  1. Something I've read in another thread has gotten me curious. Does past gaming experience make a significant impact on what you think of this game. So for this poll, rate the game out of 10, add a few likes and dislikes as well, but then state where you're coming from and what you've played before. 6/10 +Solid Voiceacting +Great Starter Zones +Very Newb Friendly +Early Flashpoints are well done -Static Worlds -LS/DS Choice doesn't really affect world or character -Combat Feel (ability delay and mechanics) -Uninspired Quest Mechanics -No LFG -Poor Guild/Group Implementation -No challenging combat encounters (action/reaction requirements) Gamer for 12 years as a primary hobby Primarily RPG and FPS, with a few adventure games thrown in Favorites: Half-Life 1+2, Deus Ex, KOTOR, Mass Effect, GTA Series, Call of Duty (original), Battlefield (all), Team Fortress, Elder Scrolls MMO Experience - Tried most of them, see SIG for those that stuck
  2. So, a group of dissatisfied gamers kept a constant discussion up on the terrible ability delay in the game while hundreds of fanboys stated there was no problem and the game was fine. The developer then admits there is a problem with the code and promises to fix it. So who's laughing, again? Hint, it's not the fanboys.
  3. Yes, these forums are filled with posts that point out percieved problems with the game. The game is missing features, has glaring bugs, balance issues, etc... For every post that brings up these issues, the thread soon devolves into an arguement of why the player is bothering to post instead of either enjoying the game or just quitting and moving back to other genre offerings. The reason is simple, we complainers WANT the game to succeed. We want to have fun, we want the game to be filled with content and the features we have come to expect and rely upon in the MMO market. We bring discussion to game elements so the developers gain community insight into what their customers are most dissatisfied with or would favor changes be made. Counter-points are great for such a thread, as they add to the discussion. Only understand that counter-arguements are not the same as dismissals. So when reading all the negative posts, keep in mind those posting are doing so because they have a vested interest in the game, and are adding their voice to what can be done to change the game for the better. TLDR: It is the squeaky wheel that gets the grease.
  4. The free month is up, and being an avid reader on these and other gaming forums, a significant percent of players are going to place their subscription on hiatus until several of the larger game issues are addressed. Here's a place to list them out, what features and fixes are you going to keep on your radar when looking through the patch notes to make your decision to come back. I'll go first: 1. Ability Delay 2. LFG Tool 3. Dual-Spec
  5. Responses in this thread amaze me sometimes, but then I thought of a real life example after watching an episode of Top Gear that may shed light to why so many state they don't have this issue. So, lets compare SWTOR to a new automobile, say the BMW M3. During testing of the M3, the reviewer notices that the gearbox is annoyingly slow to change up and down gears. People may or not agree with this, because they have a different view of how automobiles should operate, just as gamers have different levels of experience and expectations with games. The soccer mom, who's only ever driven a clunky SUV or minivan, wouldn't notice the problem with the transmission, and claim that everything is fine. The weekend track racer or enthusiast would feel that the vehicle doesn't quite accelerate right, but may not be able to precisely place what they don't like about the performance. The professional racing driver would immediately notice the terrible gearbox and would hate the current state of the automobile because of it. Everybody get the comparison, let me know as we continue to bump the thread
  6. For those that have said they've stopped their subscription and are still watching this thread, quick question. Is there a survey section that lets you explain why you've quit? Because if Bioware starts to see a real economic impact due to this issue, it will further motivate change. Brings to mind the situation in Fight Club where the major automotive manufactures have a limit to paying out lawsuits for faulty cars before they decide to recall the entire product line.
  7. Thanks for the responses, can't wait to see some of these places soon.
  8. Up to level 16ish and all I've seen are small segments of zones seperated by small segments of instances seperated by planets and shards and every other concievable invention to make the world seem disjointed. Does this game's world ever open up, because right now I feel like I'm just running through corridors.
  9. Point Blank: Agreed. Bioware, if this game mechanic isn't fixed in the first quarter of release, you can count on at least one less subscription, mine.
  10. As an IRL NCO myself, I understand exactly what the OP is talking about, it also irks me on the occasionaly cutscene. Sadly, it looks like it's just poor writing on Bioware's part to include real ranks without fully understanding the rank structure. (this is for us military types what this picture is to the hardcore Star Wars fans http://www.picselate.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/lotr-star-wars-harry-potter.jpg )
