  1. And also give the previous people who invested in the game their CP too. Founder here, subbed for all but 2 months...but to get the CP I have to sub? That's like waking up on Christmas morning but then finding out I can't open my gifts without paying $15 first. What is that?
  2. No, DCUO lets you enjoy all the features of the game. Yes some 4 mans and stuff are only for people who pay...but playing a 4 man is completely free. Yeah you have to pay for some classes...the classes they released in the DLCs. DCUO is pretty much the basic game that was released is free...the if you want to add to it you have to get the DLC. I think that model would be fantastic for this game plus selling the cosmetics and perks as well.
  3. DCUO does not stop you from enjoying MMO features. It gives players access to the entire game PLUS also letting them enjoy the basic 4mans and stuff that came with the game. Then they charge for the stuff they are releasing now, kind of like DLC packs.
  4. The sub model has worked for MMOs...up until this point. The only MMO it has worked for recently is WoW. Now F2P and other models that are not sub are the standard. I am suggesting that Free players should be able to you know play the MMO features without being restricted. SWTOR needs to understand that they are competing against games like LOL. It's not a MMO but time is time, if players aren't spending time in your game then they are spending time in another.
  5. Yep, that's a sham too. I was a pre-order, founder for this game. I subbed up until GW2 came out (exception of about 2 months I didn't have a computer) and now to get the time I pretty much paid for I have to sub again? Well thanks for the welcome back Bioware I guess. Also I think people need to realize that a lot of the MMO fans are MMO fans, this F2P model is not going to just bring in a big base of new players that have never ever played the game before. Especially since they had a free trial for most of the year, many people that have played the game have played it and given it a shot. Bioware needs to convince people to come back.
  6. This game as it is is more like a trial too isn't it? You are limited to MMO features and have to pay to experience them if you enjoy them.
  7. Compared to this game it is. You get more for your money. $60 you get the entire game for free and any additional content they add. You buy it once, everything in the game is yours. Go WVW, do your dungeons, do PVP and never once pay for anything and you will be more than fine. SWTOR you have to sub $15 a month to experience MMO features. If you sub for more than 4 months than you have already paid more than you would have of just buying GW2 once.
  8. You mean people are upset that a Free to Play model is not FREE? Who wants to full game for free? How about the option to PVP when I want to? Every other game gives the player this, why not SWTOR?
  9. Yep, in GW2 people are spending tons on cosmetics. Things like lockboxes mostly, but the lockboxes give out some cosmetics. The limited time skins for the halloween event likely made them tons. Peopler were spending 20+ on lockboxes trying to get limited time skins like the chainsaw greatsword. Not only that, grind in the game and trade your gold for gems and you can still buy anything from the store. It's a great model. I'm like you, i've spent less than $20 on their store but I can do everything and anything I want in the game. I like the F2P model because I'm not held to to play the game. If I want to play some other game for the next 4 days I can and not feel guilty about it.
  10. You guys keep thinking this. It's more about customers telling Bioware that there are other F2P games that are doing this better. New F2P games that will come out that will do this WAY better. If it wants to compete I feel it is going to have to change.
  11. Wrong link, I meant this... http://www.swtor.com/free/features
  12. If this is true then it's much better. I read http://www.swtor.com/buy there that it says full rewards from 3 FPs though. Guess i'll have to look into it more. FPs really should be free, at least some of them should. People want to play with each other, even if it's just running the same FP over and over again let them do that. They are investing time in the game and that will mean they will throw money at it. Gw2 has the best model. Pay once and get everything else and never have to pay again....yet people do. You see a bunch of people in cosmetic items because they invest so much time into the game why not?
  13. Exactly. It's not about entitlement, not about wanting stuff for free. It's about competition. A lot of other games have better models.
  14. What I read was for FPs that they are limiting rolls on loot to 3 bosses or something per week. I don't remember, I read it and logged off tbh. If it is true that FPs are completely free, that will be a lot better imo.
