  1. did you happen to get a new helmet? Putting on a facemask or a full-face helmet can change how your character sounds. Just in case it's something easily fixed...
  2. Happy Holidays! (and good luck!) http://www.swtor.com/user/ce/d7xlw
  3. You can have up to 6 quickbars enabled. You need to go into the Interface Editor and enable the extra quickbars and then apply the new UI for them to show up.
  4. How adventurous are you? There is a "client_settings.ini" file in your AppData\Local|SWTOR\swtor\settings folder. If you delete it, that should let the game startup in its default state. Alternatively, you can edit the file and enter the correct settings. You can look for the Height and Width settings. Also check the NativeHeight and NativeWidth settings to make sure they are appropriate for your computer (or the same as the height/width).
  5. My only loss to Vaylin was when I got into range of her knockback ability and she tossed me off the platform. So my advice is to keep away from the edge and keep your back toward something that will stop you from flying off into space.
  6. I'm not sure if this helps, but I noticed that one item I bought from the CM and claimed (but never opened) was ONLY visible to the character that actually claimed it. I kind of panicked when I couldn't find it on any of my characters until I logged back onto that one toon. That'll teach me to claim an item and then not play the game for a couple of weeks. Maybe you'll find it if you look on your different characters.
  7. If your goal is to level through the story fast, then just do the story missions on each planet and then move on to the next planet. Using XP boosts and XP gear if you have it, you should easily keep yourself leveling along with the content, if not keep yourself level capped for the worlds you're questing on. If your goal is to get to max level as fast as possible, then do the story missions on every planet so you can unlock the next planet and move on. And also, check the Exploration Quests to see if they're appropriate for your level. If they're yellow or orange, do them for the extra XP. If they're green or gray, probably skip them because they'd take more time to do than the XP reward is worth.
  8. It seems like nearly all of my crates have 3 items. I get an orange item, a companion gift and a piece of green junk. And one time, I got a purple crafting recipe (dualsaber artifice plan) that was legacy bound.
  9. While I did enjoy the stories of KoTFE and KoTET, I also really miss my characters each having their own special stories. I kind of hate it when all of my characters are forced to play through the same stories. Especially when that same story applies to both factions.
  10. I think you're overlooking the fact that X is actually "toggle throttle" not "zero throttle." At least that's the default, iirc.
  11. This thread is not entertaining, therefore it is nothing. Just like 99.999999999% of what the OP posts. Nothing to see here. Move along. Move along...
  12. This was covered in "The History of the World, Part 1." They shove a living snake up your ... Oh, that was ancient Rome... NVM.
  13. The current XP gain per GS mission has been toned down from what it was, but you can still level moderately fast. I started a level 1 character on the PTS, and I'm still leveling well. I don't remember exactly, but my experience has been something like: 2 GS missions to reach level 2, 3 GS missions to reach level 3, 5 GS missions to reach level 4. The XP you gain depends on whether you win or lose, so that will also factor in. And the percentage of XP per GS mission compared to the XP required to level drops as you level up, making it take longer. This is obvious, but what's not obvious yet is exactly what the relationship is and whether there will come a point where the initial "this is a great way to level up fast" idea will turn into a "this is a ridiculously slow way to earn XP." And I can't test any of the inbetween levels on the PTS because my characters are either at 55 or I'd have to create level 1 toons. I can tell you that the XP you earn at 55 doesn't help you level up at all, in cast you were wondering.
  14. I think you should load up the PTS and take a look at the new space content. You might be surprised at how enjoyable the PvP is, because it doesn't feel like the standard ground PvP at all. There are a lot of people who say that they don't like PvP that are enjoying GS. You might too. And if you don't like it, you'll also see how making PvE versions of the maps isn't really feasible.
