  1. I haven't played for a few years, just came back to SWTOR and it's frighteningly comforting to see some things haven't changed, like bugs that are "features".
  2. Perfect answers, thanks and very much appreciated!
  3. Hi, returning player here. Last time I played cap was 55 so right now i'm kind of clueless. Where should I start, story and quest wise? Also I played both Shadow and Assassin tank when I was active. Do casual groups, guilds and/ or pugs still need tanks? Is leveling in tank spec still viable or even advisable? Thanks!
  4. Here's a tip: you don't need to buy everything in the first few hours. The guild ships and strongholds are being passed along as pve content to us. In other words, grind, play the GTN, do dailies, whatever because this is what we're going to be doing for the rest of this year.
  5. Up until this week I have a pretty decent rate of getting corusca gems. Now I have been doing grade 6 missions on two characters every time the gem missions are available and I am logged in, so probably close to 50 missions this week and I have not gotten a single corusca gem. Anyone else having really bad luck?
  6. I totally agree, but I don't think it will happen because of the cartel crap. That's what is making crafting less useful and profitable then it should be.
  7. I have two max level Treasure Hunters and since yesterday, Tuesday May 13, I have seen only one grade 6 gemstone mission available. I sent out five companions for each in grade 6 missions to try and get a gemstone mission to appear six times by now since yesterday and still have only gotten one gemstone mission. Is this a stealth change?
  8. There is no way that eight different people in eight different parts of the country with eight different computers and at least five different internet providers could be experiencing lag at the same time and said lag is not at the server level. This has been going on since before launch. Maybe BioWare needs to get some people on the hardware side of things?
  9. It's not just this game, it's every single game out there. Just check out any game forum. The problem is people.
  10. OK, so it appears that you like the class stories for what they are, stories. Probably the other quests as well. How does double XP change that enjoyment for you in any meaningful way? You can still do all the quests on a planet, including the bonus series. In fact, many people who leveled up long before the double XP were able to do so and miss a lot of quests. The people that wanted to experience the story went back and did those quests. I fail to see how double XP affects the game in a negative way.
  11. You can ALWAYS dismiss your companion if you feel that you are not being challenged enough.
  12. If you want your own "off rails" experience then participate in your local server forum, your guild in game and other people you meet and put together your own event! The bounty hunting part is especially easy to do with coordination. I've done similar in other MMOs with great success. You just need to find the people who will put in a meager amount of effort and cooperation.
  13. I hope not, especially since the class stories is one of the major draws of the game. I wouldn't consider Makeb to be a proper chapter.
  14. You can always play without using a companion if you want more of a challenge.
  15. More class specific quests if we're not going to get any more class story.
  16. I haven't seen a lot of details yet about the upcoming housing. So I figured I may as well ask, or at least start the idea about the housing being specific to each character or can a single house be shared amongst the legacy? For example say I have two characters in my family tree who are father and son, could they share the same housing so when I enter on each character it looks the same, decorations, layout, etc? I think it would be cool to have that option, considering the legacy is supposed to tie all of our characters together. Even if the family tree feature is sorely lacking. Thanks!
  17. Did maintenance get postponed? It's a little after 11:30 PST and I'm still in game, didn't see a shut down message yet.
  18. I'm amazed that the game still does not have a universal key binding set up for all your characters on a server! I played from beta until a few months after the first content addition then took off for a while. I came back and was a bit disheartened that I still have to set up my keybinds for every single character separately.
  19. As the title says, I'd happily pay some CC to disable my character from the grunting, the moaning and the random "argh!" and "ugh!" I hear while fighting. Sure, on some characters it works, but not all. I really don't think my Sith Juggernaut is going to moan like Right Said Fred when someone hits him in combat.
  20. I haven't played in well over a year, I'm coming back to my 50 shadow. Has the rotation changed a lot specifically for Infiltration? I know it'll take me a little bit of time to get back into the swing of things here but stuff is already coming back; I did play Infiltration and KC for a long time before leaving the game. Thanks!
  21. If you bind a lot of abilities using the ALT key and it sticks, you really should buy a new keyboard. You don't need an expensive gaming keyboard, you can buy a decent keyboard for like $10.
  22. Blizzard introduced incentives for tanks and healers for WoW's LFD system. I had two tanks and a healer I raided with, and I almost never queued as tank or healer. I went as DPS because there were just too many selfish players who refused to accept the fact that a group needs to work together. We are seeing the same problem here. You can add all the incentives in the world, but you can't change people's behavior. That's why tanks and healers are always hard to find.
  23. Whoops, posted this in the wrong thread, so reposting it in the right spot. There's only one reason I cancelled my recurring subscription: the way BioWare sprung the server merges on us. I fully understand the need for low pop servers to be made into origin servers and allow people to move, but why were so many healthy pop servers designated as origin? Lord Adraas, for example, was by all accounts right around the same pop as Ebon Hawk, and LA was designated for transfers. It gutted the entire server, destroyed many guilds (my own included) and caused a lot of people to have to rename their characters and legacy. Since BioWare has been stressing the importance of the Legacy system, and reminding us at every turn that we need to be sure when we choose a name, because it's permanent, and basically putting a high importance on our characters' identities to have to lose that identity after months of play time is frustrating. If BW had come out before the transfers and said stated that they would be merging servers, for the benefit of all the features coming in patch 1.3 (LFG, pvp, etc.) then many of us would not have been annoyed by suddenly having a healthy server population disappear. I feel that I was duped and that BW is only giving us the illusion of choice by calling these merges "transfers" instead. The process is exactly how EA/Mythic consolidated servers in Warhammer, allowing free transfers first then forcing people after the server was shut down, but at least they stated they would be doing it that way. In a few months, I expect most of the origin servers to be gone entirely. I still have two months left in my subscription, and in a few days maybe I will feel like playing again. I lost a guild I put a lot of time and effort into establishing an identity and reputation on my server, and when some of my guildies transferred and tried to recreate the guild they found that the name was already taken. So now I lost out monetarily on our guild's website. However, I will see if I can regain my desire to play, especially as the new patch comes and we find out more about what is coming at the end of the year. Oh, ok, maybe one other reason: all the free to play talk. You should have worked out f2p from the beginning, in my experience games that go from sub to f2p are never the same, and every one I've played tha went that way I wound up quitting.
