  1. I'll be frank, I was looking forward to the awkward confrontation between the Knight and Kira when she finds out her (secret) husband cheated on her with a Sith Lord.
  2. This is really really simple, and something I feel could make a large amount of money. One of the iconic things in Star Wars are the Force Ghosts, like Obi-Wan in ESB, and (Jedi Knight Spoiler) in your own game. And that is only one of many, many characters. The Exile, Rajivari, the spirits on Voss... So how hard would it be to make a cosmetic Legacy ability purchasable from the Cartel Market that applies this effect to your player character? This would be a day one purchase for me, and I'm sure there are quite a few others who would snap up a nifty little emote toggle like this. I imagine it would be similar to the glowing eyes item from the first chance boxes. Ideally, it'd be a toggle such like speeders are. The item itself is little more than an emote of course. Aside from making your character look blue (or red?) and glowy, it does nothing to your combat abilities. I previously posted a similar suggestion in April of last year, when the Legacy system was first launched. I think now is a good time to take a fresh look at this, seeing how the existence of the Cartel Market has already brought us various new cosmetic enhancements.
  3. I'm not having much fun right now, but I'm staying subbed at least until F2P hits. I bought the Collector's Edition last year, and figure that I've been in deep this long, I may as well ride it out and get my max number of Cartel Coins when that happens. That way, should there be a miraculous turnaround in features and content through the F2P Micro-transaction model, I'll be set to buy back in and experience the new stuff.
  4. I'm sick of having to sit and spin in fleet spamming "LFxM y for HM z." Since no one answers, and if they do, it takes 30 minutes to an hour of this, and I generally have to resort to creative insults to garner attention. And I'm a healer. I don't want to imagine what this will be like on my DPS character. I don't care how it is implemented, so long as it is at this point.
  5. My complaints about the new stuff from what I've seen so far (Toth & Zorn, the two tanks for Explosive Conflict Story and up to Sav-rak in LI HM) is that for the droid in LI, the Tank, mDPS, rDPS, Healer combination is damn near, if not totally, impossible. I finally cleared that droid today with 2 rDPS (mercenaries). I had them stack on me (Operative Healer) and whenever the Plasma Arc came up, I moved our camp. Our mDPS that we started with left voluntarily because we couldn't come up with a solution that would work. The droid punishes melee DPS far too much, and while I don't have a problem with it if I have 2 rDPS... Aside from that fight just being unfair, I've enjoyed actually working on content. Figuring out the strategy, tuning, and refining is something I haven't really done since WoW classic. So even though all I got out of my 1.2 experiences so far is hefty repair bills, I've been having fun, if being sometimes frustrated.
  6. The only one I know of is off the collectors edition vendor. It's blue instead of that beige-gray.
  7. Lost Island and Explosive Conflict (Story Mode, anyway) are brutal. This game is moving towards a more 'hardcore' audience, I think. I also am of the opinion that if it wanted to be 'casual friendly' and 'solo friendly' it would include at least a local server LFD tool... but that's me being irritated that because I'm not big on joining random guilds and am extra picky about the people I associate with, I get punished with having to ask in fleet for an hour to get a Hard Mode group.
  8. inb4lo--- Oh wait, this isn't an unsub thread. How silly of me. inb4whiners And on that note... really hoping the bugs get hammered out soon. No one is perfect, and frankly, it could always be worse. It could have been APB.
  9. Damn. I was in the middle of soloing the Belsavis daily heroics again... only instead of stealth-cheesing them, I was just healing through them. Hope they get the rollback issue fixed soon so I can get back to taking my revenge on Augurh or whatever that guy's name is for spotting me all those times in Lights Out.
  10. This suggestion is exactly what it says on the tin. I'm an RPer and one of the things I'm doing at the moment is a Master/Padawan relationship. Something that occurred to me was, for the purposes of this RP story, my character getting killed, and returning as a Force Ghost to continue being an adviser to her Padawan, ala Obi-wan Kenobi or This would be very hard to represent in the current state of the game, but then I remember something from SWG: Elder Jedi (People who had ranks in Jedi classes before the New Game Experience patch) got a special cosmetic power that gave them the look of a Force Spirit. http://vnmedia.ign.com/screenshots/sw/95347289.jpg The linked screenshot is a picture of the Obi-wan ghost from that game. Players could get a similar look, though I can't find any good screenshots of it at the moment. A bit of vanity like this seems perfect for the Legacy system, and I am sure there is more than once Jedi/Sith RPer who would enjoy something like this.
