The whole thing was an interesting twist of logic. A bit of social engineering. There was a time when "hardcore PVPers" fought for hours on other games for the sake of fighting. (SWG for example. Though there were many others.) Then Blizzard got the cute idea that they should add the same "carrot on a stick" that they use in PVE content to PVP. What happened next was somehow the people who could then suddenly "win" at PVP because they had a gear advantage over other people managed to inject the idea that part of being a "good player" was grinding to get better gear. This immediatly swung the social "elite" status in favor of no talent hacks who have nothing better to do then sit in mom's basement grinding away. Gear started to remind me of the snobby kids in high school who felt their 100 dollar shoes made them superior human beings.
  2. Your "progression" should be getting better at playing your class. The moment you are winning because of a gear advantage you are not in any way being "competitive".
  3. I guess you thought PVP was having better gear then everyone and winning in "easy mode" huh?
  4. Gear aquisition has never been about skill. It's been about sinking time.
  5. lol I can already see teams of 4 sage/sorcerers.
  6. As long as it does not become the only way to get the best gear, I don't mind.
  7. In the earlier part of the conversation they said it would be. Then they started talking about stats.
  8. The funny thing is that most of these people who get these huge numbers always seem to be playing on teams that lost. In order to get these numbers you generally have to take advantage of certain things that inevitably do not involve actually holding or protecting objectives. It's always hilarious to me when these kinds of idiots start griefing everyone on their team for being bad players, talking trash to people who have 10 times the objective points that they do. In other words, it's great that you ignored the objectives and went out of your way to hit more people or heal more people, but if you don't do that in a way that causes your team to win, you are still a loser.
  9. Yes it did. Any faction. Any guild. You were PVP enabled with them until the guild masters shut it off. And it was a BLAST.
  10. I will absolutely love it if it gives rewards for killing people of similar level. I love World PVP and did it all the way to 50, but they have to be sure it does not become so predatory that people can't level anymore. If there is any gear incentive to farming lowbies that will get out of hand fast.
  11. All I am worried about is I don't want to see it become the new "Arena Gear". As they are saying the absolute best gear will come from these ranked WZs. I think they should stick to vanity enhancements, which they also said they are doing so I am a little confused as to what the final end game of that is. Because if the only way to get the best gear is being lucky enough to have a good team to PVP with then we run back into the problem Arena caused in WoW. Those people in turn just go and squish people in WZs who cannot find partners.
  12. Sounds like a great way to incentivize world PVP. I just hope it does not give rewards for griefing really low level players.
  13. Honestly, I wish they would do this with all the commendations like they used to do in the Beta.
  14. My favorite thing about posts like these is the people who pretend that only people who have never played Sorceror/Sage make them. Well said.
  15. The only thing that could make Hutt Ball fun is if they would let us kill that damn announcer at the end.
  16. I play the game for hours actually. And have been since the start of the beta. And when you take the PVP gear out of the equation, or just fight someone who has the exact same gear, what do you think wins those fights?
  17. Wrong. Putting "time in" to get gear and win due to game code is laziness. Putting "time in" to learn your class and develop solid strategies and reflexes is earning your wins.
  18. I thought all hutball matches were punishment.
  19. If I wanted random loot drops, I would be PVEing.

    Is SWTOR dying?

I remember very clearly before release, telling the angry mob population who DEMANDED that the game be released right away unfinished that we should wait. As I was a BETA tester and I knew it was not quite ready. I wonder where those people are now? As they of course promised that they would play it even if it had bugs. I am not going anywhere. But hey, I am an SWG player, I am used to playing MMOs with problems.
  21. I think Maul was Tank specced. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon were vigilance. Which is why it took them forever to kill him.
