  1. I've not received a code either. Been opted in forever, double checked to be sure when I watched the live stream. I've checked every folder in email. Thanks for looking into it. EDIT: After some people have mentioned the "normal monthly newsletter" I realize that I havn't received a SWTOR newsletter in some time now. I didn't miss them, just one less thing to delete in my inbox. ( I check the website regularly so I've never read the newsletter anyway.) I wonder if I somehow got off the list while the check box stayed checked. And, for the record, I didn't uncheck and re-check the opt in when checked my account settings before, I just checked that the check box was checked. PS- Typing that last sentence made me smile. EDIT 2: POSSIBLE SOLUTION: I was on dulfy.net checking for more info here http://dulfy.net/2016/02/18/swtor-february-subscriber-reward-email-today/ and in the comments someone posted that they didn't receive the email but after searching their email (like typing in a search box) for SWTOR it brought up the appropriate email. I tried this and lo-and-behold I DID receive the email! (And all of the previously unseen newsletters too- going back to July 2014) I don't know if this a SWTOR issue (maybe a change in newsletter format) or an email provider issue ( I use gmail.com) but something fishies going on. But I did get my email so I'm going to go use my code now. I hope this helped.
  2. You're right on alot of this. I would support Bioware trying to fix it's ranked pvp problems, however the OP wants a server merger because he (and many others) believe that it'd decrease queue times and increase the number of teams they'll face. And all of that will be true for about 2 weeks and then we'd be right back where we are now if not worse off. Server merger is not the answer. Cross-server queueing might help, I would rather do a cross-server tournament though. Between registered teams ( I like that idea), win/loss would affect the server's rating not individual. That should unite a servers pvp community a little bit and let the better / bored ranked teams challenge other ranked teams from different servers. Anyway, there're alot of things that could be done to make pvp good in this game, but server mergers ain't one.
  3. 1) You're right 130 is low, I low-balling because I can't remember an exact number, however.... 2) it's not nearly the same as 16 people on a Tuesday night after a patch. Which is what the pops were like before the first merger. And... 3) there usually are 2 instances. When I see less than 100 I check, and find out that I'm in a second instance. Usually only evenings that I notice but stll frequent enough to be usual.
  4. 130 + people on fleet almost every time I log in. Morning before work sometimes as low 65. Again, the problem isn't with the amount of players, it's with the amount of players doing Ranked Warzones. P.S. If that's to low of a server population try one that's got a 'heavy' status, or 'standard' and see if that fixed the issue with ranked on those servers. My guess is that it didn't because the problem is with ranked pvp. Edit: I'm not saying that there's not a problem. I agree that there is a "HUGE extremly noticeable problem" with rated pvp. But not with server population.
  5. Bioware please DO NOT merge Pot5. Just because noone does ranked arenas anymore doesn't mean that there is a problem with server population. Both fleets are almost always full, prime time usually has 2 instances. Regular Warzone pops are always less than 10 minutes (usually instant in my experience) Flashpoint pops are almost always instant (for tactical FPs) My dps toons do have extremly long wait times for other content (Ops, non-tact FPs) but that's to be expected as everyone rolls dps. Fix Ranked Warzones, please, but merging servers isn't the answer. The population is fine, ranked are not. To the players who want a merger to whatever server: you have the option to transfer you toon(s). If it's that much of a deal breaker communicate with the other 10 players who do ranked and orginize an exodus. Don' want to pay for a transfer? Reroll, you can have a new 55 in less than 3 weeks without trying to hard. Worst case scenario is that you'll find out that ranked are pretty bad everywhere (and hopefully realize that a merger won't help), or maybe you'll get lucky and find that fabled high-population, polite and helpful ranked community and be happy in your new home. (yeah, that probably won't happen, because ranked is dying everywhere) Sorry for the sarcasm (not really) but as a someone who's been through 2 forced transfers already (Hedarr Soongh -> The Fatman -> Pof5) I don't want to lose all of my names again (I'm still not over the name thing) just so that you can find out that the problem is intrinsic to how Bioware has implemented Ranked Arenas and NOT with server population.
