Yeah im curious as well. I stream on Twitch so am considering doing this on the April Weekend (Book time off work/Set up for it etc). Im not sure how quick i can lvl 1-50 on mainly Class Quests though. Or whether it really would be easier to just port away and head to Ilum. (I'd much rather work through the story, more interesting to watch on Twitch than grinding something for 24 hours straight.) Im sure Running Class quests/PvP/XP Flashpoints should be able to get you to 50 in under 24 hours...

Really? Ive found this to be one of the friendliest... Got to 50 on my old account, first time doing one of the FPs. (The Island one i think...) Told the guys there that i'd never done them before (This is before i even got the free 50 gear from fleet that was better than my stuff). Went into the FP, they took it slowly for me, explained it to me about where we should go and what the bosses would do to watch out for. Died about 6/7 times to one boss (This is when the Repair costs were stupidly high...). Took about 2-3hours to complete it and it was probably the most fun ive ever had. Compared to other MMOs ive played, definitely one of the best communities for PvM.

Thanks for all your replies. I have to say, i just started playing. Been playing over 8 hours on my new character and only level 6. And why, THE PEOPLE. OMG There is people, just like i remember from my Early Access. I have to say, i found it very disheartening to jump into a guild, as i said, started again from scratch, still got the Legacy levels, nothing else though. Got into what seemed like a friendly enough guild but then kicked within 5 minutes for discussing on General chat "Guild etiquette" (In a discussion about high membered guilds that have loads of Alts/Non Active accounts, i said i usually give a guild 2 weeks and then quit or decide to stick around and improve it...) So that wasnt the best start. But i was suprised at how many people on Tython have NEVER played this game before. Let alone another MMO. So ive spent the last 3 hours, in a group with someone, explaining to them how to add people as friends/change the hotkeys. To then as soon as id helped them, roping another newbie in who had never played MMOs before. Had no idea what WASD keys were used for, nor the Tab key, the number keys etc. She didnt know how to attack people, target people. Spent 2 and a half hours teaching her how to kill stuff without dying and i have to say. Ive now fallen back into love with this game and just because of what seems to be a loving community once again. I left just before the updated LFG, with Return to your point of origin, so im looking forward to that when i reach it i have to say. Ive always been one for fluff and stuff, so with the Cartel Coins ive picked up from subscribing i now have an adorable pet The game looks better i have to say, im glad ive given it another shot and im hoping that it wont disappoint me at higher levels

That doesnt give you the right to the names. That gives you the right to have an early access and some extra bonus stuff in game.

Im only being as rude as you were to me originally. Ive been very civil up to this point. Once again then, lets try this. What gives you the RIGHT to pick 8 names that you "like" when you arent planning to play any of them till your first 50 is complete? What about other people that might want to play a class with one of the names you currently have growing dust on a lvl1? And yes, i'd remember meeting Reaper just because of a name? Grow the hell up. Its the deeds we do in the game that define us, not the names we choose for ourselves. You know who i remember? Raaz, PonyBoyGoblin, Annekin, Jaidar, Anthony, Phatina, Xenos, Kiera. I could go on. None of them have names like "Ravage" and "Titan". But the ONE THING i remember from this game? Was being part of the FIRST RECORDED Group taking down SD-0 on Coruscant, in the first 36 Hours of early access. I barely play with any of them anymore, ive not even thought about them until this thread but thats what i remember. People that made an impact on my gameplay by being players that were polite, got together and actually accomplish something.

So they were placeholders? You just admitted that you leveled up to 50 on your first account and had ALL those names ready. Thats the definition of placeholders. Once again, its not biowares fault but yours. From what you said in the OP, you asked them whether deleting a name and then remaking the character and the name would be available. They confirmed this, which is true. The issue you have is that they have banned certain names which they are not alllowed to use contractually. Such as unoriginal names that plagiarize the SW universe. Like Bane. Or Skywalker. Or Solo. Names they are not copyrighted to use, or allow to use. Ive just deleted one of my champions with a name, just recreated another one 20 seconds later with the exact same name. Maybe if you werent so rude to the support, which by the sounds of what you have said to people in this thread, you obviously were. Someone obviously hasnt taught you any manners whatsoever. Its already been done, thought of and worked through. Wanna talk about "Cool" names? I had America for my trooper, thats right. "Captain" America. Scully was my IA. You guessed it, "Agent" Scully. I had a Character size 4 Guardian. Completely green Twi, called "Hulk". These are just a number of names with characters that were all between levels 40-50 when i stopped playing just after server merges. Your "Placeholders" were all pre level 10 And honestly, im coming from where you came from. Part of the reason i preordered was to try to get hold of names for toons. Some like the ones above that were a bit funny, one was just my first name. Another was the name ive been known through every MMO ive ever played. Then less than a year later after having made these characters, i was moved servers and had to rename them all (Minus my main one). Was i upset? Yes. Did i understand why the servers had to merge? Yes. I'd much rather a game full of people than being sat on my own in my own little server going "Oooo, Look at my pretty names". And as people have said, if you preordered this game just to preserve names. Issues man. Issues.

