  1. Well, I hate to say it, but I'm not using powershot (or very rarely) and I'm doing just fine. Always in the top for damage, and low number of deaths since I'm constantly on the run. Cooldowns on jet escape and shield are enough for the odd time that a stealthy gets close enough. Maybe power shot features in PvE, I wouldn't know
  2. It may be a nerf, but at least for me it's a skill that I use the least. Like someone said earlier, if I use power shot it's rarely because it requires me to stay stationary and I might as well paint a big target sign over my head. If I use it, then it's with the instant-cast ability, and because Rail Shot is still on cooldown and Unload didn't proc it. For me, if Unload didn't proc rail shot, I use rapid shots, or if my heat is low start dotting another target. If I really want to spend time casting, then I usually go for a fusion missile into a crowd, this is normally combined with the no-heat skill, unless my heat is really low. Power shot just doesn't feature in my rotation, it's a filler and very situational.
  3. That's exactly how I do it, depending on the heat it might even be rapid shots > rail shot etc, but I hit rail shot as soon as possible so that unload/powershot can reset it and make it free.
  4. nah, i've played hybrid up until a few days ago. never went full arsenal since it felt retarded enough with just tracer missile. i'd say you're wrong about survivability, the only great thing about the hybrid spec and pvp gear is the low cooldown on the jet escape, but if you get focused you go down just as easy, and i felt i wasn't all that useful. 100k damage and 100k healing out of a hybrid spec, or 300-400k damage out of a pyro spec, it's a big difference. the other thing of course is the fun factor. it wasnt much fun going around farting missiles and healing people who die anyway. protecting the ball carrier was about the only "fun" thing you do, with all the jet escapes and heals. pyro is a lot more interesting to play, and while it misses a lot of the "survivability" talents that you get as a hybrid, you actually have a lot better survivability by playing differently. i die a lot less and do a lot more damage, and i can heal myself when needed.
  5. Um, who's supposed to be an idiot here? Excuse my ignorance but I see two sides to this. One set of idiots sitting put and launching rockets from their asses and another set of idiots sitting still and taking repeated assrockets to their face until they die. I'll be glad when this is over.
  6. Wow, is anybody still playing arsenal? Tracer isn't bad, but it's highly visible and there are too many loltards getting squashed by people sitting in one place and spamming one ability. It was bound to happen. On the other hand I hope they leave pyro alone, since there are no rockets shot from asses in that tree and no combat logs to analyse and see what killed you.
  7. well, at least pyro doesnt have any long animations that fill up the entire screen and produce horrible sounds, so all those qq children won't know whats hitting them next. and without a combat log they really will stay clueless
  8. Speaking of loltards, I've had a guy complaining on general chat in Huttball over my tracer missle spam, which wasn't really excessive, but what can I do when he just stays in the open within my range. So I decided to prove a point and used rapid shots ONLY. I picked the guy out and killed him three times in a row with nothing but RAPID SHOTS! That stopped the general chat spam, but I guess we'll have people spamming the forum now how OP rapid shots are
  9. Well 1.5s apart isn't that much, but also keep in mind that by the time you get hit by the first tracer missile, the second one is already on it's way, because of the long trajectory animation. It may give an appearance that there is a missile in the air the whole time, because by the time you get hit by one, the next one has finished casting.
  10. I levelled as hybrid with Mako and never had any problems. Arsenal up to tracer missile and the heat venting talent (forgot what its called) and then points into bodyguard. Easy peasy.
  11. The easiest way to fix the tracer spam is to simply learn to play, if it kills you then rapid shots would kill you as well. If you see someone just sitting and spamming tracer missiles: 1) they are a noob 2) they are an easy kill If you just sit there and take the missiles in your face: 1) you are a noob 2) you are an easy kill So, what to do with a tracer spammer? First, interrupt his cast, it's a 1.5s cast time and every class has an interrupt. Then move closer while they spam the one key and can't figure out what is going wrong. As the interrupt wears out and they start casting just move out of their line of sight when they're almost finished casting, this will really piss them off. Finally, when you get close to them just run around them and pew-pew-pew while they wonder what the message "you need to be facing your target" means. Do not confuse this with a player who fires off 3 tracer missiles (to get the armor reduction) and then proceeds to annihilate the target with other abilities. These players are still fairly easy to kill, but may actually have a brain and know what to do when they see someone trying to get into melee range.
  12. The biggest problem is still the amount of time it takes BW to perform the maintenance. I really don't know what they waste the time on. Maybe the server room is getting repainted and new wooden floors once a week?! Nobody in Europe would have a problem with the maintenance during the day if it lasted 15 minutes, but 8h is just plain stupid. I'm guessing a huge architecture flaw is at the heart of this and there's nothing that can be done about it now.
  13. Reading through the patch notes and I can't believe it... So many incredible updates to the game, wow! Was the entire development team on holidays for the past week? There are so many major issues with the game, and you update text and loading screens?!
  14. I dunno, this game strikes me as a lot more casual than WoW. It will probably not suit no-lifers, ie. people who expect to spend 12-16h a day on it. For someone looking to do 1-2 PvP matches in the evening and maybe an OP at the weekend I'd say it's fairly ok. The whole game needs another 6 months or a year of beta testing, you can see that the release was forced by EA in order for the game to appear before Christmas and boost the revenue for 2011. It's a pity though, if they gave it another few months it would have been better for everybody involved.
  15. They nerfed it before the release, it's a new thing... pre-nerf!
  16. If they showed it in 1D it would be a good movie. Just a flat line on the screen. They could do it in high def as well, so it could be 1DHD!
  17. So US folks would get to see new content (once in a blue moon) a few hours ahead of EU players? Big deal, who cares?! I guess BW is just going to keep adding more time zones to the maintenance notice until they run out of space on the screen
  18. Surely this is the definition of epic fail Well done BW!
  19. Also, performing maintenance at the same time for EU and US servers is idiotic. We live in different time zones, maintenance windows should be chosen when there's the least amount of impact for the users, which is obviously not going to be the same for everybody.
  20. I dunno about the rest, but 2 points spent on alacrity seems like a waste to me. It's not like you'll get a tangible difference with 4% alacrity. I'd rather spend them on custom enviro suit or anything else for that matter.
  21. Hi folks, I'm lv 37 and soon to be maxed on the warzone commendations. I have already bought a champion bag that I can't open yet, and it's unique, and I have 1000 merc commendations. Is there anything meaningful to spend these on? I'm gonna dump 1000/1000 into a speeder bike just so they don't go to waste. Don't think that buying lv40 gear is really worth much, but maybe I should?
  22. If you're Arsenal then High Velocity Gas Cylinder is your choice. Combustible is for Pyro. as for the Rail Shot, you can use it as soon as you land one Tracer Missile so you don't need the proc from Combustible Gas Cylinder. If you don't have Tracer yet, you could play with Combustible until you level enough to get it.
  23. I hope somebody gets back to you on this because I'd like to know as well. I haven't tried the Pyro spec yet but I was thinking of going with a similar build to yours. There's a nice thread now for pyro specced mercs in the forums, maybe a kind soul would grace us with their appearance and shed some light on the subject. It's all theory anyway until we have combat logs to analyze.
  24. You must have a crazy crit% with that build. I'm only wondering if you need tracer missile in there at all. I mean it reduces armor, yet all your other damage dealing abilities deal elemental damage, where (if i'm correct) armor doesn't play a role. I think you'd have a lot more use from removing stabilisers and tracer missle and investing them elsewhere. But maybe I'm wrong about tracer?