  6. - Being able to attach my unlocked emotes to NPCs/Comps. - Being able to 'path' my NPCs/Comps. Maybe place waypoints on hooks or something. - Being able to have my NPCs/Comps actually sit in chairs. It doesn't seem like I would be able to place a chair and then place an NPC on the same hook to sit in the chair. I would love to have a 'secretary' sitting at a desk in the entrance room or Havoc Squad sitting at a mission breifing table.
  7. I really like this idea too! I think that if you let heals on the crystal holder cost your team points (say 10 points per heal, so any heals less than 10% of the crystal holder's health is a waste of points unless they're almost dead anyway) I bet you'd only see a couple 'big heals' and rarely. You could also require the teams to pick up the crystal at neutral spawn points around the map but not let the timer start (so no points and no damage) until the crystal carrier is holding the crystal at an 'alter' in the center of a big open area in the middle of the map- or you could start the timer at pickup but no damage or points unless it's at this center, very exposed position. If you do it this way you could consider giving each team their own crystal but only 1 alter. Both teams could collect points at the same time, in the middle of a s@!% storm. If one team is dominating the alter area, their opponents could concievably control their (the dominating teams) crystal spawn point and still deny them points. That could work even if there is only one crystal also. It should be difficult for one team to control 2 equally accessable locations. Equally accessable by both teams. Anyway, if you do a WZ like this please let the damage be dodgeable / shieldable so that main tanks can do more- however this might mean that if one side doesn't have a tank and the other side does the team without a tank might not be able to compete- soooo....... maybe not. nvm Anyhows, I like this idea.
  8. Not to be mean, but I wanted to point out some fallacies in your reasoning. Personally I agree with you, 'games' by definition are meant to be enjoyed and refreshing like any other form of recreation. However, what a person enjoys doing is very subjective. For example; one player might enjoy spending hours tracking down an elusive Datacron that gives relatively little stat increase, while another player might get more enjoyment out of the tunnel space game which gives even less in-game incentive. Each of these players has assigned a 'value' (and not necessarily a monetary one) to the parts of the game they play, or they wouldn't be wasting their time doing it. Also I'll assume you're a subscriber (since you're posting here ) and so have measured this game in monetary value. ie: SWTOR is 'worth' $15 a month. Sure it can be measured in other things, but it can also be measured in "value" as you call it. I disagree with you here. A game remains a game regardless of whether or not you value it as such. Let's take something besides a game as an example. I'm sitting in a chair. This chair is very comfortable, it takes the pressure and weight off of my legs and feet allowing me to stay in one static location for long periods of time without discomfort or injury. This chair cost me money. Does this mean that it is no longer a chair? Just because the person or persons who designed and built the chair measured it's worth to them as a financial gain instead of comfort? Does that change the purpose of the chair or what the chair will ultimately be used for? The answer, of course, is a resounding "No. It does not." First, "Reality" is not "subjective." Reality is an objective truth that does not change regardless of how someone perceives it. This is the whole "If a tree (the object) fall in the woods and a person (the subject) isn't around to hear (perceive) it, does it make a sound?" The answer is that it does. (Reality. ) I'm going to assume that you meant a shift in perception. So I'm going to apologize for harping on this minor word usage issue, but if a person allows for reality itself to be subjective then that person is forcing reality to never be knowable, because fundamental rules (like gravity) would be changeable based on how people chose to perceive them. Next, I'm not sure that you understand the purpose of businesses. A regular business or corporation is supposed to make money (profits.) They create those profits by doing whatever it is they're in the business of doing. (Some are service businesses like cleaning services, or manufacturing which is self-explainatory, as are transportation businesses and retail, etc.) They provide valuable products and services that they wouldn't be able to continue providing if they weren't making a profit. That's because it takes an initial amount of money (an investment) to make the first whatever. I'm not sure what game you're referring to in your example but let's use it. Atari knew they were making a game. It was taking longer or costing more money than they planned on, probably both as the first results in the second. So now they're in a situation where if they finish the game how they want to they'll end up losing x amount of money, in which case they have debts to pay instead of profits to use building another game, this means that a different game that has been going along fine has to be axed to pay for the failed game or the studio that made the failed game gets laid off, or some other unpleasantness- business wise. Or, they can cancel the game. Denying us the players from