  1. Synopsis: Bunch of angry old men looking at the past through rose tinted glasses. I bet that hasn't with every generation in the history of mankind. I hear a lot of PvE'ers whine about, and blame nearly everything on the PvP crowd. You come off as just as whiny and entitled as you claim that people who enjoy PvP are. God forbid that some people enjoy both...*the sounds of minds exploding*. Newsflash: Most of the hardcore PvE'ers left this game 3 months ago or more because the content was about as challenging as kindergarten coloring book. Continue with the circle jerk though, it's entertaining in the same way a train wreck is.
  2. Amount of plastic in the piece, probably 50 cents. Amount of labor and materials in painting them in China? Probably about 50 cents. Amount they are charging? $380. But hey I remember when people were paying $800 on ebay for tickle me elmos because little johnny just had to have one for Christmas.
  3. Apples to oranges. Many MMOs have a much more frequent content update. You argument would be the same as me saying...I have NPR set as my homepage and the content changes 3 or 4 times a day. Why can't swtor be like the NPR homepage?
  4. I'm pretty much in the same boat but I only have 6 50's, not 8.I had no desire to level up a bounty hunter after beta, or a jugg/mar. I like the game even though a lot of things really need fixing, there is just nothing to do. The pvp hacking is what sent me over the edge. Edit: I have a wife, so don't tell me I need to find a GF.
  5. 3 Months ago my server would have well over a hundred people on at primetime. Today it might be around 50. The game is hemorrhaging subscribers. I'd say the market is speaking. [edit: I am talking about my original sever with my first 3 level 50's on it not my current servr which has gone through 2 transfers and is still having population problems.) I never even tried to imply that. I was speaking specifically about EA. EA is a bad company, with a known history of running successful companies into the ground. Did you miss the whole part where I said "Nobody wants to see a company that puts out a good product do badly" Does that statement sound like I am anti-business, or anti-corporation? Again you assume too much. You are arguing with a strawman. I never asserted they did not. I am specifically talking about EA and this game. Haha when the supreme court and a presidential candidate both say "Corporations are people" the water is already muddied. False. I worked for one of the largest corporations on the planet for 11 years. This is actually categorically false. I was excited to learn that BW was developing this game. I have always enjoyed BW's games. ME, and KOTOR being two of my all time favorite PC games. When EA bought BW and forced the game out early for the holiday season I knew the proverbial S*&t was going to hit the fan. Once again EA has worked their magic on a product that had so much potential. That's fine. I'm tired of waiting.
  6. It's funny you say that. You are right, but when this game dies due to not listening to the subscriber base, I don't wanna hear the fanboi's whine about it. They (BW/EA) don't have to listen to the customer base, but I don't have to keep forking over $15 for a sub-par product. Two way street. BW is not entitled to my money.
  7. I was waiting for this reply. Nobody wants to see a company that offers a great product do badly. What we don't wanna see is super giant mega corporation try to milk customers for a sub par game that has a shiny Star Wars label on top of it's turd coated innards. On the other side of your Sean Hannity-esque statement nobody seems to understand that a corporation should have to put out a superior product to make money. Good doctors don't get into the medical profession "just to make money". Good game designers shouldn't get into the game designing profession "just to make money". People that have a passion for the job they do tend to put out better products. EA has a passion for buying successful studios, running them into the ground, and then closing up shop. They are the vampire of the gaming world.
  8. I'm on Jung Ma. It's at about 85-100 during primetime hours on republic fleet. That's after 2 "mergers". I'm really disappointed in the pvp on Jung Ma especially with the rash of hacking that's been going around on both empire and republic. I'll be headed to that other game tomorrow at midnight.
  9. I've been darkside 5, lost some darkside points, and ran a couple diplomacy missions to get them back again. You can still make it to dark side 5, you just have to make up the points you lost to light side.
  10. I don't think the crowd has changed much other than the games becoming more accessible. The difference is they (the complainers) have more of an open outlet to express their frustration, other people pile onto the whining thread and turn it into a 30 page whinefest of drama queen-ness. I remember hearing the amount of dissatisfied posters on an average mmo forum compared to satisfied posters is 30 to 1. People come to the forum and let all this negativity affect their opinion of the game. It's not that bad of a game, and about 75% of every thread is full of crap. The community, here in these forums, is garbage.
  11. I don't consider heavy consuming, being able to casually get to level 50 in a month. Again I say, this game was not billed as a heavy PvE game and if they figured out the world pvp component , it wouldn't be considered a mainly pve game. Contrary to your belief, you can have both in a game. I don't think most of the pvp guilds in this game consider it a mini-game, a diversion, or a side game. Don't reflect your bias onto others.
  12. I am 34. I have gamed on every major console since I was about 5 and a few of the minor ones. I started computer gaming at about 8 years old. I have played every major MMO, and most minor MMO's. I just don't get the whole "things were harder in my day" old man mentality. That is rose tinting it. There were plenty of things that sucked back then too. Gaming is a hobby, you act as if you are some sort of skilled artist to even consider yourself a gamer. Do you play games? Do you enjoy playing games? Congratulations, you are a gamer. Games are always trivial. They are games. They are something to be played. You take yourself about 300 degrees too far to the right of serious. To be as successful as possible in an MMO nowadays you have to cater to all segments of the market. Casuals, pvp'ers, hardcore raiders. Casuals get their storymodes, pvp'ers get their warzones and owpvp, raiders get their hardmodes and nightmare modes. That is the state of things today. To sit there and talk about entitlement, and "real" pvp, and "back in my day" , isn't useful, and it really doesn't add anything to the conversation other than inflating your own epeen.
