons. While I had no problem buying it, the fact it's going free now is insulting, regardless of the price tag. It's the principle of the matter. Again, let me remind everyone that I do not hate the game, the community or BioWare. If I did, I would not be here, I would not have paid for everything in regards to this game and I would not be wasting my or your time with a post. But BioWare did fail, their original goals of maintaining an active investment base (subs) fell flat on its face. Measuring current success could be similar to being a mortician, you take a mangled dead body and make it presentable to a large audience. I am not saying this game is dead, clearly it's not, but it could be doing better, a lot better. My question would be the following: How many players did you lose to Makeb becoming a pay to add content bundle when they were told it was suppose to be free? How many of those players are you hoping to return to the game after it goes free? How many players did you lose to your space battle content? How many of those players are you hoping to return after sssp is launched? Will SSSP be a pay to add content pack? Do you think players will buy it when they now know, they can wait you out until you make it free? -written on my phone, apologies for any errors.
  5. Hello, I am and have been a long time SW:TOR subscriber, I am not leaving the game nor do I have plans to abandon ship because I am in an amazing Guild with great players who love this game because it's the closest thing we have to a passable Star Wars game. I have to say this now though, this game is nowhere as good as it should be, at all. There was unlimited potential to this game, with the budget as it was. At first, I was enamored with my Sith Warrior Sith Pureblood and how I ran around the Galaxy like a jumped up super thug. But it does wear off, as it will in most MMO's, things can and will get stale. Now the game comes down to contemplating another alt or waiting until new content comes out. Which is par for the course in most cases. But there is a lot still missing from this game that should be here! Worlds shouldn't be tiny sections, they should be places teeming with hidden things to explore. The force should have been something deep and vast to explore with your character, with features that allow you to set your character slightly apart from the myriad of other Warriors or Knights in the galaxy (every class, really!). But that potential will always be the stars as studios continue to crash into the moon. Budget, milestones, forced release dates, publisher pressure and executives who are so disconnected from the reality of what gamers want know will always get in the way. This game did fail though, it failed those who had their hearts set on everything in the first 3 months. I watched family and friends jump ship because there just wasn't enough and the freedom wasn't there. (This isn't a sandbox vs. Themepark thread either, so holster your weapons). I am not here to stoke a fire or piss of people, though if you get pissed, you need to log off and take a breather. You have a game that people were dying to play until they played it, and while this is your baby, the term drowning your baby is common in the gaming industry. I will continue to support this game out of hope, out of blind faith and the thought that maybe if people keep pounding it into you guys that you should start taking things off the wall of crazy and start putting them into the game. Or start on updating your source code to work on the latest version of the Hero Engine, that way you can squeeze more out. Finally, I really think you should take a note from this man, it took a tremendous amount of pride swallowing to do what he did. "Thank you for your continued interest in and support of FINAL FANTASY XIV. While more than two months have passed since the official launch of FINAL FANTASY XIV service, we deeply regret that the game has yet to achieve the level of enjoyability that FINAL FANTASY fans have come to expect from the franchise, and for this we offer our sincerest of apologies. After thorough deliberation on how to meet those expectations, it was decided that the most viable step was to approach improvements under new leadership and with a restructured team. To realize this vision, and in doing so, provide our customers with a better game experience, we have assembled our company's top talent and resources. Taking over the role of producer and director is Naoki Yoshida, a passionate individual for whom customer satisfaction has always taken top priority. Not only is he one of our Group's most accomplished and experienced members, Naoki Yoshida is also a charismatic leader possessing the skill to bring together and effectively helm a team which encompasses a wide range of responsibilities. We also welcome several new leaders handpicked from other projects to work with the existing talent on FINAL FANTASY XIV. We realize time is of the essence and are fully determined to provide our customers with quality service. It is because of this that we ask our customers to be patient until we are able to confidently present them with a concrete plan outlining FINAL FANTASY XIV's new direction. The free trial period will be extended until that time. Regarding the PlayStation 3, it is not our wish to release a simple conversion of the Windows version in its current state, but rather an update that includes all the improvements we have planned. For that reason, we have made the difficult decision to delay the release of the PlayStation 3 version beyond the originally announced date of March 2011. The FINAL FANTASY XIV team is working hard to bring our customers an unparalleled adventure, and we ask for your continued understanding and support as we march ever diligently towards that goal. President and CEO, Yoichi Wada" TL;DR Say sorry, acknowledge the mess and state of the game overall and start over. Those of us who love BioWare still, will stay and see what you can do. PS: SSSP, don't let us down. It's a glimmer of hope, but people are starting to catch on.
