  1. Amazing descriptions. thank you all so much!!! Looks like I'll have to try my hand at the operative/smugger and Sage/Sorcerer characters
  2. Great! Also, just out of curiosity, for other WoW players out there, what class would most resemble those of the disc priest? I had looked at the BH/Trooper before, but it looked more HoT based (I was a terrible druid). Operative/Smuggler would resemble...?
  3. Thank you! So that would be smuggler on republic side? Is there a major difference in play other than story?
  4. Hi all. I'm a former WoW player starting back in SWTOR. I initially bought the game at launch but didn't get far and sort of stopped playing due to one thing or another that always comes up. So now that it's almost 3 years later, I've decided to return and am interested in the healer role. I'm used to playing a healing role in all MMOs that I've played in the past. I'm looking for a good, not insanely complicated healing class here. I've been through the forums and have seen a lot of information for those already at level cap healing operations. But since I'm starting from scratch, I need a little help finding the right fit. (For instance, I was both a disc priest and holy pally in WoW. I was a casual raider in 10/mans so I wasn't a top tier healer needed for progression) I understand that the new patch just dropped and there are a lot of grumblings on what has happened with each of the class, but was hoping to get some help in selecting one to start gaming with again. I plan on soloing as none of my friends are playing (stuck in wow). Thanks!
  5. Hi all. While I'm not exactly new, I have been away for 2 years so it feels like I'm a new player again. I'm playing a brand new Sith Sorcerer as a healer. I know that back when the game came out, you needed to put your first 5 points in the Lightning tree (Reserves and Electric Induction) to lower the cost of healing and gain the additional force. My question is after those first 5 points, do I put an additional 2 points in lightning to better my bubble (Lightning Barrier) or 2 points in Madness to up my willpower (Will of the Sith), or do I actually start to go into the Corruption tree. I've been looking for a guide/tips on leveling as a healer, but most of what I've seen are dated back to 2011 and most of those are based of off Beta data so I'm not sure if it's still relevant. I plan on doing FP mostly with some solo questing on the side. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  6. Thank you for the reply. The only thing that I'm concerned with this strategy is that I would have to be level 36 to get to the top of my tree before putting those points in the force reduction skills. Won't that affect my healing output doing those higher FP's?

  8. Thank you!!! Now I'm off to spend those two points I didn't know what to do with :/
  9. Thanks for the help. When would be the best time to get the 2 points for Willpower? since that is our major stat, I just thought you'd get that right away.
  10. Hi guys. My sage is only level 16, however, I have a question about distributing the talent points. I've been following the Offensive Leveling Build (30/9/2) from the sticky and have placed my first 5 points into Mental Longevity and Inner Strength. I have two points left and wasn't sure if I'm supposed to fill out Will of the Jedi first or go directly into the Seer tree. If Will of the Jedi is first, then no problem as I'm sure I can muddle through the rest. However, if it isn't, at what point do you switch from Seer to Balance to take those 2 points? Thanks for the help!
  11. Subscriptions charge a tax depending on what your tax rate is for where you live. Example, I live in TX and while playing WoW, paid $16.18 a month. My cousin lives in CA and for the same subscription pays $16.03. My sales tax is 8.25% and his is 7.25%.
  12. Thank you so much. Biochem looked like the "go to" craft. Gathering would be Bioanalysis and... diplomacy?
  13. I lol'd for real here at work. But yea, that's about the gist of it...unless you were in a guild that continuously stood in bad... Made me work. So another question, what crafts are best for healers? I always did tailoring and enchanting, but I don't know how that converts to SWTOR. The crafts and gathering skills are way different.
  14. Thanks so much for the info. I'm a healer at heart, so I know once I get to lvl 10+ (on my jedi), i'll mainly be healing through out the rest of my leveling. So learning how to heal without any help from add ons (curse you wow) is going to be important to me if I'm going to be able to efficient for end game content.
  15. I'm a recent convert from WoW and I've always played a healer. I just started playing a couple days ago and am learning a lot through the leveling process. My question is, do we have the ability to create mouse over macros or is everything point and 'click'? I'm used to using healing add-ons such as Vuhdo or Clique, etc..., but from my understanding there is none for this MMO. I don't even see any kind of raid frame either. Could an experienced healer give some advice? Thanks for the help. Trying to get over my initial overwhelming confusion. lol
  16. One more question. I've gone over the sticky numerous times now today and I think my mind is a bit frazzled... Is there any type of rotation...or maybe even skills I shouldn't be using? Given that I just started and of course I'm still level 10'ish, I seem to be using my LS a lot....like... A LOT. Even with my companion tank. Am I doing something wrong? Also, a quick questions about whirlwind... I see that you use it as a basic CC but reading the tool tip, it heals the mob that's in it? I'm confused... Edit: Oh! And one more thing...since this isn't that other mmo and there are no mods to use, can we use mouse over macros or is everything clicky now?
  17. Thanks guys! Very helpful information! Can't wait to get going
  18. Thank you so much for the info. So is just picking a healing build alright? I just don't want to gimp myself along the way.
  19. Hello all, I was hoping I could get some pointers as I just started playing yesterday and am finding myself overwhelmed a bit. I'm coming from the other MMO (not sure if I can name them in post) where I played a Disc Priest. I want to continue being heals especially since I have a companion now to take the brunt of attacks. Although I'll mainly be soloing so I'd like to do some decent damage as well so I don't feel like whittling away a mob's health with a spork. I was wondering if there was a specific leveling spec or if there were any tips I should know to continue down this route. I've looked over the stickies and they provide a lot of information, but a lot of the builds are end game and not sure if they are accurate for the leveling process. Just reached level 10 and the fleet and have selected Sorcerer already. Thanks in advance for the assistance.