experiencing it all and losing their entire investment with likely the same results as above. However, if a game is close to release but still requiring more money to polish it (read: remove bugs) they might decide to spend a little more money to get it out to the customers and make back their investment or as much of it as they can. The fallacy here is that the company deliberately created an inferior game in order to make more money. That makes no sense what-so-ever; however, they were more interested in making a meh game for profit than in making an absolutely omg amazing game at a loss. That still doesn't change the fact that they created a game. TOEE (or whatever) was still a game meant to be played and enjoyed even if it was done very poorly. I disagree again. Valuing things against other things (in a virtual world or the real world) allows us to determine their relative importance to us. Let me give you a real world example. I typically work all day Fridays and all day Saturdays. One of my jobs is serving in a restaurant so those are my 'money days' my highest profit per hour. And by "all day" I mean that I leave for work at 9AM and usually get home around 11PM sometimes without a break- I don't mind because, as I said 'MONEY!, YAY!' Anyway, this Sunday I planned on build my new computer; however, yesterday I found out that there is going to be another ESO beta this weekend, also 'YAY!' because I'd love to tryout their World PVP before launch. But I have a limited amount of time because Sunday is my day to catch up on dishes/laundry/vacuuming/cleaning the toilets etc. So I have some decisions to make. Factors to consider: - I'm not sure how long building my rig is going to take. I've never built one completely from scratch before. - I hate living in a 'dirty' house so I really need to spend those 3-4 hours cleaning on Sunday. - I will probably buy ESO and play for at least a month regardless of how beta goes because I have a friend who's going to want to play when it goes live. - I could get someone to work for me Saturday night but that would end up costing me between $150 and $250. - My friends know that Sunday is my 'free' day to hang out if they want to, so I might get a call to go out or something. What I'll likely do is work just like I planned. I'll wake up a little bit early on Sunday and get my chores done before lunch. I'll build my pc after lunch and any time I have left that night will be on ESO beta. If a friend calls I'll go out for lunch so I can get back sooner (supper plans usually lead to several hours long gaming sessions ) This effectively pushes ESO off of the list. I wouldn't be able to prioritize my time at all without assigning 'value' to the things I have/want to do. Now, you could infer from this that I 'value' money over maintaining my friendships and you'd be wrong. However I do value having food/shelter/clothing over 'hanging out'. I also value what I call 'active recreation' over 'conversational recreation'. Which basically means I'd rather 'do' something than 'hang out'. Unfortunately 'doing' things requires money which requires that I sacrifice unproductive time(I know, another evil business word) for time spent working to earn an income. I'd hate to be the one to break this to you, but that's how all thinking creatures do things. Business people are simply mimicking a system found in nature to direct their limited resources. Animals eat and reproduce based on a priority system. If I'm hungry I'd rather go find some food instead of the other thing; conversely if I'm ***** I'd rather do the other thing instead of eating. What if I'm both?, or neither? well there's a sliding scale of what I'd rather do and while I don't ever evaluate it rationally I always do thing higher on the priority list, and I know because that's thing I decided to do at that moment. Every decision you make uses what you call the 'business way of thinking'. Just because you don't use money as your criteria doesn't mean you're not using the same process. That's a little more complicated because now we have to discuss ownership and property rights. Not going to go into it but... Do "handicapped individuals" belong to the state? If 'no' then the state has no right to kill them. If 'yes' then your society has more things wrong with it than "business thinking." And, by-the-way, that is how states (A.K.A. governments) think because they are a type of corporation, which is why they should never 'own' their people. The people should always hold the power over the states. Anyway, I apologize if this seemed overly critical but I felt I needed to correct some erroneous concepts you seem to hold. EDIT: To the OP. I'd suggest running dailies because you can spend the credits on more than mods, however If you get a little bored go ahead and get you main stat, endurance and presence datacrons because they do help a little and because the stat boost isn't tied to gear, so you'll never have to reacquire it.
  9. It's a Legacy unlock. I believe you unlock a race by completing chapter 3 with it (but might be hitting level 50) check your Legacy menu. You can purchase the unlock in your Legacy menu for 1.5 million I believe or from the Cartel Market. Once they're unlocked some of the races options only show up in the character creation menu (I believe Cyborg is one) and some you have to choose imperial / republic version of that race (Twi'lek might be in this category which is why you might see it as a different race in the character creation vendor.)