  11. I find your abundance of foolishness disturbing.
  12. As was just touched on in the Guild Summit, the problem from beta is that where killing companions was fun, no longer having a companion to fill a role was not so fun. 'Will they really let me do this?' being a common challenge accepted by gamers, you run Doc through with a lightsaber or shoot Elara Dorn out for cowardice or... something. The reason doesn't really matter to me. Either way, you killed your Healer, and now lack someone to fill that role. This is a big problem and a customer service nightmare. To my friends and I, the solution here seems simple: If I kill Quinn, I can recruit a generic Imperial Medic to fill his role. This generic companion has no role to play AT ALL in the story, but simply exists to fill a mechanical hole left by me choking Quinn to death. This way, you could make romances with the Jedi/Sith characters FAR more potent. Once or twice in the Knight storyline, Kira Carsen can end up in mortal danger. This is very important to Jedi because it is the quintessential sadistic choice: Save the love of your life, or the lives of ten people you've never met. With something like this, you can make the choice have REAL consequences. Not just some meager 50 Dark Side points for saying 'I'd never let anything happen to you,' but call out that person when the chips come down where you're forced to choose. My suggestion takes away the mechanical disadvantage. Now, it doesn't touch on the complexity of rewriting stories so that dead companions are not mentioned/regarded as such... but this is just a thought. TL;DR: If you kill a story companion, you should be able to get a generic NPC that fills their mechanical role.
  13. This might seem like a small thing, but the way this talent works puts you in combat and aggroed by a mob when the Sleep Dart debuff wears off. Prior to putting points in Sedatives, mobs did not aggro upon losing the effects of Sleep Dart. When you take this talent, however, Sedatives adds aggro when it applies the -25%/-50% damage debuff. This translates to mobs having psychic anti-stealth powers the moment you either switch your CC or the CC runs out, often at a very inconvenient time. My suggestion is that you remove the aggro component (or whatever causes a mob to aggro the caster) from the Sedatives debuff, so that Agents no longer avoid this very useful talent in the Medicine tree. Everything in this post is also applicable to Scoundrels, as far as I am aware. As for me, I'm going to be respeccing out out Sedatives, since the loss of that debuff is worth me going unmolested while harvesting materials or sneaking by elites.
  14. "The lack of /em cross faction is easy to remedy," ClydeBaneheart explained, "Simply format your /say as if you were writing prose." The rest of the stuff on that list though... I can sort of understand why/why not. Tells would invite harassment, as would friend list. Same with cross faction global channels.
  15. Good question! Seeing as I RP a Gray Jedi, I think I can answer this. Short answer? Yes. Long answer? It depends. A Gray Jedi is a Jedi that does not follow the orthodox Jedi Code and the will of the Jedi Council. Many exhibit some knowledge of the Dark Side of the Force, though the key separation between a Gray Jedi and a Dark Jedi is that while you may see a Gray Jedi use Force Lightning, he has not fallen to the Dark Side. A Gray Jedi finds the wanton cruelty and evil of the Empire and the Sith repulsive. A good example of a Gray Jedi is Jolee Bindo. He had a wife, has no problem expressing emotions, yet still supports the Jedi and the Republic, and the Light Side in general. He takes issue with the Jedi Code's stance on emotions, and with the Council's iron clad dogma. So a Sith that takes an altruistic and kind attitude toward others, helping those less fortunate and generally displaying 'Jedi-like' traits would have a lot in common with a Gray Jedi. From a mechanical standpoint, using some D&D analogies, only characters with abnormally high wisdom scores are generally suited to the Gray Jedi path. It takes incredible worldly wisdom and no small understanding of the Force in order to use powers fueled by passion and not be drawn to the Dark Side. The Dark Side is more than just an alignment. It makes you into something else. See Yuthura Ban and Anakin Skywalker. Both had good intentions when they started using the Dark Side, but the nature of the Dark Side can corrupt even the most altruistic spirit. Things to remember are that the Dark Side and the Light Side are real things. The reason Sith often devolve into murderous psychopaths is the corrupting influence of the Dark Side. So, there's nothing stopping you from calling yourself a Gray Jedi if you rolled up say a Sith Sorcerer that was Light Side aligned. ICly, many Imperials should be suspect of you, and most 'Gray Jedi' on the Republic side would likely brand you a traitor. For further information and a more accurate account (probably), take a look at the Wookieepedia entry for Gray Jedi.
  16. Being a Jedi isn't about the Jedi Council, or their inflexible dogma on what being a Jedi is supposed to be. It's not about being more or less than what you were before you were trained and given a lightsaber. Being a Jedi doesn't make you 'better' or 'worse' than anyone else in the galaxy. Being a Jedi gives you a responsibility. The Force is a powerful gift. The Sith see this gift as a tool to oppress and gain personal power. The Jedi use this gift to protect those without it. We have a duty to use our power to do the right thing and protect those weaker than ourselves, not oppress and exploit them. Unlike the Council though, I see little point in denying my humanity. I feel love, and anger, and many other emotions on a daily basis. I love my wife, I mourn the dead, I feel anger toward the Sith, and elation in triumphant victory. The Jedi Council would frown on this, because to them, "There is no emotion, there is Peace." I still have peace though. My emotions do not rule me. For I am a Jedi, and I have a responsibility. When darkness encroaches, I am the light. When you are under siege, I am the wall. When you are oppressed, I am the promise of freedom. It is my responsibility to defend not just the Republic, but all species. That is what being a Jedi means to me. Responsibility. --Brennan Southron, Ven Zallow
  17. I play on Ven Zallow (RP-PVP), and while exploring Voss, I see plenty of ripe targets for ganking (I'm a level 50 Jedi Guardian who has spent a good portion of his play time PvPing). However, I don't. In fact, if someone has frozen in terror of the impending gank that will never come, I generally approach and say hello. I keep in character the entire time, and when the inevitable comment of 'most people just attack me and kill me' comes, I state, "It is not the Jedi way to seek violence (even against a Sith)." Sure, people with the Legacy name "Is'a'muffin" probably will never RP, and don't much care for it in the first place, but I feel that when I act like a civil, in character Jedi who at least follows the Jedi Code where violence is concerned, I'm doing my part to foster a community in a place that is normally feared and loathed by RPers. Shameless plug: If you're an RPer on Ven Zallow, and see Brennan running around, give me a shout. I love meeting new people. Furthermore, if you are being killed repeatedly by someone with a nonsense name, give me a shout as well, and I'll see what I can do about putting the fear of God in them in-character.
