1. Agreed. Kaliyo is in nearly full-orange gear with all blue 40 mods, and she gets absolutely trounced by mobs on Hoth. I gave up, modified my gameplay style, and started using a DPS companion out of frustration. Not a /ragequit situation, but clearly tank companions need some love in the higher levels of the game... not that I expect BW to really do anything about it.
2. Core i5 2500k 8GB Crucial/G.Skill RAM Asus or A-Rock z68 motherboard Antec case 600W+ name-brand power supply (Antec works well and is priced well too) Nvidia GTX 460 video card 320gb Western Digital drive OEM DVD burner Price that out and you should easily be within the range you need. Check out http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc for more tips.
3. Beating a bugged Jadus is like an IA rite of passage. Seriously though, either setup camp on top of him and go to town, or have Kaliyo move him around via taunt/passive so you can get a better angle. Also, as someone else said too, getting a guildie/friend to assist makes it a lot easier too. Also, interrupts. 'Nuff said.
4. This has been my strategy, take from it what you will: 1. **DO NOT BUY SKILLS YOU DON'T USE** - I'm holding off right now on the upper-tier of Debilitate because it's 17k, and there's maybe a 20dmg increase. The skill is meant to be a stun, not a major damage dealer. Only buy upgrades for skills you actually use. 2. Don't bother with sub <50 crafting if it means you have to actually buy materials. By that, I mean don't spend 5k for two stacks of Blue Goo (using Biochem as an example). Just hold out and use a lower item till you're in an area where said Blue Goo is plentiful. 3. Personal preference here, but I just vendor my greens. I know, I know, GTN deposits etc., but it's just a lot of effort for me personally. 4. PVP two matches a day. That's 30 minutes, max. Even with a double-loss, that's about 2k a day right there. 5. Space dailies, do anything green and above, religiously. I do mine while I talk on the phone when my wife is driving home from work (I get home early! /smirk). That's another 3k/day. 6. Avoid the GTN for gear unless you absolutely have to, and always take the orange items when you are offered one (even if it is for a slot you already have). This is because eventually everyone gets a companion (FO troopers who start off with this bonus) who uses the same type of gear you do, and thusly can get your hand-me-downs, meaning you can gear them up quicker and use only mods to improve gear overall. This means though that once you get 2 orange helms, if you get a better orange helm you like better, equip it, pick the other one you like, and sell the now-useless third. 7. When completing quests, I use the following formula: Orange Gear > commendations OR companion gear if lacking aforementioned secondary oranges > storage boxes. Using that method there, after a week's time, just between PVP and space dailies, you've got 35k. Don't stress if you hit 40 and you're still using a 90% speeder, it's not the end of the world, and you're talking a 10% speed difference.
5. Agreed, I just finished up Act 2 for my IA and I thought it was well done. Overall though IA is basically a cosmic ******.
6. I was pretty pleased last night when I heard about the stealth buff to the slicing missions (to make it so that you at least didn't lose money on missions). Now to read that it's been re-nerfed, I'm just annoyed and discouraged. I'm not going to unsub over it or anything, I just think it's really lame, and I tweeted as much to #SWTOR and #RockJaw (though that seems to just fall on deaf ears at this point, I think I've gotten a response once from them). At this point, I'm just like "whatever" when it comes to crew skills.
7. Suggestion: turn off the servers. I'm at work, so I don't particularly care, nor do I have any 50 chars, but I can see how this would piss people off. tl;dr - downtime > exploittime
8. I 100% agree with this post. I've particularly found that the second planet of each faction (Coruscant and Dromund Kaas *in particular*) contain some fairly rancid players. I have now re-rolled from a PVP server of particular note because the community was just absolutely intolerable. I logged in once, said "hello Nar Shaddaa" in General chat, and the next comment was from someone named "Fruit" and consisted of, and I quote, "fu." That's just classless doucheism, plain and simple. But to be perfectly honest with you, I've found that PVP-ism in general can really result in some fairly low-class players (see above). I see the level of people coming from games like WoW and Eve, and there are some organizations that just consist of 100% vitriol and play just to ruin the experience of other people. It's one thing to PVP, it's another thing to corpse camp, but it's entirely another thing for a person to sit in general chat constantly telling everything else that they should get AIDS and that they hope everyone's children has Down Syndrome. That's not a game worth paying for, or a community worth engaging. To the OP: Ultimately, I bit the bullet. I rerolled on a PVE-RP server, and have had a great experience so far overall (though there will always be a few percentage points of ugliness). I lost maybe a week's worth of time in playing for having to reroll, but the tradeoff is that I can group with people who are 95%+ time respectful, and usually moreso friendly. I would encourage you to try and evaluate your overall in-game ROI. If other people are ruining your experience, sometimes it's better to just find a new home. I'm in a great guild, with people who are engaging, fun to chat with, and just in general friendly and respectful. I hope you are able to find the same.
9. 100% agreed. Everyone is just OMGJESUSCHRISTSUPERSTAR NERF BIOCHEM, when really Biochem is fine, the other crafting professions simply lack the appropriate bonuses to bring them in line with Biochem's intrinsic "worth." You could even go as far as to say, implement those bonuses, AND take out the Rakata stims, but give Biochemists a "Chem Boost" passive ability that gets an increase from non perma-pack-stims. That way, the market becomes more viable for the need for endgame stims that are still consumable, Biochemists just get an according stat boost like the other crew skills would get from their respective "bonus items." Come on Georg & Co., this isn't Calc III, get it done already.
10. Simple answer: Armstech-only BOP barrels Artifice-only BOP hilts Cybertech-only BOP mods Synthweaving-only BOP "thread" or something Armormech-only BOP "plating" or something I mean it's really not that hard, just give the other craftable skills some bonus of some sort instead of nerfbatting the crap out of another profession.
11.
Assuming the OPs talking about Bioware based consolidation (rather then voluntary community driven) server mergers are quite easy to do. All characters are transfer from server A to server B and server A is then closed. To use the OP's example, all characters would be copied from Ebon Hawk to Lord Adraas and Ebon Hawk would cease to exist.
Sorry yes, I should have specified, this would be a server-based consolidation on the Bioware side, not everyone re-rolling to one server or another. As others have said though (and I neglected to originally consider), some folks are attached to their servers as it is (I am really liking Lord Adraas btw), and there could be a problem with name-collision-consolidation too. Additionally, this should not have been read that I think communities are lacking on their respective servers; rather, it was meant to enhance everyone's experience by consolidating our two strong communities into one.
12. This might be outlandish, but it seems like the server populations are spread a bit *thin* at the moment. I'm just curious, since LA and EH are both RP-PVE servers, what do people think of consolidating the two communities? I think it would be good to bolster server populations overall (I have yet to see a zone that has more than 100+ people in it during peak time except for Fleet), and since I'd say these two servers are two of what seem to be the more well-regarded RP-PVE servers available right now, it might be worthwhile. What do you all think?
13. Tbh I would rather have: Patch 1.1: Rise of the Addons
14. 1. My ship 2. Ilum (I don't even have a 50 yet, but since it's an endgame planet, that makes sense) 3. Abstain - instead, conjoin the neutral GTN into the standard GTN, and then make it cross-platform. That would give us Nar Shaddaa then also. If #3 isn't an option, I dunno... what's the big deal w/every planet, loadscreening 5 screens to get to a GTN terminal is a moderate PITA, what's the beef?