  15. No, Free players fund the game too. I think the current model is more discouraging though, you are basically paying for time. If the model is to only encourage subs then I don't see how it can work. Other F2P games are made so that free players can enjoy the game to their hearts content but that certain things will make the game better. This model actually just feels like "Sub for the game or suffer the consequences." The point I've been saying is...F2P is pretty much the standard now and other games do it better. It's not about Free players wanting everything for free, it's that there are alternatives and is this game going to draw those players from their other free games? Is it going to keep them for when other F2P games pop up? The F2P market is not some unlimited thing. There will not be a unlimited flow of players to go around just because it is free.
  16. If Bioware can deliver new content, new FPs, new OPs, New anything they can charge for that. They can charge for as many cosmetics and perks as they want. They need to give some of those for free though, even if it's just one of em. PVP/PVE is a big part of ANY MMO and it is what makes a MMO. They are basically charging everyone for the MMO and giving away the single-player game for free.
  17. This is a better idea than what they have yes. But anything that is going to slap the player on the hand and tell them to pony up more money to continue playing the game s/he loves is a bit much. It's like the arcade or something.
  18. It's not really about entitlement. You are right, people aren't entitled to anything. The problem is there is A LOT of competition out there that offers more for less. This F2P model by comparison is a bit much. Hotbars....really? That has to be a first. Why not give F2P players access to all current warzones, FPs, and OPs? Are they not making any more? Just give them unlimited access to the current so that they can enjoy the game with their friends endlessly and charge for new content that will come out. I think EA needs to understand, the more time a player is willing to spend in any game the more s/he is likely to invest in their character. With these limitations, I don't understand why I should spend time in the game because I'll just hit a brick wall that I have to pay for more time basically.
  19. What about operations and flashpoints? Group play is a HUGE part of any MMO, cutting this out was a mistake IMO. There are a lot of other F2P games that does this better. I know GW2 isn't technically a F2P game but after the one time price you really don't have to pay a dime for anything.
  20. A lot of MMO players don't do things for "Fun" so I can see why they'd be frustrated with you.
  21. There is no vertical gear progression in GW2. As in there are no tiers of gear like say WoW and this game. Yes there is better gear, as you level up you get better and better gear. Different gear has different stat allocation. But no one is going to be better in this game just for having played longer and that is kind of how it seems this game has been designed. http://www.gamebreaker.tv/mmorpg/no-gear-why-play/
  22. Stats for gear mean little in GW2. This is the same as just getting a better chance at getting COOLER looking stuff. Not BETTER stuff. You can still cap your character out with stuff in the game. Again, gear stats are not vital in GW2. A capped character just has his stats allocated differently but he is not MORE powerful. SWTOR is a completely different beast in that there will be endless gear grind and people will have to trek up the gear ladder to become better. That's not the case for Guild Wars 2. For GW2 there is NOTHING wrong with this. This is pretty much the same as a player paying for a XP boost, it just makes getting that rare loot (skin) drop easier. SWTOR this would very much be pay to win since the game relies on gear.
  23. So you've never played it, have no interest in it yet know it is overhyped garbage.
  24. He wouldn't be the first about talking about how he's played the game. Well Bioware hyped up things about their game that weren't true. I don't know if DEs are going to change how questing works in MMOs. I don't know if Anet will create new ones and rotate them in and out like they said they would which would keep them fresh and exciting...but I do know that what they said about DEs is true, in fact as others have experienced they have went beyond with DEs. Not just random events that happen but actually have a story to follow if you care to do that. There is not a thing so far when I can say "I think Anet may not have been honest about this or may have been exaggerating." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVEVHhx0WPk Like that. Think what you may about DEs, combat, no holy-trinity...but one thing Anet did not do is exaggerate or even lie about parts of their game. I have met a lot more people that felt GW2 met the hype and some even succeeded. Anet says something and they delivered on it.
  25. Well they depend on Whales. People that will spend and literally buy 90% of the content in the store just because. These people are paying for multiple people and then they are getting bonus from players like me who do buy something. Thing is, if people feel the game is worth it they will buy something. They will buy cosmetics because they spend so much time in the game it's more likely they will spend it. For the smart and cautious spender F2P is much cheaper. For the people who have bad spending habits it's not, that is where they get their profits from when people are spending nearly $30 a month on store items and some even more.
