  1. Oh please. SWTOR is like a Hyundai compact coupe--a cheap copy of a Benz.
  2. I have the same sentiments as the OP. The reason why I am still playing is because I paid $60 for 1 included month of amusement. However, once this 1 month is over, I'll go back to WoW because...this game blows. There is no other way to describe it. Trust me, I'll be gone after the free month is over, and so will half the people who bought this game. There is absolutely nothing here that makes paying $15 a month worth it. You know as well as I that there is no where to go but down in subscriber numbers. Maybe I'll be back in 6 months to gloat with links to news of merged servers and low subscriber numbers. You know it. I know it. Don't delude yourself.
  3. The reason why Bioware will not allow addons or combat logs, is because a combat log will reveal just how unbalanced the classes are. Basically, they are hoping for blissful ignorance amongst the playerbase. If there is no combat log, then the players won't complain that so-and-so class does 50% more dps than theirs. It makes sense, really. Since they don't have to worry about players complaining about class balance, they don't have to spend money paying programmers and designers to balance the classes. It's a win-win situation: they save money by not fixing imbalances, and the n00bs in the game feel like they're contributing in boss fights (even though they are not).
  4. I'm looking for the server forums. I'm on Swiftsure. Can someone post a link?

    Ahazi SWG

I'm from Ahazi too! Playing on Swiftsure and Harbinger.
  6. I was a BH on Ahazi from launch until the NGE. I was the greatest BH on Ahazi with the highest number of Jedi kills during the holocron-grind days. Jedi would scurry like cockroaches exposed to the light when they would see me coming in. Those were the days.
  7. "Anemia" isn't even a disease. It's just a word to describe when you do not have enough red blood cells. Maybe the GM who flagged it is just stupid and is confusing it with "bulemia"--which could be an offensive word.
  8. Yeah the horrible UI design is my biggest problem with the game (second biggest problem is the lack of dynamic gameplay). I think the issue with the UI is that the lead UI "designer" isn't a designer at all--but rather a fine artist/illustrator. No thought was put into usability or interaction with the environment and other players. I've played the game for 3 days straight, and not once have I spoken with another player. This is mainly due to the fact that I do not know when someone is talking to me, nor is it self-evident how to talk to another person. For the life of me, I just do not understand why there are NO chat bubbles. How could they leave something like that out? Are we just supposed to watch "Barrens Chat" in the upper left-hand window scroll by at 20 point type in the hopes that someone will mention my name in the 4 seconds it takes for a new message to scroll by? It's ridiculous.
  9. It would be even nicer if the devs weren't lazy and coded a need-before-greed system exactly like WoW's that considers player class and spec.
  10. I've played for 3 days straight now, and I've yet to run into any bugs, lag, or CTDs. However, I am very much disappointed in the game overall. They had 5 years of development time and 100+ million dollars to play with, and they came up with such poor game design, animation design, user interface design. It is as if the game was developed by a 5-man studio with a 100 thousand dollar budget instead of a 100 million dollar budget. This title is like a static movie, or one of those old school choose-your-own adventure books. You're just there for the ride passively watching the world instead of actively participating/changing it. Once players burn through all the cut-scenes and cheesy voice-overs in two months, there is nothing else to do--nothing to engage and hook the player. The game has zero substance after that. The voice-overs are so ridiculously bad that I started to spacebar through them once I got to level 15.
  11. Hi all. I'm so glad to be back and am ready to PWN jedi once again!
  12. I got into the EGA today and the gameplay is exactly like it was on the Thanksgiving stress test--i.e., it still blows. Since I logged in and played, is it too late for me to cancel my pre-order? Or does logging in today mean I have to waste $60 charged to my credit card on the 20th?
  13. If there is no damage meter? Then how do we know who to kick out of a raid after a wipe? Is it really fair that a raid group has to carry a dps just tagging along on auto-follow?
  14. They got to October 1. I'm October 2nd and did not get in.
  15. Why not? Once players burn through all the cut scenes, what else are they going to do in the game?
  16. According to Sony Online Entertainment press releases, EQ peaked at 440,000 paying subscribers. WoW peaked at 12 MILLION! So yeah. I'm pretty sure it was WoW that established the lucrative MMO market. Blizzard just did/does everything better than the competition--including SWTOR.
  17. WoW is an innovator in the sense that it elevated MMOs into the mainstream by making an MMO that was fun and gave players a sense of reward. Before WoW, MMOs were only being played by a small, niche, subculture of tabletop D&D playing computer nerds. Before WoW, MMOs were considered successful if they could reach 100,000 users. Then in came WoW with their 12 MILLION strong userbase. WoW set the bar high...really high. Even the most conservative estimates say that SWTOR will be lucky to peak at 3 million users. Honestly, SWTOR cannot even touch WoW in terms of playbility and FUN. If you think that SWTOR will get even near to beating WoW's 12 million user record, you're delusional. If WoW sucks so bad, how can you explain 12 million users who pay $15 a month, month after month, year after year? Seriously, explain that.
  18. Let me get this straight: All the nerds raging on the forums who have been waiting years to play this game are so upset, and their mental statuses so altered because they were not allowed to get in earlier than when the early game access starts tomorrow ... ... are going to cancel their orders so that they will NEVER get in? Makes great sense.
  19. This is what it says on my account. Does this mean the EGA queue is going by the 11/2 date? Or the 10/2 date? -- Below is a list of valid Star Wars: The Old Republic codes that have been redeemed under this account. 11.02.2011 Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ Early Game Access: Ready to patch 10.02.2011 Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ Digital Standard Edition Pre-Order
  20. I've read a few posts today, and in a few of them I've seen European people write a date like August 30 as 30/8. Does anyone know why they write it wrong like that? It just trips me out. I mean, how hard can it be to write it correctly as 8/30?
  21. To OP: They didn't say that "everyone would get at least 5 days to play in early access"; They said that "everyone would get up to 5 days to play in early access. Huge difference.
  22. Today is 7 days early, not 5. So you're not guaranteed anything today.