  6. Not quite, you pay for your TV service on a monthly basis as well. What's wrong about this is the fact that the product was originally suppose to be the largest free content update seen in the history of MMO's, then came with a $10 price tag for subs and a $20 for F2P. The very notion that they're giving it away for free now, whether it's a paltry $10 or not, is fundamentally wrong. It either displays the state of the game decaying more or it has no real regard for the supporting fan base who not only throws their money at this game monthly, but will support them by investing in what should have been free to begin with. Everyone needs to get paid, sure, but don't spit on the people making those payments. It's petty and dishonest. All I have to say is, SSSP better be damn good. On the note of rants, perhaps BioWare should take a page from Square-enix and say sorry for the game, then rebuild it from the ground up using their assets. Re-release the game in a years time and take a few queue's from current game design successes.
  7. My beef is that this was suppose to make Artifice profitable again and instead the dye system is who-red out by the Cartel Market. Here's some cool dye stuff, but all of the desirable colors will be released by the Cartel market only, because **** you crafter guys. No, you can't make good color crystals with high stats that players want, because we made these awesome twink crystals with colors that people will pay cash money for. Yeah, lets do the same thing with dyes... right at the same time. How about this, you let us craft dyes for color crystals and let us build any damn combination we want. In order for us to learn how to craft specific colors and crystals, you make us RE the crystals from Drops. Knowing my luck, they would sell me the ability to do something like this anyways.
  8. 5. It's the one part of Star Wars GL didn't **** up and left mysterious. We don't need this **** ruined, we really don't need it playable.
  9. 9k is expensive? It was more expensive in the past and it's not like you change your gear daily. If you do, you got a problem. Any cheaper and it would be free. The cost is fine, you just need to cut your spending habits.
  10. No. Yay it is list time! I play because of the following: Awesome guild with awesome people! Functional Mechanics Fun! Love the combat before and after 2.0 Friends and family play too! Illusion of choice, BW trademark Something familiar but different Ease of access Occassional challenge (this could be ramped up a bit) I enjoy the combat design, a lot The lol haters that cant seem to leave the game The era this game is set in Star Wars does play a factor, but that was what drew me in, the above is what keeps me The game has typical issues, typical for this genre. You can never nail down an mmo because everybody has different expectations and demands for this type of game. I take it as it is and enjoy what I love about it. No sense pretending to be a better dev than the devs, they have jobs in the industry. A bonus... Sith Pureblood, that's just a ****** species right there.
  11. I agree! Seems like someone else made another thread about this too! Noobs still don't know how to search!
  12. Who ever hit the send button on that email, should come say hello and have their forum name be Huff Cartel. They also need a custom avatar, a Hutt with a monocle and top hat.
  13. I knew the Hutt's were pretentious and stuck up, but did we need to get an email about it?
  14. It's not horrible, you just spend too much time thinking about it. It was an offer open to anyone and there was a deadline. You did not meet that deadline, you did not throw your full support behind the product before the cut off date, which was extended, for this exact reason. But even with that grace period given, you failed to act. All of you who didn't get it, failed to act. If you failed to act, you don't get the offer and just because you feel jilted, for whatever self justifying reason, you believe that the people who did act, deserve to be punished. You believe that it is fair to rip away a deal that was honored by both parties because you didn't act when you had a rather large chance? Is that really fair? When in all likely hood, you were too lazy to do anything when you had the chance? I mean, to get the offer and qualify for early access is pretty easy. It could all be done online. You would have to be beyond lazy to not accomplish such a task, with such a large window. Perhaps you had other reasons that you couldn't make the easiest deadline in the world: Too poor Groundhog day, stuck in an infinite loop Did not feel the xpac was worth the money until after you heard it from friends Was against the xpac and "put your money where your mouth was" Lazy Never turned in an assignment on time, ever, in your history of education Too busy eating bacon Went on vacation Just came out from under a rock Time traveller dropped you off a year into the future so you could check out the state of the game, but you have to go back in time on the 14th Had a meh' moment Left the game several times to make some kind of point, no one cared, so you came back to stir the pot You never read a single shred of information posted on this website or lack the understanding of a basic purchase incentive Your favorite past time is forum QQ You just wanted to jump on this "end early access" bandwagon to get a high post count Look at all these words! I made you sit and read all of this for nothing, ha. And that's how you make a split pea soup.
  15. Not my preferred play style but also, none of my business. Here is an idea, don't spend your in game time hitting on female toons. That's a pile of pixels, not the controller of that pixelated vehicle. Now, the real question is: If you assumed someone was a female based on their "avatar", had long and deep conversations for months, thinking yourself in love, then you find out the person is the same gender you are, what does that make you? A fool? Duped? Lied to? What if that person never picked up on your crazy online attention and was just playing a game? They never did any pretending or do anything to lead anyone to believe they were of any specified gender. Who is at fault? This is an exercise of judgement and a mature understanding that this is a MMORPG. There will be all sorts of characters playing this game. One would also be wise to remember that this is a game, where we play games, not look for dates or late night company.