Im already subscribed for the year as it is haha. Yearly subscription. Its not that i havent played solely due to thinking it lacked a lot, just didnt have the time with moving out/a new job. Now got a bit more time. Im just apprehensive about going back to see what im going to find if i start from scratch.

Hey all. Title says it all but a bit more info. I started playing in the closed beta, helped test the game. Loved it etc etc. Started playing on early access, took time off work, couldnt stop playing for ages. Then i hit 50 with one account, ive never liked raiding etc so started leveling other accounts but just felt like the long slog was useless because i didnt see much coming out of the Legacy rewards/achievements. Im a huge star wars fan and like i said i love the game itself. I just felt back in the day that some of the interactivity was lacking really badly. Lack of community (Around the F2P Fiasco), no decent LFG function (Which apparently has picked up.) Ive been subscribed to the game since, i actually believe this game could be brilliant. Has it changed that much now that if i was to come back, start leveling again from the 1st character/1st level, that i would find a noticeable difference and enjoy the game more? Asking some of you, loyal and/or satisfied/unsatisfied players on your opinion of the game in its current stage?

Nice way to pull something out of the context he said it in! Lets look at the quote he said shall we? "VO costs cash no story updates to xpacs they even said no story updated when they raise the cap now its F2P meh" He quite clearly says No story updates to Xpacs which is an abbreviation for expansions. He then says "They even said no story updated when they raise the cap". He isnt just saying they wont be adding extra story on the rise of the cap. Which they never said they were doing ANYWAY. They were going to add story content later and raise cap on Makeb. Nothing to do with storyline and i havent seen anything that actually said the Cap raise on Makeb was to do with the story? He is saying that because "VO Costs cash" they wont be doing them anymore. Which is out of his arse because ive seen a number of posts from Devs/Community team saying that they will be adding more story at a later date.

Just to add to this. The event should only require completion up to getting your own starship. The reason being that the Chevin said "Those that cant travel space, need not apply" I reckon it will be more of a "Go here, meet this person, get jumped by scaled enemies on way back to ship, Go here etc etc" Hopefully with a bit more too it.

Something i hate about people saying stuff like "When you get to the end its just a grind" Literally, EVERY MMO is like this with a couple of ones not so much. The reason you notice more in a game like ToR over WoW is because we are in love with the story so it doesnt feel so much like we are playing for hours on end, doing the same stuff. Then we hit the end and people get annoyed because they realise it is just grinding. I never noticed in WoW so much among others because it was a freaking hard grind from level 1... Also. Saying that BW said no more Class story content? Where? Please link. And one more thing. Just because a game goes F2P doesnt mean that they wont include different new mechanisms. Hell, LOTR Online have been bringing out new mechanisms since they started and have a whole new Riding Combat about to be released and i reckon this game will easiely make more money F2P that LOTR.

This is probably the best post ive read in a long long time, so thanks for that. A couple of points you raise that i will debate on here. A. Why go F2P? They have "Semi" answered that, 40% of the people that quit cited Sub model for the reason. Yes, the game has far more potential than what it has going for it ATM and still DOES have the potential. I personally, after playing F2P MMOs (After i quit WoW a few years back) prefer that way. I can try out the game for a few weeks and then subscribe if i really enjoy it. Like you said, more YOUNGER people are getting into SW as the years go by and there is a lot of posts on here from parents who play this with their 10/11 year old children. Some people (Mainly younger teenagers) wont have the money to buy a subscription model game, who love star wars. F2P will cater for them but also the older players (Like myself) that can afford it and (Hopefully) will be looking forward to updates every other month or so. B. The Star Wars "Brand". I have to kind of disagree with this one. The star wars brand, will NOT be the thing that drags the people to this game (Maybe the younger generation and the SW Nerds, which i think i fall under). Yes, SW is still the biggest Sci Fi out there (Sorry ST and Stargate fans but its true) BUT a lot of the older generation (Im talking the ones who were teenagers in the late 70s when it arrived) havent moved on into the whole "Extended Universe" (Which this falls under). This game HAS to improve to a WoW Level (I still prefer ToR to WoW but i can see why many wouldnt due to the vast gulf between content available) to be able to compete for those players that arent exactly Star Wars "Fanboys" and to convince those playing in the MMO Genre to choose this game over them all. This is another reason F2P will help, a lot of those that wouldnt pay $60 dollars plus Sub to "Give the game a try" will do so now they can play for a while for free. Other than that, completely agree and thanks once again for making an intelligent post.

