  1. Wow, I can't believe it's been a whole year since I posted in this thread, and it began 6 months before that, and the issue still isn't fixed. People say you can grind it using Diplomacy easy, but that is not really acceptable, especially to those who did not have diplomacy maxxed out to begin with. As if the developers can't simply create a bound token worth "x" amount of light side points to give to those who are affected until the problem is addressed. This is a huge problem if your gear is light side dependant (like my saber was at the time) since I had to pull all my mods and reaugment some other random saber until I could get back to Light V.
  2. Like I mentioned above, I definitely did not have the bonus mission "The dread guard" in my mission list, nor had I completed it. I had done the "Destroy weapons cache" + "Bonus: Escaped Prisoners", "Terraforming Machines", and "[AREA] : Key to Decryption" + Bonus "Destroy Haywire Droids". I had not made my way over to the prisons area, and logged out immediately following killing the final Champion Droid in "Key to Decryption". So it must have many triggers or one big general trigger that underlies the whole thing that is just too buried in code to easily identify.
  3. FYI I had not received that mission when it happened to me. I had just finished the 'Key to Decryption' quest and I do them all in a specific order. I hadn't made my way over to that area with the two underground dailies.
  4. Yes I particularly think it's funny how you kill 50 no-name henchmen to get to a boss and then at the very end it is considered a dark side option to kill them and light side to arrest them. What about all the poor no-name? Lol. At the end of the day, it's just a game. And in order to have fun you have to kill lots of stuff.
  5. It happened to me yesterday. I had just killed the final Champion droid in "Key to Decryption [Area]" quest and logged out to do some other stuff for about 15 minutes (I had the CXP boost running and didn't want to waste it). When I came back in and logged on POOF, my light side attunement was gone. Can't use my saber. Now I am suppose to grind out 100,000 light side points.
  6. Ah so you are going to fix it. I agree that the 1200CP was too much, along with the CXP event and the CXP booster you can get on the fleet I was netting nearly 3500CXP per daily. But really, 75 CXP? That is simply too little. I hope you reconsider that amount and at least double it up to around 200 CXP.
  7. Oh, man I hope they don't bring those back down ~80 again. I just had the bug where I lost all my light side points so I can't use my cool new sounding lightsaber anymore. If they nerf the new daily amount I think I may just stop playing altogether.
  8. I agree. According to the other thread I found this has been know since February.
  9. Yah this just happened to me today. Now I can't use my lightsaber and will have to find a different one to use. Extremely frustrating Bioware!!
  10. Well it wasn't known to me, lol. Can I get it back or what?
  11. So I was running some dailies in Section X today and logged out for a short while in order to save my 100% CP bonus buff. When I logged back in I noticed a flashing red armor icon above my character portrait informing me that I can no longer use my Lightsaber because it requires Light 3 or above. Then I checked my character to see that she is at neutral alignment! This character is always at 10,000 light side and literally finished killing a mob just before logging out with the Lightsaber equipped. What happened to all my alignment? Has anyone else had this happen to them?
  12. The train part sure has terrible FPS. I mean for a single player experience, with graphics that are pretty old, and never that advanced to begin with, you'd think the game would run like a dream on modern hardware. But I guess that's old news at this point. I hate to think what the 4-player version runs like though.
  13. For what it's worth, according to xfire, you will note that GW2 has been stable peaks and valleys (at about 2x the hours logged as SWTOR) for the last 2 months. At this point in SWTOR's lifecycle (4 months after launch) SWTOR was losing about 50 000-100,000 subs/month on average. The big difference, of course, is that SWTOR was relying on those subs for revenue, whereas the B2P GW2 does not. So as to the original op question, GW2 seems to have more active players, and seems to be mostly stable. SWTOR seems to have fewer players but also seems mostly stable.
  14. Thanks for the suggestion but you can not increase the size of the buff meter without also increasing the size of the player portrait/health/power bars which I already find to be quite huge. Let me work this from another angle, since we seem to be going nowhere. What problem would you have with other people having the ability to toggle "enable combat response effects" in the option menus? This is the option that exists in other mmo's where you have these kinds of short lived buffs. In my opinion, everyone wins with the option available. Do you guys really have a problem with giving other people who would prefer to watch the action for their cues (rather than buff icons) the option to do so? Visual effects are a much more natural way of playing. IMO of course.