  18. I hate the asymtote between 49 and 50, where you're uber in the 10-49 bracket, and then suddenly suck when you hit 50. My solution would be adding expertise Armoring/Enhancements to the PvP vendor for pure WZ commendations. They're not as good as the Centurion PVP epics, but can make orange gear suitable expertise gear until you can get Centurion/Champion epics. Should help with people getting their **** pushed in by overgeared 50s. But since when have sensible things ever been done in PVP?
  19. I just hit 50 today. I started playing with RL friends, keeping my character in step with them since we all RP together. Unfortunately, I have an itch to do things at weird times and this is not conducive to team play. After I split from them (around level 35), I was level 50 by the end of the week. So some of us are playing with friends who like to enjoy the scenery, and don't PVP all day every day.
  20. Everyone else already said it, but here's a diagram for you picture learners Republic Ship I x x I L C R I x x I Imperial Ship L, C, and R are your left, right, and center guns. X's are speeders that go to the center of the map. I's are speeders that only spawn when you control an L or an R, and go to their respective turret. #eatsthetroll
  21. Both sides have about an even chance of winning a warzone all other things assumed equal. Teamwork, however, heavily skews your chances. A group of pugs that listens to one or two voices coordinating the offense and defense will win every time vs a team of mindless pugs. My proof comes from going X-0 for the last 50% of my bar before hitting 50. Sure, I was often at the top of the lists because of my gear and the fact that I was partnered up with a Sage buddy who healed my *** (teamwork). But what won us matches was the fact that in huttball, we passed, pulled, lept, and focus fired (teamwork), and in Alderaan, we split our team, and called out incoming for our mobile force (teamwork) while one or two babysat the points to avoid letting clever ninjas feel smug (also teamwork). And for Voidstar? Well... hey, was someone setting the bomb? Everyone sit below the spawn point after focus firing the team down, and stun/mezz/snare anything that comes out (teamwork, smart play). The trend in these matches was to have a bunch of Republic with gold medals on the scoreboard at the end, and a bunch of bronze Imperials. TEAMWORK wins warzones more than anything else. Aside: All that being said, now that I'm in the 50 bracket, I feel like I'm chewing glass again. Stupid PvP gear grind.
  22. Passing, scoring, killing the carrier, killing bad guys around the carrier, healing the carrier, etc, should all give points. Passing and scoring should be 'equal.' Though, to prevent farming, you can't get points for passing constantly. Say, 15 second cooldown on the points? Or more if someone else can get better math involved. That way passback fakeouts and such can still be useful. They need to encourage teamwork, because just as often as I get a premade that works as a group and passes with some sort of coordination, I get a gaggle of pubs that think they're all heroes and can solo the team themselves, and then die, while the other team capitalizes on our noobs.
  23. Lets be cautious about blaming BioWare for this. Considering this is a licensed Star Wars IP? Any decision to nix same-sex couples would have come from Lucas Arts. BW has championed the cause in the past, and as long as EA gets paid, you can put out whatever for them. LA has a history of sticking to the conservative side of the line with the IP. I don't really fault them for it, being a money-making venture. Safe bets are better than risks. Especially with something as big as Star Wars. The view is, however, outdated. At any rate, I doubt we'll see much from the devs about projections, simply because an errant phrase can get misinterpreted and twisted by the community, and backdraft on BioWare a few weeks/months down the road.
  24. Maybe through the Legacy system? I'm for this simply because one of my characters is leveling with four other friends. So we get a LOT of social points on him. However, the character I want social points for is not part of this party.
  25. In beta, there was something cathartic about playing my chaotic evil Imperial Agent, partnered up with Kalyio. "Lie, murder, and steal my way across the galaxy," is the reason she gave Kalyio. Of course, right now, I'm playing a Jedi Knight and a Trooper. The Knight is a traditional Jedi, though his faith in the orthodox Jedi way is shaken, and the Trooper is a patriot. She has a perfectly neutral alignment.