  10. This is what I did with my latest character, I started using the orange gear as soon as i landed on DK. I would collect the Planetary Commendations until I had almost 100 (100 Planetary Comms is the cap you can store) then I would take a trip to the fleet and find the highest level Mods that I could use at whatever level I was at. I always took the Comms as a quest reward unless there was an orange piece or some other gear that I HAD to have, but if I found a random piece of gear that was better than what I had on (the orange mod-able gear) then I would switch it out until I upgraded my orange gear again. That worked great for me, just make sure that you're as close to 100 Planetary Comms as possible when you hit level 50 so you can get as many Makeb level Mods as possible. I think you can fill about half of you gear with 100 comms so you should be good to start doing story mode operations at 50, and then you're into end game leveling / gear grinding. Also, I'd recommend alternating the gear you put the latest Mods into. For example: let's say that the first set of 100 comms upgrades your main hand, chest, gloves and bracers; then the next time you upgrade you should probably do your off hand, legs, boots, belt and helmet. Anyway, I hope that helps, it works for me. P.S. If you have extra credits you want to spend you can find player crafted Mods on the GTN sometimes that are really cheap and better than what you can spend comms on. Of course sometimes you can't find the one's you need anywhere, but if you're willing to spend credits on them check the GTN before you spend your comms. EDIT: Another thought- if you're having trouble defeating enemies that are at your level or below then you might want to upgrade your gear even if you're not near the 100 comms limit. Kind of an 'Upgrade as Needed' thing.
  11. looks like the rakata set. i don't think that there is a way to get the set but there is a similar one on the reputation vendor at section x on republic side. you may have to grind up your reputation but it should be adaptable gear so any class can wear it. hope it helps.
  12. An Alt is an alternate character, as opposed to a "Main" character. (You may have seen the word Main thrown around in the same context.) Your Main is, well, you main character, the one you do most stuff on, enjoy playing the most, do new content on first, etc. You Alt would be just another character you have that is not your Main. In some cases an Alt character can end up becoming a Main. For example my Vanguard was an Alt and my Shadow was my main. However, since my Shadow was an Infiltration spec'd (and I liked it that way) and my Vanguard was tank spec'd AND my guild needed a tank for raids, my alt began outpacing my main in gear and play time. Anyways sorry for rambling a little, hope that clears things up a bit. EDIT: or what he said ^^ (did it really take me more than 8 mins to type that? must be getting late)
  13. Just want to jump in here and let the OP know that playing an Assassin can be extremely fun. My first toon was an Infiltration Shadow ( Republic Mirror) and they are still competitive (although they do need some attention, it's not quite as bad as it seems). The burst spec doesn't fit most peoples play style (hence the hate) and the other spec is a little plain and doesn't really shine (I think they intended for this to be the spec for anyone who HAD to have a double-bladed lightsaber but lacked the skill to tank or master Infiltration -Darkness for 'sins?- ) just kidding! don't kill me!- But seriously, you'll do fine as long as you take the time to learn you spec as you level up. Realize that it's not for everyone and there's no shame in that. But most of all ignore the people who hate the class or don't play it, they usually don't know better than those that are playing 'sins regularly. Listen to them, try to solo all you heroics (got spanked a lot but it taught me how to stealth and burst **** down real good)
  14. My first toons were a Vanguard and a Shadow that I leveled at the same time. Because I was brand new (and had been waiting years for the game to release) repeating content that close wasn't a big deal. The only trouble I had was that I was leveling both as tanks and towards the end of Act 1 boss fights were becoming very drawn out affairs. So I switched my Shadow to Infiltration and was fine. So It's definitely possibly to enjoy playing two Republic classes together. I'd recommend playing different roles so you're switching up your play style. I also played my Vanguard dark sided and my Shadow light sided so that helped too. P.S. Don't be afraid to role an Imperial just because they're "bad." You can be a good guy over there, too, and it might just shift your paradigm a little.
