  1. Who said anything about playing Gimped? At no point did I suggest the Sentinel is Gimp. It also is by no means a face roll class. It takes a given amount of understanding of how to get the most out of it to make it work. It is the most complex class in the game, there are no I win Buttons, no repeat spamming, you have to manage your cooldowns, focus and centering, while ensuring you set up the best combinations to make it work. Is this impossible… No where near it. Is it face Roll??? Not at all. There is nothing wrong with the way the Sentinel plays, as I said it is not OP, it is Not UP. And if you had have actually read my post you may have noticed this fact.
  2. Stealios. I can be certain from my experience that you are full of Bovine Excrement, The Sentinel by its self does not have the Control, Mitigation, or Mobility, to Outmatch any other class. Yes it has DPS, It has Truckloads of it. I am a Very good PvE Sentinel, and at best a mediocre PvP player, and I can see the strengths and weaknesses of the class enough to know that if I put in the time/effort/energy to become good at TOR PvP I will compete effectively as a Sentinel, but face roll??? Give me a Break. But of course if you want to be a wowser and go on and on about how it is SOOOO OP And how no one can stand up to it, feel free, but anyone who has played any real amount of PvP or PvE content will know that your input is just hot air… Well this being an electronic forum, call it wasted electrons.
  3. HAHAHAH… For Months I have been hearing how I play the Gimp Spec, Now I am suddenly playing the Face roll spec… Seriously people have to learn the concept of restraint when they talk. Nothing in Star WOW is hard. Nothing in Star WOW is complex. The Sentinel is Not OP for any of the 3 specs. The Sentinel is not UP for any of the 3 specs. The Sentinel is not impossibly complex to play. The Sentinel is not a Faceroll character to play. Some other things to consider. DPS Is not the be all and end all of any fight PvP or PvE, Interrupts, Control, Debuffs, Mitigations, Stuns, CC, the list goes on, are all factors as well. For Example, I have been playing a Sage, My Sentinel DPS At the same levels Buried my Sage DPS, but, My Sage’s Survivability is still far greater. Really can all the QQing Wowsers bury it for a little wile and actually allow the people who want the game to be better to be heard among the clamour of all the noise.
  4. I don’t know about Short end of the stick again, but yes force sweep is a pretty Lame Legacy ability
  5. Hey look a little bit of search and look what you find… http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=43612&highlight=Valis http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=50315&highlight=Valis http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=307551&highlight=Valis http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=378150&highlight=Valis
  6. You do know that force kick goes off and interrupts whatever you are doing no matter how long the animation is right? That is why it is called an interrupt.
  7. And you have it right there. I would be using focused slash to fill that space to prepare for my next big focus burn. Pilk is filling the same time using Repost. So… Learn what works for you, and how to play a Sentinel to your style.
  8. The above responses are not quite true. It depends on your spec. So for example as a combat spec sent Repost is a waste, and once you get Blade rush so is slash. But this is not the same for Watchmen or Focus. I also personally don’t use transcendence, though Some PvP threads indicate that in PvP it is used heavily. As has been said above The Sentinel puts to use a vast array of skills, and it also lends its self to distinctly different DPS play styles. That is part of what makes it so great to play.
  9. Yes it is the right forum. And the function you are looking for is Search. There are several threads outline this fight in particular detail. In short. Make sure your gear is good. Don’t waste your force leap as an opener. Put your back to the boxes and use your interrupts to stop his big hits.
  10. If you do all the side quests you will be 24/25 when you hit him, and if you have read the advice here and take it on you will Steam Roll him Happy Hunting
  11. I am not saying that this is at all untrue, but as I pointed out in my post, there are two alternatives, 1) Start having mobs hitting things at range endangering your healers and removing all predictability in fights and as such making it a luck game instead of a skill game 2) Removing these sort of abilities all together and as such making it boring to play. So given those two options, I’ll take the fact that as melee you just have to be more on the ball. Keep your force leap ready to go for knockbacks and just say thank you for the extra focus, and play to your strengths.
  12. So Combat is too hard for you to play is it? There is nothing “Gimped” about combat. Some people understand how to play it, and make good use of it, Some people don’t
  13. If that was aimed at me then it was misdirected. I am a defender of the game in general, but this was a poor call. They have further undermined any sort of player economy. Yes you can still make sales, but making these things available from vendors and not player craftable is pretty poor when most crafters already see that there market has been poorly managed.
