  1. 18 years, senior programmer on a corporate level and you don't have a phone that support a security code ap and can't spell ridiculous. at least i can blame my poor grammar and spelling on my ipad because my stubby fingers and touch keyboards don't mix well and being a little lazy.
  2. here http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=371775 and http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=368964 a lot of feedback and opposition to this change. BW stated they were pleasantly surprised at the amount of pvpers in their game....so why are you changing our only appealing financial incentive? 3 threads no yellow name, would love to see some feedback on this from the Dev team on this one.
  3. I'm curious if you played WoW at launch? I recently read someone posting about how great AoC's launch was and I almost spit my coffee out. Gamers have a short memory....
  4. One of the things I think a lot of people seem to overlook is what all needs to be rendered in a game like Eve. When it comes down to it, Eve is a giant skybox with a few objects in it. Basically all that needs to be rendered is the background, plants/stations and ships with FoV. A ground pounder game like TOR you have to render the skybox, the mesh for the terrian, textures for the terrian and buidlings and players and NPCs etc etc. Eve wasn't as much ahead of its time as it was able to create something very large without using a lot of resources both client and server side.
  5. Welcome to 2012. Every company that you register with/buy from/visit their website does the same thing. It's called marketing metrics/analytic's/demographic research. Businesses that have the resources to do so are vigilant in finding out what their customers are doing so they can tailor their message and product offering to them. So essentially yes they are stalking you.
  6. personally i dont care if the implement arena type content, as long as they dont have rating restricted gear. Arena it should be another component of pvp, not the end-all, and only way to get the best pvp gear.
  7. thanks op, appreciate the post. love the game and looking forward to the future
  8. I wouldn't give us a new ability..but rather remove the root from the jimmy kick animation...that in itself has more value than adding more tools to the toolbox imo. OR Give us an ability that lets us kick while we're moving?
  9. derptastic with awesomesauce answers in bold
  10. whats funny is that (just about) every company operates like that. Strategic product launches to maximize initial sales revenue is not...bad. Once this guy figures that out he's never going to buy another thing as long as he lives. you know because clothing companies aggressively market and launch their new line of swimwear to the upper half of North America in November....
  11. I certainly agree with you there, it is good first step and one that a lot of companies aren't willing to or do not have the resources to take. Not using the feedback received from this type of event is plain and simple bad business practice so on that note we'll just have to wait and see what comes of it. but hey the day is still young, we have an afternoons worth of summit live streams to watch while we neglect work
  12. I think that, in contrast to other game developers BW is doing a pretty good job with communication, with patching, with announcements, with PR. Believe me I would love to see a patch every 5 days, but the same argument can be made for that aggressive patching as an early release for content. I've lived through that kind of patching in other games (AoC and invisible players anyone?) and it really doesn't turn out well, QA takes a back seat in an effort to say "Hey guys look we are fixing it" and xyz company simply breaks more then they fixed. I cant disagree with you not liking the game as it is, I also cant disagree with people leaving not coming back. This is an industry with a demographic that has an extremely short attention span, it terribly fickle and unforgiving to no end. Hell knows no furry like a gamer scorned. One thing that people really need to understand is the value in the Guild Summit, in JUST HAVING IT says volumes about the company, their customer responsiveness, their commitment to the game and their willingness to work with the player base. I am a marketer, I have put on these types of events for customers in my industry. It costs a ton of money, it's a pain in the *** to coordinate, and 9 times out of 10 you get the **** kicked out of you by your customers, but from a PR/marketing standpoint its worth every penny and bruise and it tells your customer that you are willing to take a beating and spend the money to make sure they are happy.
  13. please explain, my forum-fu must be getting rusty. being critical of someones opinion is hardly passive aggressive, the terms gets thrown around far too much. please, quote the wiki for me, it would make my day
  14. passive aggressive? hardly, try not using big words and making assumptions. I was simply surprised that the guy was complaining about it being 12 days since the last patch, like BW has a massive sweat shop full of coders working diligently fix everything. this stuff takes times, bug fixes, patching, updates, content. Anyone that has been playing these games (and I mean outside of WoW) for any amount of time has an idea of how long these things take. the ***** doesn't happen overnight Besides I'm not one of those "OH GOD I HATE {insert company} BECAUSE THEY ARE TERRIBLE AND I'LL NEVER BUY THEIR PRODUCTS AGAIN BECAUSE I'M GOING TO SEND THEM A MESSAGE" $15 a month isn't a big deal, that's a 12 pack of semi decent beer. get over yourself. its just a game. life will go on.
  15. so your first MMO not going so well eh? They haven't patched in 12 days and your quitting? Play ME3 for a few weeks and take a breather, its not that bad man, you will survive. Take up chess or go read a book, you'll be ok.
  16. interesting stuff and a ton of work to get there, Thanks OP for taking a look at this
  17. boys play space marines and eldar men play chaos just wanted to put that out there Hopefully we will get a lot more aesthetic options with 1.2. While I'm not looking to go the ranger route I would love to be able to get a smuggler fedora for both of my agents.
  18. despite my better judgement I took Armortech on my level 11 pvp sniper for two reason: 1) post 1.2 there will hopefully be a market for crafted armor 2) I can just craft the armor I need so I don't have to quest, plus at 11 I have two pieces of purple gear, one blue and I have critted purple armor waiting for me up to 20 when i can get my pvp set. 2a) I have an op with 300ish Bio so I can craft whatever stims I need there As far as weapons go, I would find yourself a armstech, or just buy from the GTN...or you could roll an alt to 10 quick and pick up armstech and just progress the crafting as you progress your sniper. I have to admit, and i don't know if this is a matter of just not caring as much on my sniper as i do on my main (33 Op) but sniper is way more fun to pvp with....but I really need to finish leveling at LEAST one toon and stop changing my mind heh.
  19. ....you know, the hat, the fedora that my avatar is wearing, that the smuggler had in one of the trailer videos. Both of my agents need this hat , it is necessary. I took a look in the darth hater db but didn't see it under medium head armor (then again after looking at 500 little avatar pictures i could have very well missed it). Please tell me this isn't a smuggler only armor piece...
  20. I just finished up this fight with my concealment op. Died the first time but figured out how to deal with the LoS issues. If Kaliyo grabs aggro right away and Jadus is on the platform where he starts you'll never kill him because of the LoS bugs, he wrecks your companion and then turns around and does the same to you. The LoS issues are only on that starting platform where he is flanked by the two guys. I put Kaliyo on passive, aggro'd him with a rifle shot from a ways back and kited him down the stairs off the platform a bit, then sent Kaliyo to attack and get aggro. If you take him into the consoles to the left and right of the walkway you can play LoS games with him if Kaliyo doesn't hold aggro or dies and you need to heal, wait for a cooldown etc. I did this for all phases of the fight and it worked like a charm It still sucks that its bugged, but this is a less irritating means of killing him.
  21. As long as the thread is going...i might as well ask. Whats up with Eviscerate? In pve I can use it on targets i Debilitate, but for some reason it never procs in PVP? Am I missing something?
  22. yes hidden strike is what I meant, my bad. Thanks
  23. Thanks for the feedback everyone. Glad to hear that its not as much of an issue at 50. Once I hate 30 it was like all of a sudden I hit a glass ceiling and TA generation and in turn Shiv cool down just become extremely frustrating. I didn't know backstab created TA, thats good stuff as i just picked that skill up. So one more quick question. Do we get some kind of a knockdown later on? I hear my guild mates complaining about Ops knocking them down and stun locking them, but I haven't seen anything in the skills looking at the trainer that talks about knockdown.