  15. Unfortunately that is NOT the case. I wish it were but, alas, orange crafted gear comes only from your skill trainer or schematics. The good news is that most armor models have an orange version somewhere, and now with dye modules you can color them also. They're just hard to find because they use different names. You get the schematics from running mission skills but you can buy most on the gtn for a reasonable price (except rare or super-awesome orange schems :/ ) Anyway, sorry for the bad news and good luck finding the right set. P.S. I'd suggest you google tor fashion or swtor fashion can't remember. But there's a couple sites that name the different sets and show pics to help find the right ones.
  16. There are 2 good reasons for this. 1st- Gearing. Gloves and boots are cheap. Chestpiece is expensive. Buy boots and move armoring to chest, head, legs, generator... you get the idea. 2nd- Set bonus. This is actually 2 parts, the first is similar to above. You can get you set bonus cheaper and quicker than intended by getting the cheap gear and moving armorgs. The other reason is that when belts and bracers became moddable (also many offhands started to be moddable and use armorings) it became possible to have the four piece set bonus from 2 sets of gear. Game breaking just a little. They fixed this very quickly by locking the armorings that come in gear to the type of gear it came out of. If I remember right they implemented this shortly after they started making offhands, wrists and waist pieces moddable in abundance. And those were the reasons given I think.
  17. Honestly, while this is VERY annoying, I don't feel BW should make loot rules locked in place during Ops. This situation has happened to me before, and I feel your pain, but the simple solution is to /ignore the ops leader and anyone in his guild that's grouped, and drop group immediately. Let them worry about finding a replacement. A very similar thing happened on my original server where a (rather well known) guild needed an 8th, but they used DKP for loot distribution which, obviously, any pug would not have. Unfortunately this wasn't discussed until the first boss went down, and when it become clear they weren't going to adjust loot rules, drop group. Guess who had trouble getting pugs to fill out there ops groups for a while. Now I'll admit this worked best when the servers were very small and being a jerk with loot 3 times pretty made it impossible to put a group together (because you had a bad rap) It will still work, however, it'll just take longer to have an effect. The reason's I like being able to adjust loot rules half-way-though: ---Ever have that one guy who roles NEED on everything? Even when he can't use it? Like a Vanguard rolling NEED on Knight gear? Well, it happens. Even if everyone agrees before hand, someone will turn into a ***** and roll on everything. ("Just kick him and find a replacement." Isn't that the same solution used above?) ---Guild run!, Yay!!! Guildmaster and Ops leader is a great guy. Doing Master Loot, everything's fine. He has to log for whatever reason, now what? The guy leading ops is, well, a jerk. Get a few whispers from guildies worried about loot on finale Boss, "What if such-n-such drops?," "You know he'll pocket thingy if it drops right?" and so on, so we convince him to switch to Round Robin for final boss. Not possible if it's locked. ("What kind of guild doesn't trust their second?" - a new one; "He could still NEED it and get it anyway." - true, but then he'd have at least won it fair instead of stealing it; "Why not see what happens, and then have the GM /gkick the jerk if he does anything?" -because drama is bad in a guild, especially a new one. There are problems with being able to switch Loot Rules during an Ops. No doubt. However there will always be gear/loot jerks in MMOs. It comes done to whether you want to trust the 1 guy leading the op, or if you want to have to trust the other 7 or 15 people running the op with you. I'd prefer to have to only rely on 1 persons integrity than 7. Just my 2 cents. But I do understand how annoying it is. Just understand that it'll still be annoying anyway, even if you lock loot rules after you done the first boss or whatever.
