  1. Pure speculation on your figures. This is what you throw at anyone on here who comes up with some guess. A sub is a sub...sure the payment methods may vary in other countries and the amount will vary..but they are still "subscriptions" and are technically correct in counting them as such. What we can only count as officail are what they release in thier quarterly reports. Same for TOR..correct? Only last time no sub figures were released for TOR. Only a curve ball statement of " well above 500K". You said those subs which are in Asia remain active for life? How come Blizz themselves said in thier last quarterly report most of the 1.1 million subs lost where from the West/Asia?
  2. 40%+ expansion hemoridges? WoW the last quarterly report lost 1.1 million subs which is about 10% of thier sub base. The two quarters before that, they had no lost...was stable at 10.2 million for two 3 month reporting cycles. Where do you get this 40%+ figures?
  3. I think this is true. Another example of how those in charge of this game donot use the right tools for a MMO. The game's official website is too much work for them to use? I can remember back earlier in the year they had some game website surveys. What happened to that idea?
  4. Yes. I love that feature about the traveling to destinations using the taxi service in LOTRO. If you realized you picked the wrong destination...no worry...dismount and go back or if you saw something you wanted along the way, dismount and go get it. A very logical design feature. LOTRO is a awesome game for exploration too. Glad you are enjoying TOR OP. Hope you continue.
  5. Exactly. The voice overs are a great initial attraction for the game at the start and is a great experence enhancer as you level. But has no holding power once you finish your class story for most. Spending the money more on the things which make for a great MMO would have been better than all they did to make the game a great single player RPG.
  6. We are not sure that was even the peak subs. I find it hard to beleave 700k copies was sold which the buyer never did atleast try the game out. And you had to sub to try it out. It may be they subbed and then canceled before the first month was over. 1.7 million was the first reported figures. He was still basically correct in his statement of the 2.4 million copies sold, TOR is down now to "maybe" 500k. But sence they would not release any official figures for the last quarter, even that is a guess. But it is more than likely not too far off.
  7. I have not played GW2 and have no plans to for a while atleast, as I am going to be too busy with MOP. But I do agree with that philosophy.
  8. "players' was used as a common reference for people who play TOR. Humans...comrades...etc etc. Get it? And no, you are not a liar. I never said you was. But you are wrong in your opinion on this, as is the others who agree with you is all I am saying.
  9. There was no "misinterpretations" from the players. They know what was said. And it was not a statement which was subject to interpretation, but one which was simple..to the point and clear. If anyone is not understanding it, it is you. The players are not at fault here.
  10. That is cool. And you feel you are getting your money's worth each month from playing the game. Nothing wrong with that. The only reason we should ever subscribe to a MMO. However, on the topic of the thread, the subscription base for the game is not really a "barrier" to playing the game as those in EA may think, it is the fact that for many, the game was simplly not worth the subscription each month.
  11. I agree with this. PVP players like to think they are the majority of most MMO's, but the truth is they usually only represent about 30% of the player base. I remember back in the days after the release of TBC expansion for WoW and the PVP crowd complaining to Blizz for more PVP content and Blizz's response was basically that only about 30% of thier player base PVP'ed on a regular bases. So it made sense for them to concentrate more on what the majority of thier player base wanted.
  12. One difference however is, WoW launched with a larger game world which also was more alive and things to do than TOR had at launch. I can remember when TBC came out, there was still some places in Vanilla I had not been to yet. Sure fishing and underwater environments, night/day cycles mean nothing to some. But for many, those are small, but important additions to a game world to give it life.
  13. And in MOP there will be even more to do....a lot more. 3 new raids, 9 heroic 5 mans and challenge modes , farming profession...the list goes on and on....
  14. No..he is not exaggerating. Some have the performance he has noted. Which I did..no issues at all with performance with me. I did not do any PVP however. But all the runs I did...and on the fleet, the performance was excellent. With all settings set to max. What some donot understand is...not all computers are equal, because behind each one is a player who may have different preferences when they play on thiers. Background programs...desktop settings...other stuff..etc etc.
  15. This is a common complaint from many and so I am sure there is a problem. But I am kind of baffled why this is...because for myself , with a not top of the line computer, I7 2600, Radeon 6850, Vsync on , monitor refresh set to 60 hz..all settings maxed..I was getting 60 fps everywhere..runs, on Fleet...etc. So my reasons for unsubbing had nothing to do with the optimizations.
  16. I think it is allready understandable by everyone why they had to do the transfers. Sure they have failed to meet thier expectations and I serously donot think they have half a million subs now. But Andryan is right..the PVE servers which are the ones left after the transfers is pretty stable. Maybe now a little less with a few playing GW2, but still subbed for TOR, but overall staying about the same. Also some players now that schools have started back up in a lot of places, are logging off sooner and you may see some lower pops earlier than they have been during the summer. But what is done is done. With FTP coming, I would say there will be without question a increase in the number of players playing...but how much of a profit increase it will bring to BioWare/EA remains to be seen.
  17. I been playing WoW for over 8 yrs...was in the closed beta for 6 months...so yeah..I certainly have got my money's worth. But WoW did not suffer the massive lost of subs in such a short time after launch like TOR has. And I did the 6 month sub for TOR because I really felt like it was going to be blast to play as a MMO. I was wrong. I donot have any bitterness over it tho. A good deal is a good deal. And we all make mistakes and hopefully learn from them.
  18. West or East Coast server? Keep in mind...Sunday night, all good kids should be in bed now for school tomorrow..
  19. It is going to be free to download here in a few short months. But I would'nt say that makes the game worth less. WoW still has a very strong sub base and they have a sale going on now, 20 dollars, which is super low for thier original and all 3 of the expansions. A ton less than I paid for them when they first released.
  20. Well..you do have the lego style shadows in TOR.
  21. Not going to happen. This was a subject which was debated over and over , until we where basically rehashing the same old points. Cross server LFG should have been implemented a long time ago. Atleast Rift decided it was a smart thing to add to thier MMO. And it works well there, I have used it.
  22. When it goes FTP, you will be able to download it for free.
  23. I really donot know. But I donot have a positive feel for it's future. They seem to lack the type of leadership it will take to salvage the game enough to get back a lot of those who have left.. Depends also I guess on how they do the FTP. Have not deleted it off my harddrive. And more then likely I will be back when they go FTP. Got nothing to lose by doing so. But I am not going to be paying while I wait to see how it does. Time proves all things.
  24. If they do allow it on the fleet, I would hope they would have the common sense to allow it only in a certain section of the Fleet...like make a new section you can access from the airlocks. Having it happen just anywhere on the fleet would be bad in my opinion. Would be a bit like allowing street fights inside malls.
