spots where you can get easily baited into knockbacks are more tolerable when you 1) might actually be able to leap, intercede, or quickly get pulled back up and/or 2) the baiters are forced to clump up really hard to sit in these spots, leaving them susceptible to all the things that come with clumping up think orbital station catwalks the high ground on this new map is so large and so high up that neither of these applies also the middle room on the bottom is irredeemable - obnoxiously small for the scale of this game and its camera, and the two pillars just make following what is going on in there even more awful

They see the enemy coming, get farmed by people who can actually play, and then go back to running groups in warzones out of shame. Is this a hack or a bug?

epeen fights don't interest me, I just want people to treat other people's time like time they would their own - as if it has value that means more of stuff like dueling tournaments and less of the stuff people do because they value their own amusement or elo or whatever above everyone else so they throw games or hack or wintrade and so on and so forth there is a persistent and obviously ridiculous meme that everything goes because "it's just a game" or "swtor is dead" so you're just free to trample on everyone else as long as you're getting your kicks, whatever they may be. behaving in this manner the second you get off the internet comes across as sociopathic

the knocks off the top and subsequent time spent getting back up gets most of the attention, probably deservedly but the most heinous feature of this map is definitely that little room inside the middle structure. the LOS occupies an absurd % of the total area, it's so small as to make playing in there infuriating (especially on certain specs), and it's also so small that seeing anything with how the camera works is a nightmare it badly needs to be redone - at the very least it should be made vastly larger, at least hollowing out the structure it's set inside of (if they insist on it existing at all)

By being active and pulling a lot of weight. I had 8 dps golds in solo ranked last season, without win trading or queue syncing. I had terrible days, mediocre days, and good days like everyone else. But if you, ON AVERAGE, are a major positive impact on your teams you will climb. Cheaters are a separate issue. You can't bring up the existence of cheaters as evidence that ELO doesn't function for *anyone*. And yes, in many cases who is legit and who is not is well established. And I can certainly know that I'm not cheating. Like I said, this is all probabilistic. If two players each have 30 games played and a rating difference of 200, this is easily explained by RNG or class balance. The odds between which is the better player is probably like 52/48 - basically 50/50. But the odds that Jedija, who easily accumulates t1 or 2K+ characters in both solo and team ranked, is better than some guy who is stuck at 1400 on all his characters every season even after playing hundreds or thousands of games is basically 99%.

Everyone making these threads every season is far too emotionally invested in each individual game. It's been a week. Relax. If you're a strong player you WILL climb if you keep playing. ELO *obviously* functions - the known top players rack up golds every season. This board just doesn't understand that ELO is probabilistic. Is it perfect? Obviously not. Are top 3s a meme? Yes. Can you conclude much of anything based on small differences in rating over small numbers of games without context? No. But you absolutely can make conclusions based off large ELO differences, coming from large numbers of games/characters, and seasons. Jedija (or insert whatever top player you want here) accumulates rating quickly and reliably because he's active and better than you. Again, rating is probabilistic. Relax and keep queuing. I look forward to all the usual red herrings and excuses in reply to this post. Decay would be really, really nice for exactly the reasons you've outlined here. Also just more competitive games. Good players on low rated alts, because they haven't played them enough to get ELO yet, really **** with matchmaking until they start to accumulate some rating to reflect their impact.

it's not even a matter of being good, solo ranked is such a cluster most of the time that you'll never manage it if you don't believe me, do dummy parses on various specs with t1 vs t2 alacrity - the difference is very small. the second you step away from a dummy or a boss the latter is going to do less damage. for example, you can do 10K in carnage on a dummy with like 400 alacrity. the highest parses are 10.2K (they will be running at least ~1400). that higher alac value WILL be a dps loss in pvp in almost every circumstance. high alacrity can have value, like in hard swap, but better dps is not a reality

Group ranked is an exception, potentially anyway, as there's much less *********** around - the teams just kind of smash into each other usually and you can actually sort of do things "on cooldown." And hardswap is about timely mezzes, hardstuns, and big hitters - not raw dps. Solo ranked on the other hand... With raw dps? It almost certainly doesn't. Most pvp, most of the time is just too much of a cluster**** to get value out of it. Yes Also, remember that the more alacrity you run the more stat you waste in those suboptimal periods. If you're running 1860 you are throwing away a *lot* of damage

uptime and rotational perfection in solo ranked is so bad (doesn't matter how good you are) that running 1860 alacrity as madness is gonna be a dps loss don't bother unless you're into blowing more than a thousand of your stat pool for like 4 extra seconds off your stuns and madness is decent in solo ranked if you're good enough at running away and dying slowly, people will simply stop focusing you first for the most part (unless they're forced to by the class comps) p.s. speed surge is a seriously underrated utility for solo ranked as sorc dps

there are a couple pub abilities that pull you when they're not supposed to pull at all, including out of casts, through whitebar, and iirc barrier as well one is definitely focused burst, not sure if it's only concentration, focus, or both specs I think blade blitz or whatever that ability is called these days sometimes does it as well, not sure which specs though I have no idea under what circumstances these pull effects happen, versus what circumstances they don't. But it's definitely a thing and has been for a long time

what's really odd about this is that I, along with a few others in the game and stream where it was viewable, saw this for the first time a few days BEFORE the patch it's tempting to wonder if it was caused by some preloaded code, changes, or something to that effect because several people who combine to have played thousands and thousands of solo ranked games had never seen it, which makes it hard to imagine it isn't at all related to the new matchmaking and other SR changes really not understanding this bug at all and also really hoping people don't figure out how to make it happen on purpose