With the "Secret Space Project". How do we know they still arent in the planning stages? Just trying to figure suggestions for it etc. I dont know why people complain about something we have never had so it doesnt really matter. It makes it even worse when we dont even know what it IS and people are still moaning. Who the hell cares then? All that we've heard is a off topic statement saying "We've got something lined up in the future". Im enjoying the game, i trust them to not think "People will hate this, lets do it!" and i will carry on giving them my money till a stage i stop enjoying myself.

TBH, i think they are as good as every other MMO. And better than most. Every non class story still has a cutscene and many have Dark/Light choices where you can kill innocents, gain extra credits or just be really nice. (Awwwww) There will never be a "Perfect" MMO for EVERYONE xD Its impossible. For me, all that is required now, is a better Achievement page, stuff that guilds do that ACTUALLY have an impact on the server (Plus better Guild UI) and after they sort that out, extra fluff. Two of the only things i loved about WoW was the Guild Achievements page. (Killing 50000 Penguins for a pet, best guild weekend ever xD) Plus the pets/mounts dropped by FP bosses etc.

Yeah. My first runthrough with toons without it, i barely did any of the FPs. (And im a PvEr). I absolutely love flashpoints When they brought it out, i had my 48DPS. Sometimes it could take 4-5 HOURS to find a group. But loads of people are DPS so thats completely normal in my book. When i started my Trooper i went heal spec, finding groups in under 10 minutes. When i started a tank, the 10-30 FPs were usually within 10 minutes. 30+ was instant every time i tried.

Nope. I completely disagree. My first 50 was an Inquis. The storyline from the start was great. Being brought to Korriban as a slave and having to battle prejudice and stuff was great. I decided early on to just be a horrible person, i hit 50, looked back at my journey and all the people i murdered and stole off. I felt awful So ive started again from level 1 on another server. Im generally enjoying it even more now im just making decisions based on what i would do. Ive also had a look at the majority of the classes. The trooper was great, a raw recruit being dropped into the middle of a warzone and being able to decide whether to help everyone or line your own pockets, plus the push up into the middle of the volcano made me personally feel like id made a difference. I think if you just play one character solid, you do get burned out. If you switch characters every couple of days, it keeps it fresh and interesting. This is probably the only MMO ive played so far where i dont feel like im just doing the same stuff every new character.

There can always be some unexpected glitches or bugs that cause stuff to happen. Thats why you should never believe anything will be in the game until it actually is. Also, WZs being pulled a day before? I thought it was like a week or 2? If anyone rejoined purely for the WZs maybe they should go to a game actually catering for PvP gamers? This isnt it... The secret space project is just that. Secret. What happens if they say "We have 3D Space coming in december etc" and then have to push it out into later months? People get butthurt and start ranting how they are stealing our money and deceiving us. Its just easier for them not to say anything about a release day but then people start making up pointless rumours that just make everyone all annoyed and frustrated about nothing. Until i hear definitive proof from BW that stuff (HK) is going to have to be bought etc, i just ignore all the ToR Haters/F2P Haters and others that just have issues and want to ruin the game for others.

Have to agree with this. By no means is he my favorite reviewer (That goes to Yogscast for their pure idiocy) BUT he does get a fair number of Pre-releases and it gives me a chance to look at a game before i buy it. On MMOs though, i think he doesnt know what he is talking about personally. His WoW videos were never very good and stemmed from fanboyism to a certain extent. He did actually give a brilliant review to ToR on release. He also said he thinks it would switch to a F2P which would work better for BW than P2P. And is now slagging off the announcement. Fair enough, he gives decent reviews but he changes his stance everyday.

I agree with mostly everything (which i still dont see as the end of the world) But saying they catered to hardcore players? Most threads made about quitting are by these players. Im as far from hardcore as they get and love the game. And f2p actually benefits the non hardcore as most of the content is to do with fluff opposed to wzs/ops. That is what will 'save' (i don't think it needs saving) the game. Is making the game more community based llike they did with LOtR. before they then ruined it with p2w.