  14. That statement is perfect... "Our" not "everyone's". so far the melee classes get the shaft in just about every way in tor, and they don't get the extra damage to make up for it. If you are going to put one class or damage type (melee) at such a disadvantage, where is the up side to balance it out? Where is the down side for ranged classes being ranged? Right now they have all the benefits and none of the negatives. Situational doesn’t mean we get screwed… For Example. As a Sentinel I can button spam on my big hitters and I will do less damage than as a Sage or Shadow DPS, Or I can situational use my stun and Pommel strike, My Force Leap and Opportune strike, and then my Precision Slash before Blade Storm, and I will have greater DPS than a Sage or Shadow. (And Then Blade Rush all over the place to really start making things work for you) This means that as a Class you have to be a better player to play the Sentinel, but you can get better results if you know what you are doing. If the game doesn’t have things like PB Knockback or PBAoE they have two choices, one they can drop there agro table and hit things that are not near them (With the likelihood of killing healers or stunning healers and wiping encounters) or they can remove these sort of mechanics all together and make the game inherently Boring. Yes Melee have it hard, that is a statement of fact. It takes more attention to play a Melee well that is a fact. But Melee is Fun. I can 3 button spam with a Sage, or I can mix it up with a Sentinel and have fun. I’ll play the Sentinel thanks.
  15. At low levels there is little difference, but as the level increases so does the disparity. Once you hit late 20s to early 30s the Sentinel is much faster at taking out mobs, and its fragility becomes very apparent. Playing a Guardian you can measure out your combat and have a little time to think. Playing the Sentinel you can take things out very VERY quickly. But if you don’t you are dead. Personally I love playing the Sentinel, it is a case of Playing on the Edge. And if you are not on the edge you are taking up to much space.
  16. It is funny ready threads like this, I had a guardian friend of mine complaining that PvP was getting boring for him because no one died. He couldn’t kill anything but nothing could kill him. So this would indicate Fragile was not an issue for him.
  17. Hey… Look over there at a whole thread on the subject… http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=74205
  18. And then they patched them And Broke them Even More. What on Earth were BW thinking when after every crafter complaining about the fact that they have no High level market because of Dailies giving away equal or better gear than we can make they then went and made it so the one item we (Artificers) could still make the best of (Short of raid gear) can now be bought from a Vendor. Well Done BW Why not put the Schematics and Materials out there for white and whatever other colour crystals including for Power and Expertise and give us more market instead of less BW you have shown you have absolutely no Idea.
  19. How about you read all the threads that have already been posted on this exact subject and look at all the advice from those of us who know how to play the Sentinel. I have put huge amounts of time into helping people like you and can’t be bothered writing it all again because you cant use the search function. You are over the level where you have Doc so if you can’t play now then the problem is in how you are playing. In Short. Use your defensive and attacking cooldowns, Stack your attacks so that you make the most of the big hitters. Make sure your gear is up to date, (Spend all your commendations making sure every piece of gear is within 2 levels of your current level or orange with all the mods being within two levels of your current level.) For your companion do the same to their gear as to yours.
  20. There is no Advice to give. They storyline played out, and it is done. Your choices have consequences You made the choices, and unlike a single player game there is no save game.
  21. Terko, your comments show that you have absolutely no understanding how the knight classes work The focus mechanic makes the Knight a very dynamic class to play. You can control your resources instead of being restricted to a resource pool with a set growth rate. If you want a limited pool play a Shadow, If you want a dynamic class that you balance your resources in, play a knight. But don’t make all classes work the same way, where is the fun in that?
  22. I am not sure, but I think the Proc limiter is a dodgy cheats way of coding so it doesn’t proc and then from the proc trigger a proc which triggers a proc which triggers a… I think you get the picture
  23. So you want your Cousin to lend you his Girlfriend? Why does that sound so Wrong?
  24. Let us look at SOA in EV. Front Loaded DPS Takes out Mindtraps much faster than loading DOTs. When his shields get taken out by the dropping pyramids Front Loaded DPS is better than dots. When Dropping down the levels taking out the power pyramid things Front loaded Damage is better than Loading up DOTs While we are talking about EV… Let us look at the Puzzle where you have waves of small mobs… Front loaded is better than DOTs. But let us not just look at Bosses let us also look at all the trash you work your way through in a lot of hard modes the trash is no different to a normal mode, it is just the bosses that have been bumped up. So when clearing your way through to things a Front loaded DPS that can take out mobs in 2 hits has value. You get all the trash cleared and get everyone focused on the big mobs. Pure DPS is not the only question to be answered here.
  25. Ummm.. Yes it does. Your point (As I interpret it) is that mobs shouldn’t use these abilities except for actual boss mobs. Why? Why not have this sort of thing peppered throughout the game. There are normal mobs that Heal, strong mobs that AoE Lightning like a MoFo And… There are Elites that have knockbacks and stuns. The Key game element I see in this is that it means that tanking is not just about the tank. If the tank get stunned everyone has to consider their agro management. They have to Think a Little. That is the point of these specials, they stop everything just being a DPS race (Tank and Spank) and mean that people have to think about the situational state in which they are playing. Seriously if you are thrown by a little knock back (Yeah bad pun) then you don’t want to play a Knight class because so many of our abilities are situational.
