  1. Howdy! I've been playing since launch but have not had good luck with finding a guild that didn't fall apart. Most of my characters here are ~level 20 or so, and I"m looking for a guild. Any stable guilds for casual players (I'm on probably less than 10 hours/week), geared towards older, married members? I generally run healers or dps. Main thing is, I'd like a regular group of folks for flashpoints and maybe even operations. So, who's recruiting?
  2. If I transfer a character to another server, will the decorations that were unlocked in the previous server/legacy be unlocked in the destination server?
  3. I got dc'ed from Jung Ma and can't log in at all now.
  4. It's a gaming marathon to raise money for Children's Miracle Network hospitals. Gamers select a hospital they're playing for and game for 24 hours, while raising money from supporters. I've heard of some guilds and podcasts taking part (the Bad Feeling Podcast and at least one of the Ootinicast guys are doing it). Here's the main Extra Life website: http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?
  5. So, who else is doing Extra Life for Children's Miracle Network to level up a character or two today?
  6. I have no idea how feasible this is, so I apologize if I'm suggesting something wildly unworkable. Would it be possible to add cosmetic gear enhancements that crafters could make? For example, synthweavers could craft a hood and/or cape to add to existing armor. Armstechs could craft a holo-sight and/or targeting laser that you can add to existing ranged weapons. Armormechs could add or remove shoulder pads/backpacks from existing armor. Cybertechs could add animated color panels to existing armor. It doesn't appear that most crafters will be making must-have, endgame gear anytime soon, so this could be a way for some of them to increase the demand for their services beyond the augments. Just a thought ...
  7. I've started on a new server and am getting my main's companions' affection up. To speed it up, I'm using rank 1 and 2 gifts to get them up to 6k or so, and then using the higher ranked gifts I've gotten from Underworld Trading. My question is, at what point should I start doing the companion quests? I know from previous characters they're a sizable chunk of affection, but I'm not sure whether to use them at 6k or so or wait until I'm at 8 or 9k. Any suggestions?
  8. Way back in the day, there was a tabletop RPG by West End Games that had some pretty good source material. There was a guidebook to the planet Socorro by Patricia Jackson that went into detail of the Black Bha'lir, a Corellian smuggling guild that had a well-defined code of honor. The ranks in the Bha'lir were: Apprentice: This was the lowest rank a member could hold within the society, and where all members started out. Becoming an Apprentice was not easy, however. Most Apprentices were brought into the society by relatives, but others were approached by the Black Bha'lir because they had already demonstrated the honor the society expected of its members. Forbidden by the society to own a ship of their own, Apprentices were usually expected to work under the tutelage of another member until they were promoted. In many cases, the Apprentice was made first-mate on a ship with a Bha'lir captain. There they learned the morality and responsibility expected of all members, as well as tricks of the trade. Pilot: The rank of pilot was awarded to Apprentices that stood out from among their fellow members. Many members of the Black Bha'lir never made it beyond the rank of Apprentice not because they lacked the skill of a smuggler, but because they were found lacking in their understanding of the code. Although they were not prevented from owning their own ships, Pilots often worked under a Master Smuggler and were assigned to one of the Master Smuggler's ships. Those who remained Pilots were often very skilled smugglers, but poor businessmen. Prince: The rank of prince was a rare honor awarded to Pilots who had earned a reasonable degree of fame in the underworld. Princes almost always owned their own ship, and their skills as a smuggler were rarely matched by any Pilot. Both male and female members of this rank were called Princes. Master Smuggler: Master Smugglers were most often minor crime lords or information brokers. They had proven themselves as Pilot or Prince and earned a less risky, but often more demanding life. The Master Smuggler usually owned more than one ship and kept several Pilots on their payroll. Mentor: While all members of the society taught and learned from one another, members of great wisdom and skill were promoted to the rank of Mentor by the Tribunal. Mentors were tasked with teaching new generations of members the skills of the smuggler, and guiding them in their understanding of the code. Old Guard: Only the most venerated members were promoted to the rank of Old Guard. Old Guards were most often Mentors who continued to serve as Master Smugglers or even Pilots. Once a member had obtained the rank of Old Guard, they were eligible to be on the Tribunal. The Tribunal: The Tribunal was the ruling body of the Black Bha'lir. They were responsible for settling disputes within the society as well as preserving the ethical code that was central to the Black Bha'lir way of life. The tribunal consisted of three members who were elected by a silent ballot open to all members of the society, but the identity of those who are elected remained a fiercely guarded secret among the highest ranking members of the society. Once elected, a member would serve on the Tribunal for life. I'd use those definitions as a start - some of them might not work well in a guild setting, but some of them fit very nicely in traditional guild hierarchies. I'd probably drop Prince, and have probationary members as Apprentices, members at large as Pilots, officers as Mentors or Master Smugglers, and Guild Masters as The Tribunal. I'd probably have former officers/guildmasters as the Old Guard. For more on the Black Bha'lir, check out Wookieepedia's write up: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Black_Bha%27lir
  9. I'm seeing a bright blue vertical line on my characters when they move. The line is much more pronounced when I activate certain abilities, such as reverse engineering or activating a mount. I see the same effect on most other player characters, whether on fleet or on a planet. Anyone else seeing this?
