As I said before, don't base your choice on the current nerfs. Things change all the time in MMORPGs. I mean, the first nerf came in the first month of the game. But they will balance things out for sure (probably disadvantaging other classes in the process, maybe nerfing some, then having to balance them out again), but that's the way it goes. Don't go for the FOTM choice, that's all. Besides, if you already have a gunslinger, it's the sniper's mirror, so you'd play the same class in terms of abilities (just with different names and looks). You could try the operative, see how it goes, get used to the stealth, maybe go stabby and pick concealment or the healer way and go medic. Try it out for a couple of days, see how it goes and if you really hate it, go sniper.

I understand the OP. I wouldn't be caught dead playing a Jedi. However, I did manage to play a smuggler up to chapter 2. I simply ignored the fact that I played for the Republic, went all darkside and even helped the sith. So, OP, you can give it a shot. If you don't mind spoilers, this might convince you:

Why not? After all, what matters is what you enjoy the most. I personally would never play sniper after trying the gunslinger counterpart. The only reason being the cover system. I just hate it. Operative grants versatility and mobility. While leveling, stealthing past tons of mobs to get to an objective will be very helpful, not to mention healing. If you play as a healer, you'll always find a place in a heroic quest group or flashpoint while leveling. Endgame, operatives might have problems now, but who's to say how long they will last? Would you like to regret not picking one when they'll be back as a solid AC?

I could agree to a LFD tool if it was limited to every flashpoint being played once/day. I don't want to see people skipping content and leveling by repeating the same flashpoint over and over again. And some may argue that it's not my business how others play the game, but if it makes me sick, it is my business and you should play the game as it was intended.

Well, maybe they allow same sex romances, the only issue being that the characters you meet aren't gay.

People will start skipping content more and more, and soon, devs won't care that much about content anymore.

I made a smuggler as well, but I enjoy the imperial agent more. I guess the main reason is because I prefer the Empire over the Republic, but there are also other reasons, like the ship.
