  1. First, I didn't write all that it was from the test I found. Second, it's for to,which takes time and effort. Third,if you can't figure out the first two then you are just looking to incite a negative response because you are ignorant of the discussion of this thread. That being taken care of. The typical person starting out doing is almost always used to single player games and they want that center stage feeling. Most moms these days center around the single player, unlike older ones which took their queue from table top games where you needed others to balance out your strengths and weaknesses. People tend to forget this when they start to show interest in to. Luke didn't do it all alone, there was an entire rebellion with him, including a princess, a puckish rogue, a hairy brute, an effeminate droid, and the quirky hacker(droid). Playing the part of a force user is daunting for most, Anakin seemed to be able to do it all, pilot star ships, destroy enemy capitol ships, build droids, bed the queen, win a war, befriend the emperor, become one of the best duelists, master the force, and still find time to balance the force. How does one compare to such high standards? I look to super heroes. Superman being the most broken hero of all time, until his revamp in 1984 he could make up super powers on his own at will, his sneezes could destroy solar system, and eventually he becomes immune to kryptonite. I try to never go that route because flaws are just as important to a well rounded character as their strengths are. So I aim for something like batman, his strength is his intelligence, his weaknesses are his being human, his emotional scars, and some might say his code to not kill. I like playing a Sith, I have my own set of rules, and I respect the people I rp with, not downplaying anyone's importance.
  2. Gargauth - 109 days 13 hours I am not including alt names and for obvious reasons no screen shots either. I will list the /played for each of them. Empire Alts: 12 hours 3 days 13 hours 7 days 18 hours 8 days 12 hours 9 days 9 hours 11 days 22 hours Republic Alts: 1 day 16 hours 5 days 2 hours 5 days 22 hours 7 days 2 hours 7 days 8 hours Total: 178 days 5 hours Account Creation Date: 03.14.09
  3. Something else to think of is: are the attributes of this character out of line with the IP? If someone says they have telepathy as a force user, they can (although what most people think of telepathy doesn't always fit. Most force users were able to glean emotions or images, this is known as force empathy and this is only the most basic form). Hell even flying is possible with the force and has been documented. That being said, saying that your character can...I don't know...turn into a werewolf, when there are no such things as werewolves in the IP, that is where it gets dumb (though I don't see why they couldn't turn into rakghouls as one of the agents companions can do so at will). Best at everything? yeah those people are just silly. Yoda was bested by Sidious who was bested by Darth Vader who was emotionally compromised by his son who he bested on Bespin. No matter how powerful someone thinks they are, they make mistakes and are prone to being out played by someone else. I think what this boils down to is that the rules be set when people start. If a community has already accepted that Jedi U'mpty-squat has the ability to create matter from nothing, then that was their choice. Joining a community that allowed that is your CHOICE. Ultimately what people need to do is communicate, not be sarcastic or demanding. We all play, some of us roleplay outloud, others do so quietly or personally, but in no way is it a communities responsibility to change the way they do things because of one person or because, "Back in X community we did it like this.", if you like the way they did it somewhere else, go there. Your choice.
  4. so I found this REALLY interesting site for anyone who thinks they might be a Mary Sue, or a Marty Stu as it were >< http://www.springhole.net/writing/marysue.htm I scored a 21, borderline for their criteria but I think I am well in line. I would have scored an 11 but I have something ongoing with all of my main characters that raised it 10 points. -0-16 Points Most likely Not-Sue. Characters at this level could probably take a little spicing up without hurting them any. 17-21 Fanfiction characters can go either way at this point depending on the writer. For an MMO/RPG or original fiction character, however, you're most likely perfectly fine. 22-29 Original fiction and MMO/RPG characters can go either way at this point depending on the writer. Fanfiction characters may need some adjustment, however. 30-35 Fanfiction authors beware - it's more likely than not that you have a Mary Sue on your hands. Role-players and original fiction writers, you should also consider tweaking your character. 36+ Fanfiction authors, you may just want to start over. Role-players and original fiction authors, at this point your characters are likely to provoke eye-rolling and exclaimations of "yeah, right!" from your readers. Immediate workover is probably in order. 50+ It's probably a lost cause either way, or you didn't read instructions properly (some people don't do this, which causes freakishly high scores). If it's the latter case, read the instructions and take the test again.