  10. My apologies if this has already been asked ... What will happen if I try to transfer a character from one server to a server where I already have 12 characters? Will the transfer go through, will I have to buy another character slot, will a character become inactive, etc?
  11. I was also there, great event! From what I recall, Damion also said that after the response to the Cathar, they have already started looking for other races people want to see. I also remember his saying that the dye packs appear to have been a huge success financially, which essentially translates to more content down the road.
  12. I got two codes from the local Best Buy today. The coins and pet came through just fine. I even had them email one of the codes to a friend for May 4th. No problems. The Best Buy issue seems to be fixed.
  13. I'm leveling a cyborg Sith warrior and would like his appearance to become more cyborg-like as I level him. What helmets are out there that look like a cybernetic implant? I've seen the Darth Malak jaw and the Darth Malgus respirator ... what are some other helmets along those lines?
  14. I read on the FAQ that Cartel Coin cards will be available for purchase from Best Buy or Gamestop, but I don't see them listed on either store's website. Does anyone know when they'll be available, or if there's another way you can buy Cartel Coins for someone else?
  15. I generally try to get my characters on each server to be able to provide everything each of them will need. So, I'll usually try to have 1 of each of the production skills, 1 of each of the mission skills and the gathering skills as needed. My question is do I need more than one of each gathering type, or would it be better to have one of each type and multiple slicers? For example, would it be better to have: Sith Warrior: synthweaving/archaeology/underworld trading Sith Inquisitor: artifice/archaeology/treasure hunting or Sith Warrior: synthweaving/archaeology/underworld trading Sith Inquisitor: artifice/slicing/treasure hunting
  16. I really like the idea. I have no idea how feasible the technical details would be, but I've already sketched out the connections between my characters. It would be great for my smuggler to give his younger brother the jedi a hand on occasion.
  17. While I'd love to have more information, I can completely understand why they're not saying more. If they state that they're working to implement Option X for the system and believe that it might be available in February, depending on some technical issues, people will read "We are totally going to have Option X polished, bug-free and ready for a 12:00 AM launch on February 1."
  18. That's the only real complaint I've had about SWTOR. The name I wanted to use for my Legacy surname got snagged, and I picked the name for my main and several alts around how they'd sound with that particular name. Still kind of bummed about it. Love the game otherwise, though.
  19. The article said that: The part I've emphasized indicates that those characters will be friends or acquaintences of your main character and thus part of his or her legacy. While I'd like to have more flexibility with last names (especially since my preferred surname was already taken by the time I got to unlock the legacy), I can live with characters who don't work as blood family simply being part of the legacy.
  20. So last night, I unlocked the Legacy with my Smuggler. I was excited, as I'd planned out the names of both the Smuggler and all of my alts on that server to go with a certain surname. I went to the Legacy screen, entered the surname ... and was told that someone else had already taken the name and to pick another. I found a workable substitute, but it was a let down. I can live with the name I chose, but it doesn't have the resonance that the original did (which was from an old WEG d6 campaign, so older than a lot of people playing the game). As soon as I heard about the Legacy system, I knew the surname I wanted. I'm kind of bummed that it was a no-go. Annoyingly, I can't think of a way to have prevented it, other than to let people pick the name when they're creating their character. That goes against the whole premise of unlocking the legacy. This isn't a deal breaker by any stretch ... that this is the only complaint I've had so far speaks volumes how much I like this game. It's not a design flaw, a bug or anything else I'd blame the designers or anyone at Bioware for. I'm just annoyed. Oh well ... at least the Legacy is unlocked, and my army of now-surnamed alts can generate legacy xp as they level.
  21. If it's a different store, I hope the CE gives you access to it, since the CE comes with an Authenticator.
