  1. Bioware: La la la... we can't hear you... la la la!!!
  2. I totally agree. Dont listen to the appologists. Ravagers is a disgusting insult. A parrot? And the lame, poorly acted dialog? **** this cannot be real... But it is. This game is a joke. Everytime I try to play outside of set guild raids I am reminded how bad it has become.
  3. Agree with this 100%! Laptop CPUs are usually underclocked garbage. Especially, if you are on battery power or have misconfigured windows power management.
  4. You seem to be the one confused about what pragmatic means. It means to deal with things rationally, factually, and without emotion.
  5. I don't disagree that they have great plans for SWTOR. My point is that they need to start work on the next SW MMO now so it will be ready while the iron is hot.
  6. They didn't build the original engine from scratch. They bought it. They wouldn't build this one either. They have access to several cutting edge graphic engines right now. Though, 2 years is on the low side and includes some rather unlikely assumptions like they already have a handle on most of the preliminary production work.
  7. Those big fish take a set percentage of investment and provide a stable return. That is business. But it doesn't mean that EA is not interested in investing in other things. EA publishes hundreds of games a year - big fish, small fish, and medium sized fish. Let me show you pragmatic... Facts: The Star Wars franchise is valuable and resurgent. EA has a development studio that is familiar with the franchise. Free to play hybrid is a viable business model for an MMO game. EA has a development studio that is familiar with this business model. EA has an established customer base for a new Star Wars MMO. If Disney has given EA the ability to renew their license for future MMOs it seems like a no brainer to start development on the next game.
  8. Finally, someone with a rational response! Gamer's tend to be an emotionally driven bunch and business is business. I pretty much agree with you, and I guess when I said SWTOR 2 what I meant was "Another Star Wars MMO by Bioware" I think 5 years might miss the boat. I am hoping that EA has had this in their 5 to 10 year plan for a couple years now. I think it is likely we will see a rash of new Star Wars themed games announced this year for release over the next 24 months, including a new MMO.
  9. You guys are not looking at this pragmatically. EA loves SWTOR now. It makes a lot of money, and has been profitable. They were new to the MMO game and they made their way through rough times with a successful product. Now they have a chance to leverage that market knowledge. They have a very successful and resurgent franchise with Star Wars. They have a very accurate prediction of sales and sub rates using current rates, so it would be easy to find a budget that would work. It certainly won't be 200m again, but they wouldn't really need that much either based on what they have learned. I would assume this would be planned for ~2 years out. EA knows that SWTOR's revenue will begin to decline as it ages. They will slow that decline with updates and expansions, but it will decline. EA will not want to let that market share just dwindle away. The only thing that would stop them from making SWTOR 2 is if Disney has other plans for the MMO market with regard to the Star Wars license.
  10. If you are so wise can you enlighten me?
  11. Don't worry I have dispatched a few weather sensor probe droids to check this out. Whatever you do, do not shoot them. They are very sensitive and you may trigger the self destruct.
  12. Most of my issues with this game would be solved with a better graphics engine. We will not see a new engine retro fitted in to SWTOR. Also, some fundamental things about the game's design make it very difficult to add new classes. So I assume we won't see new classes. This game is 3 yrs old, and I have been playing since beta. I was wondering if there was any concrete evidence that Bioware or EA have put SWTOR 2 on their road maps? I think with all that they have learned and a cutting edge graphics engine the team could build an awesome follow up to SWTOR.
  13. I am confused by the semantics of this. Is Rapid Recovery supposed to grant a 100% boost to force returned from Double Bladed Saber Defense? If Double Bladed Saber Defense returns 2% then with Rapid Recovery it should return 4% correct? Prior to the last patch was it returning 8% (4% x 2) or was it a static 4% and Rapid Recovery was not working?
  14. Musco said watch the end. I did. I see a sith warrior using jedi meditation. I see a sith warrior helping Theron Shan escape from an imperial holding facility.
  15. Ive played mainly tanks in this game for 3 years, so I think I have a handle on it. I can tell you one thing. Too often strategies, tactics and mechanics are too reliant on a tank to do the heavy lifting. This is mainly a game design problem. Threat only matters in the first 30 seconds of a fight. In most fights, after that, the threat is locked in. This makes tanking somewhat boring. Knowing this, Bioware designed encounters where the tank is responsible for the majority of the mechanics. This makes tanking either boring or high pressure. For a long time I liked the high pressure aspect. I liked being in charge and taking control. However, after 3 years of that I am pretty burnt out. Standing back and dropping some ranged dps without caring about much is refreshing and fun.
  16. Wow... Just.. Wow. I have read every one of your posts on this thread and you are so off base it isn't even funny. In fact you are the most dangerous form of ignorant. You are the type that is confident they are right when they are so grossly misinformed. You go about misinforming people and spreading your ignorance like a virus. Facts: Modern 3D Games do NOT have a native resolution. Monitors have native resolutions. Game textures have resolutions but game models will scale to ANY resolution. Higher resolutions do not increase the polygons used on models, but they increase the amount of pixels used to render the polygon, which reduces the pixelated look of edges in 3d games, lessening the need for things like Antialiasing and increasing crispness and clarity SWTOR can be played at 4k resolution and it looks great but you will need a hefty video card to handle the resolution I have always played SWTOR at 2560x1600 resolution which is close to 4k. I have an ati r9 290x top of the line video card. I can max all settings in normal play and keep above 30fps but in raids the shadow map resolution setting is too taxing.
  17. The Devs all play Destiny and were like "Why do our mounts suck compared to the Sparrow?"
  18. LOL! It's not even out yet but it's working as intended.
  19. This. You just said everything I have been thinking for the past month. The only thing I would add is that in addition to the HMs not being fun, the regular daily areas are a flipping joke. You can basically do any of the solo content naked. The reason you have such ****** players when you group is because the solo game does not demand more than spamming your free attack in green gear. I remember when grinding dailies had a purpose and was challenging: get a ton of daily coms to grab those awesome implants. Now there is no purpose to anything in this game except the broken ops. And to top it off the player base has become so bad that pugging a 16m sm op is worse than a root canal. Simple fixes: Add VALUABLE RNG drops throughout the daily areas - such as NON lettered 192 mods and enhancements. Reward HM flashpoints with 198 NON lettered mods and accuracy enhancements. move the BiS implants as com gear instead of the crap versions we currently get.
  20. I think you are reading to much into the word Designer. I am sure they sat around and said "What should we call our appearance tab that everyone wants?" "Um, we can't call it an appearance tab?" "No, that other game calls it that." "Oh, let me get my thesaurus.... How about Costume Designer?" "Cool."
  21. If you seriously think that this custume designer is anything more than an appearance tab you are going to be disappointed. They have invested a ton of time and money making hundreds of outfits in this game and the costume designer is nothing more than a way to utilize them. It will not allow you to modify existing models, textures or meshes.
  22. You obviously do not know what an exploit is in the context of a video game. The slot machine was being used exactly as it was intended. Pay coins, get stuff. The drop rates were as designed. Their was a backlash from the community, Bioware listened and they adjusted the drop rate. There was NO EXPLOITING.
  23. Just wanted to jump in and say that Parsec has a new export/import feature that allows a person to export their timers to a file. Maybe some intrepid user will share their awesome raid timers with everyone To import timers and merge them with yours you click File > Import Data. Deselect everything except Timers and deselect the Remove Current option. Then select the import file and click import.
  24. The patch notes have some hints on where to find the new functionality: clicky