  18. Alright, well. Let's take 3 white guys from your local rec center and match them against 2 random Olympians. I betting on the Olympians even though your rec league was a premade. What might work however is if the 3 man Olympic group from your example was matched against the 2 random Olympians from my example, and the 3 man rec league from my example was matched against the 2 randoms dudes from yours. That would make for closer matches based on SKILL rather than arbitrarily dividing by group or solo. (Let's see what happens when 2 random Olympians end up on the same team against 2 random white guys.... skill based is different and better) That's true, however; I remember floundering in warzones early on (back in 1-50 queues also) and it was getting matched AGAINST well organized premades that made me question my own competence, but getting matched WITH well organized premades that taught me how to be better and play objectives. An individual players skill is LARGELY dependent on his or her ability to pay attention, be humble, and be willing to learn (or rather relearn what they thought they already knew.) Which brings me to the next point... Not really, a bad player will remain a bad player until he or she decides to get better. There are plenty of tools online (on these very forums, in fact) to improve one's knowledge and ability in game, however, the best way to learn is by doing. If you lose, ask yourself "What could I have done better? Could I have done something to pull out a win? At what point in the match did my team lose control, what were our opponents doing at that point, what were we doing?" If you win, ask yourself "What could I have done better? Could I have contributed more to our win? At what point during the match did we take control? If I was on the opposing team what could I have done to get it back, how could I counter someone doing that?" Good players are always trying to get better, bad players are always blaming something, anything, else. It takes a good bit of dedication and time to get really good at an MMO with all the moving parts and number crunching, even more difficult to get good at PVP in an MMO because you now have to be knowledgeable about ALL of the capabilities and weaknesses of EVERY class. A casual player by definition isn't putting in the time needed to get better, and that's fine. But it's not "douchey" to say "You're losing because you're not very good not because half of the other team queued as a group." Don't get me wrong I'm not bashing casuals (in fact, I've been playing as a casual the last 6 months or so) It's the players who simply refuse to better themselves (whether they consider themselves casual or hardcore) but will come to the forums (or general chat) complaining that some super group is ruining their fun (fun here is winning I guess.) To those players: It's not the fact that you were playing against a premade that made you lose. It's that you were playing against a GOOD premade. And some bad news for you: If you were playing against a GOOD pug, you would still have lost, just not as badly. I know. I just wanted to put out the fires before they all jumped on your hypothetical bandwagon.
  19. I kinda have to disagree with this. I know how it feels to not get the name you want, we've all been there, but sometimes life happens and we need to take a break for a while (new baby, military deployment, long-term hospitalization, etc.) Some people have had an online gaming ID / character names through multiple games spanning a decade or more and unfortunately people out there will take names not because they actually want that name but because they're trolling someone who pissed them off in Huttball (This actually happened June 2012 during the first targeted server transfers, a member of our guild thought he was being funny by creating several toons on our target server with the exact names of people he didn't like. Needless to say he was kicked from the guild and did delete several of the offending characters- of course this was after they had had to rename anyway so.... it does happen.) The other thing you have to realize is that some people pre-ordered the game 6 months in advance for the specific purpose of getting the name they want. You're suggesting that because they don't log in for 30 or 60 days (but are coming back full time) they should lose their name to someone who's just checking the game out- never subs or spends a dime on cartel market, furthermore if this person log's in for a couple hours once a month he keeps that name forever- not cool for the person who's put way more (time, and money) into the game. I would support tying the character names to the account. I actually like how this would work. However, realize that this would mean that people would have to know your account name (for friends/ignore list, mailing, GTN sales/purchases, etc.) and some people aren't comfortable with that. It means that your alt, which you don't want guildies to know about (sometimes you just wanna get away ya know), will have the same .accountname attached to it making it possible for someone to recognize you. It can happen. It is a great idea though if they can address some of the privacy concerns (ie. only posting character names on GTN but still recognizing which account, I have no idea how they'd do that with player mail though.) Personally I'd have liked to seen unique Legacy names (like they used to be ) with the character names tied to the Legacy. So all mailing/GTN posts would simply use the Legacy name only and all characters on a Legacy could access all mail. And because you can hide Legacy name on your toons, the only thing you'd need to do is make a 'Legacy Friend' button toggle-able for friend requests. Of course then in-game mail rewards would have to be per legacy and not character? not sure how that'd work out. Anyway just my opinion, and since I know it's going to be unpopular let me give you some background. I am one of those 'pre-order to get my names' people. I knew I was going to play and wanted the names I wanted for a change.... then, after the targeted transfers last June I lost 14 of my 16 names. (And before you ask, 6 of them are 50+, 2 are off of their starter worlds, and 8 are placeholders). I friended my main as soon as I lost the name, more than a year ago now, and can't remember EVER seeing them log in. So you see, I'm on both sides of this issue. I've reserved my name and paid my price for it- so if I have to take a month off (or a year) not having my toon, or name, when I come back will put me off more than a little bit; at the same time, I have 14 characters with less than ideal names because the names I want (and had, btw) now belong to people who haven't played in quite a while. Sorry for the essay, let me recap. NO to deleting characters or names after any interval. YES to attaching character names to account or legacy but ONLY if player privacy concerns are addressed.
