Harsh death penalty system compared to WoW
Chris_G replied to Blacktailstalker's topic in General Discussion
What death penalty? Seriously there is no death penalty in this game. You rez yourself in exactly the same spot and keep going. Death penalties are when you lose xp, are debuffed for a significant amount of time, or have to do a corpse run to get all your gear and xp back. -
1.1: Rise of the Rakghouls. Thanks, but no thanks..
Chris_G replied to swdrgn's topic in General Discussion
/facepalm Different teams can work in parallel you know. -
They are deliberately trying to make the game very casual friendly because that's how they will make the most money. It's the right decision, imo. Eve is an interesting example: yes it has won lots of awards and has a dedicated hardcore community, but that community is quite tiny and doesn't generate much revenue. CCP is currently laying off staff because it can't keep enough subscribers. I'm sure EA thinks of Eve as a good example of what not to do, and for good reason.

Suggestion: UI Color Schemes based on Alignment
Chris_G replied to DeusEck's topic in General Discussion
My suggestion would be to just allow players the option to customize the UI any way they want, including the colour scheme. -
panteer castle datacron. . .large frame characters screwed over
Chris_G replied to Drahh's topic in General Discussion
This is just stupid. Give large characters a way to get through to the datacron, bioware. -
Its really not hard to heal in this game. I don't need macros or mouseovers to heal well. My only complaint is that I do think the UI needs some bug fixing, improved targeting options and just general polishing.

Thank You Bioware and Electronic Arts. I love This Game!
Chris_G replied to Gilbara's topic in General Discussion
Agreed, most fun I've had in an mmorpg in years. -
I'm convinced a lot of the problems people are having (old computers aside) is to do with the video drivers. Hopefully ATI and NVIDIA will get their act together soon and release new drivers that run this game properly.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but no one really cares. Best of luck finding a game you like.

I've been considering similar specs myself. Not sure how well they are going to work out in practice, the trees seem designed to punish hybridization fairly hard, but I'd like to try them out and see how they do. Anyway, here are my variations for you to consider. Group: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#800bfRoRzfdzZMIkbRb.1 Basically I don't think first responder, weapon calibrations or treated wound dressings are anything special. Instead you get the +5% heal buff on kolto bomb (you did say this was a group spec after all), Med Zone so you can pop reactive shield and heal through damage much more easily in an emergency, as well as grav round to boost dps and tenacious defence to reduce the cooldown on your cc-break and aoe knockback abilities. The main downside of this variation in my opinion is you lose psych aid, but there just aren't enough points to do everything. Solo: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#800rfMR0zfbzZ0cZbIMrz.1 Only change is to swap treated wounds for Med Zone. Treated wounds is useless for this build, it only works when CSC is active, and you are going to be running plasma cell. Med zone gives you the option to pop reactive shield in an emergency and then AMP and MP with a +20% healing bonus. Throw some CC into the mix if you are having trouble getting your heals off due to push back or interrupts.

There are other skills coming that require the assault cannon, they are all damage skills i believe. You can probably get away with sticking with rifle if the only thing you want to do is healbot, but as soon as you start adding some of out damage abilities to the mix (and there will be plenty of situations where you need to do damage) you will really be fighting with one hand tied behind your back in my opinion.

What does everyone think about the future of SWTOR?
Chris_G replied to Yodamadashi's topic in General Discussion
I think this game has a bright future in front of it. I haven't had this much fun in an mmorpg in years. -
BIOWARE: The very first update to live and you...
Chris_G replied to Anzel's topic in General Discussion
More like lazy players I think... Boo hoo hoo, now you may have to farm some mobs for money, so so sad. -
Its a business. "Fairness" only matters when its profitable

Reroll republic if you are sick of huttball. We get the other two maps popping for us all the time. -
Game comments upon cancelling subscription
Chris_G replied to OfficeLineback's topic in General Discussion
Sounds like this game isn't for you. You may want to give Minecraft a try, it sounds like it fits all the criteria you listed for what you are looking for. -
Bioware, please listen to the vast majority of casuals and carebears who make up your player base and will make you rich rich rich with their subscription money if you cater to their needs. Please don't listen to the hardcore 1% who selfishly want to ruin this wonderful game for everyone else. Let them go in fact, especially the annoying and obnoxious high priests of negativity that plague your forums so badly.

NO ONE will care about the voice acting in one more month.
Chris_G replied to Gunfox's topic in General Discussion
I completely disagree with the OP, the VOs are the best part of the game, and the part I know is going to be keeping me interested enough to keep playing many months for now. -
All the people saying the game is awful because of very minor issues and launched too soon are totally full of it in my opinion. Let's be honest with each other, Bioware could have spent another 5 years in development and there would still be people coming out of the woodwork to complain about this and that and to make doomsday claims about how the game will be free to play within a month (but of course, Bioware would have been bankrupt long before another 5 years of development went by). Some people will just never be happy because no game can possibly live up to their unrealistic expectations of "THE PERFECT GAME" which does not, will not, cannot ever exist. These people move like locusts from game to game, trying to drag as many other people as they can down into their vortex of negativity before they move on. Already these people are pinning their hopes on GW2 as the great messiah of gaming they have been looking for, when in fact they are almost certain to be disappointed with it and to ***** about it incessantly, just like every other game they play. I have no problem with people making posts about things they don't like and want to see improved, but the constant melodrama and hyperbole about how the sky is falling is really grating on my nerves. tl;dr version: there is no such thing as a perfect game and some people need to grow up.
-
Reroll as republic then if you don't want to play huttball so much. Sith get stuck playing hutball because it is the only map that allows empire vs empire matches, and with the population imbalance you folks end up playing each other, a lot. Another perk of rolling republic is I have never had to wait longer than about a minute for a warzone to pop and its easy to find sith to kill in open world pvp.
-
I'm signing on for at least 3 months. I'm having a ton of fun playing this game so far.
-
Hey OP, maybe if you stomp your feet some more and throw an even bigger temper tantrum you'll get your way. Calling a game that just had one of best launches in mmo history (in term of stability, performance, and relative lack of bugs) broken because of such a trival list of minor gripes is beyond ridiculous. By all means point out the things you think need to changed, fixed or improved, but when you do it with the tone and arrogance of a spoilt child don't act surprised when others treat you as if you are one.
-
Maybe you should reroll as republic then? I kill plenty of sith during my travels, playing republic will provide you with a much more target rich environment.

Commando: post your skill builds & discussion
Chris_G replied to entropyboy's topic in Commando / Mercenary
Not the first one. The price will go up if you keep doing it frequently. It is probably best to focus on one tree early one, but there can be reasons to dip into another for a key early bonus, for example +9% to aim is pretty sweet in gunnery, or +6% crit chance in combat medic. Just realize that if you do that you are delaying what level you get key abilities in your primary tree.