  5. in that case I agree with you, I think people would still queue for it. Honestly I thing the SAME people that queue now would queue for it still, and after 4v4 played out for a while maybe more people would want to try 8v8 for objectives instead of just mindlessly killing. But as someone else posted somewhere, they took out an unfinished idea to add in a bad idea.
  6. Zoo, I just wanted to clarify because it doesn't look like you fully understand from what you wrote here. But the Devs said there will be no more 8v8 ranked, they are taking it out of the game, so the 8v8 population will be gone as the option is being removed from the game. The people will still be here, most trying to set up 4v4 death matches, but 8v8 ranked is going the way of the dodo. I hope this helps clarify any misunderstandings. P.S. that doesn't mean that the warzones are going to be gone, only that you wont be able to queue up for 8v8 ranked.
  7. Please don't cry because this post may have hit a nerve, I'm not saying all tanks are like that, far from it. What I did say is that tanks don't have to be *****s (speaking to tanks that are *****s) and if this makes you upset then perhaps you are one of those *****s.
  8. See and I would agree with you there, but the tank was being REALLY timid, after waiting a bit for the tank to move the dps started casting and interrupting their CC, they did this a good 9-11 times then decided to go ahead, I can only assume because they thought the tank was waiting on the CC. Also I would like to pose a question. Does your tank guard? If so is it a healer or dps that they guard? Most times I pug the tank never guards anyone or they guard the healer, then wonder why it is so hard to hold agro.
  9. The other night I queued up for a random and got into a hammer station, just as we rounded the third corner with the two golds and 3 silvers the other dps that was with me CCd one of the golds and we proceeded to fight. Tank (who remains nameless because he isn't really important) ran in and aggroed everything and then broke the CC. When the fight was done he complained to his healer that he needed more heals, even though they were doing their best and that particular pull usually kills people who mess around. The dps that CCd told the tank that it would also help to not break CC. The tank got angry and told the dps that there was no CC because no one marked CC. The other dps told the tank that they shouldn't have to mark the CC, which I agree, it isn't hard to see who is CCd. To make a long story short, I know TOO late, the tank got upset and proceeded to tell us how much we needed him but he didn't need us, then he quit the group. Right after the healer left presumably to go to bed, which I can't blame them it was late at night. So the dps and I looked at each other and said ok lets kill a couple bosses, we then went and cleared the first two bosses. Here are some screen shots of it. First Boss Second Boss The lesson I am trying to convey here is that just because you are a tank, doesn't mean you should be egotistical, narcissistic, or rude when talking to people, because they will eventually learn how to get along without you. P.S. I just spoke to that "tank" and he told me that of course we beat those bosses, with hax. He made me smile.
  10. at the top of the server forums is a link to guild recruitment.
  11. not posting as someone keeps reporting me over nothing.
  13. Great videos, I just watched the other ones and I learned what it is you are doing with kickball, didn't know what it was about. Sometimes the walls of text in the forums just become another tedium, especially with how the PvP posts used to go with all the epeening and negativity. I'm glad that BG is doing something fun with it, heck I might even start PvPing again now that it looks like there are more people just trying to have fun. As for F2P, yes there are a lot of things you don't get but I've been trying out some other free to play games recently which are only free to play without a subscriber model and I have to be honest, you would still have to pay a lot just to get on even playing fields with other people. For example in Dungeons & Dragons online you have to pay in order to get the fastest mount, as well as a companion that is your level. In this game at least you can get the fastest mount training rather easily, in D&DO you can use mounts in their PvP Battlegrounds/warzones so being on a slower mount puts you at a disadvantage. As far as the companion in SWToR you don't use the companion in flashpoints, but in D&DO you use them in their flashpoints and they make all the difference. This is only one game, I have played others but don't feel like getting into those. Are you a second class citizen? Yes. Does it bother me? No. No where that you go will you get access to everything without paying something, as is the right of anyone who puts forth hard work and would like to have some monetary recompense. But this is just my opinion, and everyone has opinions.
  14. I know I'm going to regret posting here. I hope people leave, I WISH everyone that didn't role play would leave and find a server where they can do what they really want to do. People leaving here will not kill our server, hopefully it will just get rid of people who should never have rolled on an RP server to begin with. Realistically people will just go to the greener patch of grass on the other side of the server wall. As for the rest of us, we will get along just fine without, as we have before.
