  1. This. The fact that they (Bioware et al) has decided this is THE REASON for why SWTOR has seen a significant decline in subs is just proof that they are continuing to perpetuate this falsehood. The product itself turned out to be lackluster and this is the reason subs have declined. There are plenty of MMOs that still utilize the subscription model and people still happily pay for it because the product is worth it. It's just sad to see Bioware continue to find new ways to deceive themselves in order to explain away these "problems". If the Executive Producer and the rest of Bioware/EA believe that eliminating the sub and implementing contrived restrictions on access to the product will bring home the bacon, they're in for a rude awakening. Sure there will be plenty of returners when F2P finally launches, but after being smacked in the face with the corralling restrictions which have been blatantly designed to make subbing a need instead of disguising it as a choice, they're going to barely last a week before going back to WoW, TSW, GW2, Rift, or EVE. bleh. Anyway. You (Bioware/EA) get one shot at first impressions. This "State of the Game" is already off to a sloppy start.
  2. Also valid. It might even be that the game could have been better received by the community if it was released a year or two ago. Now, a huge chunk of the MMO player base is just burnt or burning out on WoW (among others) and because there tends to be a little too much similarity between WoW and TOR, it ends up not being the game everyone was expecting or hoping for. So yes. They either took too much time making it, or they released it too early. Blizzard benefited from the "right-time, right-place" situation with regard to WoW. Bioware doesn't have that luxury this time. Anyway. Cheers!
  3. Just finished reading your post, OP. One of the few constructive posts so far. Definitely agree that the potential is there for a good mmo, but it hasn't been realized yet. Sad that it feels the game was pressured to launch too early just to capture the christmas cash.
  4. Something similar to this is being discussed in the suggestions forum. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=317723
  5. ....Not making the drunken mistake in the first place You goofed and are now raging at CS to fix your mistake. And calling them out like this isn't exactly helping your case. This thread is going places
  6. Yikes buddy....calm yourself And no issues here. Cooldown settings are exactly how I set them after I logged (yes, full log and exit of game). Try a repair or something if it keeps happening. ps. love the new options for the cooldowns and love the timers!
  7. To be fair, not many MMOs are fully voiced (or even partially), but yes, there is an overall top-notch quality to the voice acting in this game. I've also ran into my fair share of "phoned-in" lines that gave me a genuine chuckle. My issues with the game aside, the VO is well done. Other stuff....needs some work, but that's a topic for another thread FYI. You may want to put on your flamesuit as this thread will most likely attract some....errr...interesting comments/retorts/remarks.
  8. Just a little update: I put in a ticket detailing my issue (missing A-300) and after 1.5 weeks, I finally got a reply from CS that said they mailed me my missing item. They also warned that this counts as one of three allowable reinstated items per 6 months. Just an FYI for those who are experiencing this issue. I'm finally the proud owner of a Firefly-esque six-shooter
  9. That's a whole lot of pretty paint and rainbows for a keyboard....a keyboard.
  10. Save your money. Yes, you get the wristband, but it's not worth it in any way. The digital items are silly. The wristband is worthless as the VIP lounge is just another bar with a CE vendor and a VIP vendor. The VIP vendor has one speeder for 1.5 million creds and the CE vendor is only accessible with a CE version of the game. Other than that, it's a waste of an elevator ride up there. The only thing that is worth anything really is the speeder you get from the upgrade. However, it's only good until level 40 and it only saves you 8k creds. You still need to buy the speeder riding skill at lvl 25 for 40k. The other items are silly flair items with no practical use. The training droid only lasts for 30 seconds, the flare gun....fires a flare. The holo dancer spawns a...holo dancer...that dances. The camera thing just takes a .... screenshot....from first person point of view without the ui. Unless you've got $20 burning a hole in your pocket, put it towards the monthly sub or some food....or some drinks. Or another game
  11. Ha! I think I was in a google hangout with a few people while doing the silly planet-hopping. I made some sarcastic grumping about it, but when I got to that last part in the fleet, I remember letting out a loud "***!" PS. I enjoy the game, but a lot of wrinkles need ironing. Cheers!
  12. Not sure actually, but we can definitely flag this thread for movement. Hopefully we can keep it constructive Cheers!