  13. EA forced the game out too soon. End of story. That is the major reason the game is so front-loaded, there is so little to do at 50, many wanted features are included 8 months down the road, and the pvp feels incomplete.
  14. Lol, what dues do you have to pay to be considered a gamer. Get off your high horse man. "I'm a 'real' gamer, and I know what 'real' pvp is". You are getting to the point of being absolutely ridiculous. You are so judgmental of others that I dunno how someone takes you seriously.
  15. You need to go back and rewatch the movies, because obviously you don't have a good grasp on the order of events.
  16. I'll try to make it short 1) PvP hackers. On my server it's an epidemic. Several large guilds are very blatant about it. clipping hack, speed hacks, health regen hacks, skill spam hacks. People reported over and over and are still there doing the same thing a week later. 2)Lack of world pvp. It's coming, it's in the works, blah blah. These issues should have been sorted out before release. 3)Class quests. Don't get me wrong the class quests are great...however if I want a gunslinger and a scoundrel healer I am not gonna play through the same storyline twice. You should have had separate storylines for each advanced class. This would have made things insanely better and given a lot of people more incentive to roll alts. 4)You botched the legacy system. Most of the crap is utterly useless, and much of it I have to pay credits for rather than unlocking it through playing the game. I have 6 level 50's and I can't play a Chiss Jedi unless I pay 2.5 million or I level one up to 50 on the empire side. 5)You don't listen to your subscribers. The reason I left warcraft was the contempt I felt the dev team had towards the community (granted this community is horrible). You just aren't listening, or you hear us but you think you know better.
  17. I was told earlier in this thread "pvp was a minor part of this game(swtor)" and that it was "primarily a pve game with a little bit of pve thrown in". Ok well lets turn the tables. The game is called "Guild Wars". Think about that for a second. It's not called Dungeon Divers, or Dragon Slayers. There is your first clue that it is primarily a pvp game with a little bit of pve thrown in. If lack of pve endgame is on your list of worries, you might wanna look elsewhere.
  18. Don't you see that you are epeening over what you consider that real pvp is vs. what you call watered down pvp? Doesn't have anything to do with "people can't handle it" it has more to do with "that is a non-sensical pvp model". What you are doing amounts to an old man saying, "in my day soda pop cost a nickel, and they punched you in the mouth when you bought one, and you told them thank you as you walked out the door". Ok old man, relax, we get it. Pvp is not as cool as the game you played 10 years ago.
  19. Would pvper's whine if they weren't included in the equation? Yes, to have a successful MMO you have to cater to all elements of your potential subscriber base. The same way PvE'ers would wine if they didn't have their servers, and the way the forums blew up pre-launch when BW wasn't sure they were going to include RP-PVP servers. There is a standard set by that "other" giant game. Really? Is it fake PvE if you que up through the group finder? You didn't go out into the world and assemble your own party so it must be fake PvE by your logic. WoW took elements of FPS and successfully combined them into an MMO format. People liked it. It was popular. To only consider world pvp to be "real" pvp is a pretty narrow-minded viewpoint, but 9 out of 10 posts you come across as condescending so I'm not surprised. You are pitting one player against another player in an objective based environment. To say you don't appreciate or enjoy that type of pvp would be legitimate. To say that it is fake pvp just makes you look like a judgmental old man. Again with the "real" pvp. We get it you don't like the pvp here. I enjoy the pvp. The game billed as game for PvE'ers as much as PvP'ers. Saying that it isn't real pvp just shows your bias, you really present no serious argument that it isn't pvp other than your experience in another game. Ok it isn't like DAOC. And?
  20. The only people that complain about sniper are the ones who leave them alone at a node to just freecast the entire game. We put a crap ton of damage out, but if a marauder or good operative gets after us, it's game over. I have fought many matches where nobody attacks me the entire match because they are too busy deathmatching. If our damage was nerfed without an increase in survivability we'd be a worthless class. We have no utility other than damage and our aoe stun, we have to stand still and be a turret to do any damage, and if we have to close up shop to run away from melee we aren't doing any damage we are just kiting hoping that someone will peel.
  21. Long story short, BW is tired of players dropping subs every time 1 little thing doesn't go the way they want. It's similar to when WoW started practically giving epics away for just logging in to the game with pvp/pve. I don't think the problem is the game, the problem is the whiny playerbase.
  22. We like to have a lot of laughs in the warzones, but today we wanna talk about something serious: Packs of stray Operatives that have stunlocked most of the major cities in Mexico. That's packs of wild, vicious Operatives that are controlling most of...... -Ricky Bobby
  23. This always cracks me up when we are talking about a service that people are paying for. Like you should just hand over your money and expect absolutely nothing in return. The term has been used so often in political discourse that it has pretty much become a pun at this point.