  15. Your sarcasm meter is off as he was clearly being sarcastic (ie. a jerk). Also 4 buffs? Let's see as an Infiltrator Shadow I can easily have at one time: 1. Sprint 2. Shadow Technique 3. Stimulant Buff 4. Force Might (legacy from knight) 5. Force Valour 6. Lucky shots (legacy from smuggler) 7. Fortification (from trooper legacy) 8. Circling Shadows 9. Kinetic Field buff 10. Exit Strategy and additionally in many situations: 11. Blackout 12. Deflection 13. Resilience 14. Shadows Respite So I don't know how you play your shadow, but I can easily have 10 little buff icons (or up to 14) to look through to find one little buff icon that lasts for only a few seconds itself. I'm not sure why some people don't want to improve on the class they play, or offer the option for some people who have a hard time finding the buff icon in the mess of buff icons. My best guess is it makes them feel smarter or better or like a better player since they don't have any issue with it. Important buff effects / UI customization are industry standard. Every other mmo does it because it is better. Because it offers more ways to play. Some of you seem to want fewer ways to play. That kind of attitude epitomizes the SWTOR experience and is a strong deciding factor in why so many people have left the game. In fact, that could be the SWTOR tag line, "SWTOR, everything you love about mmo's, but with less!" (except for voice overs / cut scenes).
  16. Unfortunately no. And according to some people here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=558576 you are an idiot to even consider it being added, lol. It's been wanted for a while. Either allow us to detach the buffbar from our portraits and customize it's placement a bit better, or an effect we can see on our character or something.
  17. You have to be in fullscreen exclusive mode to use v-sync, are you?
  18. Not sure why you think good story telling is mutually exclusive with more open world exploration. You may enjoy going through the game with a pair of blinders on, oblivious to the world all around you if it is not part of your "objective", but others like me (and there are many, many of us) prefer a chance to go off the beaten path once in a while. In this game I have found my attempts at exploration ending in exhaustion zones, or a dozen imperial/republic champions barring me from the places I'd like to go. No extra quests. No cool views or easter eggs other than datacrons, which are ok (at least the ones with little to no jumping, the jumping in this game ain't very responsive).
  19. Grayseven, gameplay isn't everything. This is an online persistent world and as such they should try to make it as realistic as possible. Sacrifices are made for the sake of fun and playability like a shortening of the day/night cycle you see in all other mmo's. How is day and night not a part of the Star Wars universe? Does not Obi Wan say that Sand People come out at night? Is the iconic vision of the youthful dreamer Luke Skywalker not him staring off into the beautiful sunset of the twin suns on Tattoine? Do they not close the doors on Hoth at night to avoid the freezing temperatures, leaving Luke stranded? Come on man. It's as basic as trees. Would you be cool with Bioware taking a no tree stance, since, after all, trees are not an explicit Star Wars thing? None of these memorable moments are reflected in the Universe Bioware has created due to their ridiculous exclusion of day/night. Better gameplay? I agree. Fix bugs? Absolutely. But you will never fix all the bugs. This is an mmo after all, if we wait to get anything new or interesting on the premise od fix all the bugs first, you will never have anything new or interesting.
  20. Unless they add some really different (read: not just humans with a different painted face/head, I'm looking at you Cathar!) species I say why bother with any new ones. So I put my vote in with any new species that would require more variability to the character creation screen. Most other mmo's have a super short/super tall type species and I would like for SWTOR to show some initiative and add some variety. Yes it will take time to size and stretch all the armour in the game, but come on, everyone else does it you can too.
  21. Yes, you glow a rather bright blue initially, and the JK's eyes glow blue for the duration of the buff.
  22. Why is there always someone who has to belittle people who would like to have different options from them. Other games have "enable combat response effects" and such. Why can't those players who want to have an effect visible on their character have that option? Because you wouldn't use it? You should be championing your fellow players desires for more game options if it does not negatively affect your own gameplay, not coming up with such unhelpful suggestions as "spend a little less time looking for shiny stuff on your toon". And although having a huge player portrait area with massive icons smack in the middle of their screen may work for some, I don't like having the view of the action obscured in such a way.
  23. Just tested this out and, yah, it's nearly imperceptible. We could really use a "riposte" kind of effect like on the JK. People have been asking for this since beta. Unbelievably (or perhaps not too unbelievably) it hasn't happened. I was expecting it with the UI update back in 1.2 but alas no. So I continue to stare at my effects bar every 9 seconds until I see the proc.
  24. I don't PvP but isn't it all about getting gear with Expertise on it to stand a chance? If you don't have at least the Recruit gear sold on the fleet, you are at a huge disadvantage as others will nail you with +20% extra damage and take 20% less damage from you. (figures made up since I don't really know the actuall amounts.)