  20. Happened on my Inquisitor also. I got the whole series of mail from Rylee again. This coincided with my completion of Chapter 2 / Hoth and the Patch on 6/25 so I'm not sure what triggered it. But I've only gotten them only the once more so far.
  21. Okay, first, the Undead is right. The engine just can't handle it at the moment. That's not to say it will never be able to, but it'll require a lot more optimization first. However, the suggestion box is a place for 'Wouldn't it be cool if...' threads, and replies that "that'll never happen" are not helpful in a suggestion box. Either discuss how something could work and why it'd be a good addition to the game or nothing at all. That's not to say criticism is bad, but just keep it constructive or you kinda missed the point of a suggestion box. I actually think open PVP would be amazing in this game. (or really any game) Having a large fort / base with rare PVP armor vendors inside is a good idea. I would actually like to see players have to level up the base by achieving other PVP objectives though. (Capturing a space port, controlling a strategic well, etc.) And the vendors items get better / rarer with each level. However the opposing faction can control these objectives to gain bonuses that make it easier to capture the base from their enemies. (presence / expertise bonuses to all players on the planet, elite and champion NPCs to constantly attack the base, vendors at starting city that sell siege items like rocket launchers, unpackable turrets, etc.) That way it's more about taking the base and keeping it.

  23. You know what, I think the devs can do something to solve this. Instead of choosing your class at character creation and then your advanced class after your origin planet. Lets just choose our advanced class on the creation screen. Ooh!, and let's call it a Class and just stop using the term Advanced Class altogether because it seems to be confusing people a lot. This way we choose our Class like every other MMO out there and it should be pretty obvious that if you want to change your Class you should reroll. I know it won't stop ALL the stupid, but it should derail most of it. BTW, gear QQing is going to happen anyway, so will having a tank/heal/dps in your group that has NO IDEA how to play their class regardless of leveling from scratch (unless they bought their toon? hmmm.....). That being said, it's still a bad idea. There are no BAD CLASSES, just bad players. If people are allowed to change class just because "I didn't realize my advanced class SUCKED" they'd NEVER LEARN HOW TO PLAY. They'd switch to a different class because they saw someone doing super awesome damage in a warzone and think "I wanna do that!" not realizing it's SKILL not CLASS. Then they'd say that class is broken because it doesn't work for them and switch to another, not ever staying long enough to actually learn their class. "But we'd put restrictions to prevent that." Any restrictions would become eroded by the players crying for the change now. They'd get it, and after a while cry that they want less restrictions (having a permanent class choice is a restriction btw and you can see what's happening) and because they got it the first time they'd feel entitled to it again and again and again. And eventually there won't be any restrictions left. (Then they'd start complaining that ALL of the classes are to difficult to play and start demanding that BW make it easier, and that will KILL THIS GAME. ) "But why should there be any restrictions at all? I mean, it's not hurting anyone and more player choice is a good thing. I should be able to play how I want to damnit!" You're absolutely right! You should have choices in the game, choices that matter, choices that have meaning, that stick with you through your whole gaming experience.... wait I thought you wanted to get rid of a choice? Oh I see, but by that reasoning we should be able to go back and change decisions we made during our class story. You know, not kill whathisface, have a romance with that chick that you didn't flirt with because Elara was with you , etc. Also, why can't my maur dual wield with a pistol in one hand? I mean it fits her personality and back story, I should be able to play however I want, amiright? When will BW address this critical issue?! I've been waiting since Beta for this!!! Rawrrrrrr!!!! /sarcasm Okay, that might have been over the top, but seriously, if it means THAT much to you- reroll. Don't want to reroll? Willing to spend CC on class change? BUY A FRICKING CHARACTER SLOT! Everyone wins. BW makes money, you get to try your pet class that you think is sooooo awesome, and we don't have to hear about it. /thread (hopefully but not LIKELY )
