20 seconds on a tank MAYBE. Most classes in similar gear go down in about 10-12 seconds, which sure isn't amazing, but only few classes outgun me in a 1v1 situation with similar gear.

Mostly Champion gear with a couple centurion, pieces nothing special. Also I don't know why people think PT burst is average. Maybe time your abilities a little better?

I don't know why people would ditch a level 50 PT. I just broke about 500 expertise (still not that high) and it's amazing what I can do to people. 10+ Medals a match with high survivability and insane burst? Yes please!

Your solution is to roll an alt? I enjoy playing dps spec on my current character. I tank because my guild needs it. I don't feel like playing for another month to get another 50 just to do what I already enjoy on my Vanguard. I don't mind paying respec costs, but I just feel the 100k per respec is steep.

I, for one, am for dual spec as well. I do respec multiple times a week (sometimes a day) for various reasons. I tank for my guild when we run hardmode flashpoints and ops. I don't play a tank because I enjoy it, I play it because if I don't, we don't run anything and I would rather play a role I don't enjoy and be doing content than the other way around. So when I pvp, I play assault and respec shield if needed for my friends.

Stop saying Sage/Trooper. I assume you mean Sage/Commando as I am having a very hard time hitting 150k healing done as a Vanguard

I luckily rarely have this problem as we usually run with myself as a Vanguard (Tank), Shadow (DPS) Sentinel (DPS) and Scoundrel (Healer) so no matter what drops we can usually use it. However I have noticed that Trooper gear seems to drop like candy and I rarely see knight gear. I have done 5 HM FPs so far and I am 4/5 Columi as well as Energized pants and a few other random purples while our sentinel is still in his old gear. All he got was a lightsaber thus far.

Well I currently play a vanguard and have fallen in love with assault spec. So maybe I can see if I can dps and switch to ion cell if needed on some fights.

So we begin ops next week as a guild and I have been hearing conflicting things. My guild leader is insisting on 2 tanks for our 8 man but I have been hearing 8 man only needs one. I'm not quite sure what to do as he wants me to gear as a tank MS and DPS OS even though I am the "offtank". Any of you experienced players have any advice? If there are 2 tanks needed on some fights and not others should I play a hybrid tank/dps spec? Should I off tank in dps spec with tank gear or tank spec with dps gear for fights I don't tank?
