COMMENTARY
A self-analysis of my parse...
The Jedi Sage ability Turbulence automatically crits on targets affected by the Weaken Mind DoT. It is this automatic-crit ability that generates the bulk of DPS for Telekinetic Sages. Unfortunately while parsing, Weaken Mind wore off immediately prior to Turbulence being cast on two separate occasions, and two of my Turbulences ended up being non-crits as a result.
With my current gear and skills, my average damage per hit of Turbulence is typically between 9000 and 9050 when every Turbulence crits. In this parse it was only 8767 which is 233 points below the bottom end of my typical range. I cannot say if this would have been enough to break through the 3500 DPS mark (a personal goal of mine) as I haven’t done the math, but I suspect it would be close. I feel with a little luck (i.e. crit’ing a few extra times) and reasonable APM (perhaps 39+; mine was 38.21), 3500 DPS is not an unrealistic number with this gear and skill setup. Overall, this was an acceptable parse, but not perfect.
Perhaps it may be noteworthy that I had 2% alacrity for this parse. I had no alacrity on my gear but did receive 2% from Force Gift (Seer skill tree; +1% alacrity per point, up to two points). Also, based on personal preference I have just enough crit on my gear, in addition to two points in Penetrating Light (Seer skill tree; +1% Force crit per point, up to three points), to maintain as close to 25% critical chance as possible without being under 25%. I personally like the idea of theoretically having one in four attacks crit, but admit that for the purposes of parsing, replacing at least some of the crit on my gear with power may aid in breaking through 3500 DPS. (In total my gear had 172 crit rating for this parse.) I also have the Force Master 4-piece set bonus.