  15. Just because it uses an x86 based CPU does not mean that programming for it would be anything like programming for an x86 PC. When you write programs, there are basically 2 ways to code. You can write code that talks directly to the hardware, or you can write code that talks to the operating system that sits between the hardware and your program. Neither of these thing would be an option for porting SWTOR to the PS4. If the SWTOR engine was coded to talk directly to the hardware, it would be too hardware-bound to run on the wide range of PC's that people have. It would be tied strongly to a specific CPU, memory controller, RAM setup, GPU, etc. So while you could get away with a hardware coded program on a console, it's virtually impossible to make a complex game viable on PC's coding it this way. When you write program code for an Operating System, your program become infinitely more portable because your program tells the OS what it needs and the OS talks to the hardware and drivers to make it happen. This is why you need to keep your system drivers, DirectX drivers, and the OS up to date. Because when they fall too far behind, then the OS won't understand how to make the hardware do what the game/program is asking it to do. The problem with writing code to the OS, is that a PS4 doesn't run Windows or any other PC operating system. It runs it's own customized OS - by Sony. It doesn't have WHQL ATI drivers for the GPU. It doesn't have DirectX. It doesn't have a Windows API. It doesn't have anything that the SWTOR engine knows how to talk to. In the end, "porting SWTOR to the PS4" really means "writing an entirely new SWTOR engine from the ground up to run on the PS4" or "researching all the available MMO engines for the PS4 to see what engine comes the closest to the current SWTOR engine and then porting all the art assets, sound assets, AI scripts, tool widgets, and other misc game parts to that new engine for the PS4." Unless there is a version of the Hero engine for the PS4 that is really close to the current state of the SWTOR engine and/or unless someone wants to throw a whole lot of time and money at getting a PC MMORPG to run on the PS4, it's not likely to happen. The technical hurdles are just too great to make it feasible. Especially now that it's an F2P game without a "guaranteed" income from subscriptions. Not to mention the part where there would inevitably be some sort of fee the player would have to pay in order to get access to the Playstation Network to get the game connected to the servers.
  16. Well, if you want the full details of the plan, it looks like: 1) Spend real money to buy Cartel Coins. 2) Spend CC on the latest Cartel Packs. 3) Search the GTN for said packs and see what price people are selling them for. 4) Sell your cartel packs for 1 credit lower than the lowest price. 5) Profit. And if you want to take greater risk, you can open up the cartel packs you buy and sell the items individually. Most of the time, you'll lose money over just selling the pack unopened, but occasionally you will get a rare and/or desirable item that you can sell for a lot more than an unopened pack. So there really isn't much of a strategy. Or not a complex one.
  17. The only drawback to this suggestion is that it doesn't get Quinn off my ship or off the bridge. There needs to be a way to at least stuff him in a closet that never gets opened.
  18. To address the "previewing items" thought... You can view the contents of a cartel pack without actually taking them (or all of them) into your inventory. However, "previewing" counts as "opening" and binds the pack to you/your character and makes it non-transferable and non-sellable. So there's no reason to worry that people are taking out the good stuff or only selling the packs with bad stuff. Once someone peeks inside a cartel pack, those items are theirs. At least until the mandatory binding time expires.
  19. You know why Bioware does these random giveaways? For 2 reasons. 1) They love to see the folks who win something be genuinely appreciative of the gift they received. 2) They love to laugh at all the entitled people complain about how the world conspires against them so they should be given stuff for free to make up for it. I think you should talk to the lottery people. I'm sure you could convince them that it isn't fair to make you pick 5 random numbers to try to win the jackpot when everyone else is trying to pick the same 5 numbers. They should just take everyone else's money and give you the jackpot, gratis. *rolls eyes*
  20. I don't think it's a change. I think it's just a random glitch/bug in the GTN mail system. Normally, I get emails about "X item didn't sell for Y credits" or "<Name> bought your X item for Y credits." But occasionally, I get a generic mail message about "Someone bought an item for some amount of money." And it's been that way for quite a long time.
  21. Although it's a pain, if you get a boss that spawns in a bad place, or a boss that you don't want to fight, you can always reset the bounty quest. You'll have to start over from the "Talk to the client" phase, but you will probably get a new spawn location and a new boss. (At least the 2 times I reset the quest, I got new bosses at new locations.)
  22. He probably doesn't, now. The last time this tread was touched was back in May. Not sure this thread needed to be revived.
  23. There never was and never will be a level boost terminal on the live servers. There was one on the PTS during a previous phase of content testing, but it is not there now. If you don't have a max level character on the PTS or available to copy to the PTS, there is no easy way to get a character to 55 on the PTS.
  24. There's a sticky thread in the PTS forum that has the available info.