  16. This isn't your ISP and even then, they won't refund you anything because there is an agreement that stipulates your services are not guaranteed. Grow up, servers are taken offline in every MMO and it's planned, you get a warning stating that. So I hope they double charge you instead, serves you right.
  17. OP is acting as if he/she is a baby and a troll. This thread is useless and if the servers have to go down, they have to go down. Gaming prime time? Who cares, go get a beer and catch up on a TV series or say hi to your kid, wife, family , friends or the dog. Just another QQ thread about absolutely nothing integral to survival or anything relevant to actual gaming. Now, if the servers went down and you logged in with everything you ever earned wiped out. Raise a fuss, tell someone who needs to know. Otherwise, you're just another one of these people who come on here to say negative crap and throw in a free advert for another game. That right there pegs this off as a poor troll thread. So now I have a few questions completely relevant to this thread. Do you throw a fit when your pop-tart burns? If you, a doctor and a goat enter the thunderdome, who walks out alive? If you were a ninja turtle, which turtle would you be? When you stub your toe, do you scream at what you stubbed your toe on? If you asked for no pickles and you get pickles, how do you react? There is one cookie left, and you have a choice, eat the cookie or give it to whatever is behind the curtain. what do you do? You lost in pvp, badly, the same guy is ganking you every match, what do you yell at your monitor? You're playing cod, because the servers never go down and you like that, but you keep getting teabagged, what do you say into your headset? Potato or potato? Is getting 2-6 hours of time to do something with life such a bad thing? Don't you have anything better to do when a server goes down? Now before you start pointing fingers at me! This super awesome person that I am! I play two nights a week, completed my raid gear sets from tfb HM on that schedule. I post on the forums while I commute to work, because the company I had on this commute is about as sharp as a trout. I am also sexy, married to a model and we are having our first child this July. So yes, I even have sex and have often ditched a raid for some wife loving. Sometimes you need to be forced out of a game and you shouldn't be all butthurt about it. Because the only person who made a terrible decision, was you. P.S. the goat walks away.
  18. Oh, you rolled a warrior type class and can't handle all the combat? Poor baby, maybe you should have played as a juggernaut for the extra armor, or a sorc for that extra lightning! Maybe a sniper would do better? Or any kind of bounty hunter? They have AOE attacks you say? Oh well, looks like us warrior types just have to toughen up. I mean, the regular mobs die in one hit, the elites go down after one ravage and the champs take maybe 30 seconds to die from one complete rotation. It's better than walking to every objective without resistance. That would be boring as hell.
  19. Now, I only had 27 quests completed and I was able to hit 51 in 10 minutes. That was it though, no more than that. So I could assume that they had every area quest from 45-50 tacked onto a maxed out quest log. I am not sure what the total number of those area quests are, but because they can add on top of your quest log even if it is already full, one could assume they had them all completed. Now, plowing to 55 that way, is pretty lame. But it has no bearing on me and I don't know where that falls to in regards to exploitation. It was mechanically possible, which could have been prevented if someone had figured it out internally. Oh well, Bioware will address it if they see a problem. Otherwise it shouldn't really matter to the rest of us.
  20. I understand the butthurt and jealousy that's happening here, but, that does not change the fact that the early access was an offer with multiple purposes. Firstly, stagger server load for ease. Secondly, reward those who have always had faith in this game and will pay for the content without even knowing much about it. Thirdly, incentive to have other players invest as well. Like all good offers, there is a deadline and one was already changed for the masses. The $10 purchase price was a limited offer that they extended forever. That being said, this offer has already underway and to take away what has been given because a few people couldn't bother to get it before hand is an insult. You don't deserve it and you only want it because someone else does and you don't. Maybe next time, you will do it right.
  21. Droid race? Meh, your personality has too many quirks, it's time for a memory wipe. Not really a race... But for any other oddly shaped, organic life form, I can see and support that.
  22. Force Choke doesn't seem to obey a lot of things. Like perhaps, when a target is choked and in the middle of the channel, they land on the ground to pop off a few shots or take a few swings and then resume being choked. Warrants some investigation, that's for damn sure.
  23. The games, my poor friend, the games. Not all titles are available on every platform. If you can only afford to save up and upgrade your computer once every 4-10 years (ignoring Moores Law), then that's good for you and your budget. I game to game, and regardless of platform, I love the medium. So, Hardware elitism is a joke or an excuse, take your pick.
