I am one of those that actually plays both. I Love the storyline in Swtor and the combat. But i Love the awesome scale of WoW (well its had years of development) and it's sense of place + humour. The invisible wall effect that you get in Swtor compared to the more freeform exploration in WoW is also annoying. Crafting in both games seems fun enough but PvP in WoW is x10 better. I'm trying not to put Swtor down here by the way, but the one thing that really wins for me is the smoothness that WoW offers. it all seems far more polished and tweaked. However, both games have great points.

Yes i am aware of this but even GW2 and FFXIV run better than this on my laptop. Interesting fact there about the 90% cpu tweak. Right back on topic, Why no slider?

Thanks for the replies, sadly my settings are already set to that. However, the nameplate tip is something i haven't tried yet and i remember Warhammer Online benefiting from something like this. I am aware of the already inbuilt sliders and i have both Trees and Grass at 0. Its the view distance that i am really interested in though and sadly there isn't the option for this other than editing game files.

Not disputing what you are saying here, but i have found that many other games have worked just fine (Even GW 2 and FFXIV ARR run alot better than this) The laptop i own although not great seems to be able to play better looking games faster than this one manages. AMD A8 4500k 1.9-2.8GHZ under load 4 GB ram Radeon HD 7640g integrated. What i am saying is that the inclusion of a draw distance slider would improved FPS by quite some margin and that is the underlining factor with this thread. I have done many tweaks to the computer all with positive benefits to its general running for games. Its just Swtor that seems to suffer the most. Wish people would look at the post and not the old "Well he added WoW into this conversation, let's put out the old generic reply of how old it is". It isn't the major factor here , its the view distance.

Please implement a view distance slider to help people with lower spec machines. I can only imagine the amount of people that would suffer less frustration and carry on playing rather than reverting back to other mmo's if this was implemented.

But for some reason the game's fps has gone from a solid 30-50fps down into the low 20's with stuttering etc. I look after the little blighter very well and it gets all the maintenance required to keep it running tip top (if you could call it that lol) In WoW on Good settings it ran very well indeed once the View distance was put from Good down to fair. Hey it even got a steady 60fps and looking pretty tidy. So why oh why oh why haven't they implemented this into this game. I know that there is a farclip edit etc but surely someone with half a mind could bring a simple slider into this game and therefore make it alot more playbable for the masses. I remember that in Beta it was there but no more. Its a no brainer in my books.

I came back to Swtor after 3 weeks in GW2 (and a quick dabble on WoW) and was horrified just how clunky this game really is. Combat felt awful and the graphics were very subpar to GW2 and ran like crap. Such a shame.

Hi all, As a Lotro and a Swtor player i can safely say that if implemented fairly and correctly, the F2P model could infact get this game off of its knees. Lotro has thrived since it went F2P with regular expansions etc coming out since its implementation and i have also noticed that the world itself is a far busier place. With a massive IP like Star Wars being involved here, an IP that is surely as big if not bigger than Tolkiens world itself, then surely we are onto something good here. I applaud the changes and i'm certainly going to be around to see how it pans out. The only problem i see is the so called l33t players getting uppity at a load of "noobs" coming. These "noobs" could be the very players that get us new and improved content + a livelier feel to the game. My only concern is to why they haven't done this with another gaming fav of mine called Warhammer online. My only guess is that the game is so broken that there is nothing to gain whereas they see Swtor as revivable.

The 7850 would be the better choice, PC gamer mag have recently named it the best bargain out there. By the way your 4gb wouldnt have an impact on the GPU's perfomance, its more than adequete enough. 7850 it is.

Of course but my point is what if you only have a certain slot to be able to play? i would hate to have to roll on another server.

The other good one is to queue early, leave the PC to deal with RL issues. Then come back to find that the queue hasn't gone done quickly enough and so carry on doing something else RL. Come back to find that you have indeed got in earlier than the last message stated but have been DC'd due to inactivity. Log back in and Volia 1hour queue again.
