  1. Wow, way to completely miss the entire point and go off on an unrelated tangent. Not to mention put completely false words into my mouth. I never said that everyone should act rude on the internet. I'm saying that if people can't handle cuss words and rudeness, then it's a wonder how they can spend any time online at all... since it'd filled with it. Words are words. They can only hurt you if you let them.
  2. This is just plain false. Not to mention only your personal opinion on what a need is. The vast majority of the game is played with a companion. There is a compelling argument that gear for companions is a need. Orange equipment is BW's version of an Appearance tab. Appearance means a lot in MMOs, and could easily be argued to be a need. See, this is exactly the problem. You have an opinion on what you consider a need and are highly restrictive in it's definition. But what people like you can't get through their skulls is that not everyone has the same definition for what qualifies as "needable". For the record, I do follow the "golden rule" of looting. If something is an upgrade for someone that can use it, I will greed. Sometimes I will ask if I can need too. However, what I'm able to understand that many of you don't is that your way is not the "right" way. You cannot expect everyone to adhere to your rules, and it would be entirely ridiculous to restrict people from Needing on gear if they have plausible reason to. Which is what greying out the button if it's not for your class would do. Communicate, don't regulate.
  3. People get ahold of a buzz word they don't understand and think they can use it whenever they feel like. If you have an argument why we should have AC-switching and how it should be implemented, then post it, and I'll rebut. If you don't, then you're just blowing hot air.
  4. Because dual wielding is generally a bad idea. You may think that two weapons is better than one, but that's almost never true. Throughout history, the only effective forms of dual wielding have been with a main "attack" weapon, and a defensive weapon. The best example is the Rapier and Main-gauche. And then, all the attacking is done with your main hand (Rapier). But that's the logical reason. The real reason is that Lucas didn't use trainers who specialized in any form of dual-wielding (they mostly don't exist). In the OT, he used Samurai style combat. In the prequels, he used mostly wu-shu trainers. Admittedly, wu-shu does contain the dual butterfly-sword styles, but they probably didn't work well with straight blades.
  5. The "restricted" system doesn't work with TOR because of companions and Appearance (Orange equipment).
  6. What? He wasn't being hypocritical. He didn't complain about you needing on it too for your companion. Unless you specify loot rules (in this case, no needing for companions), you really don't have a leg to stand on. If you want people to follow your loot rules, then say so and spell it out. Not everyone comes from the same MMOs, and not everyone has the same idea of what is "standard" or expected.
  7. What was that? All I heard was "blah blah blah, I'm a WoW fanboy who likes to troll." Might want to post something substantial explaining yourself rather than just making unsupported statements. Oh, and some just flat-out false ones.
  8. That would probably be because they agreed with your first two and only saw problems with your third. I know that's my feeling. 1) Profanity filter 2) If you let words hurt you, you should probably get off the internet entirely
  9. Actually, that's what most of the Pro-AC switchers are suggesting. You seem a little on edge, since you completely missed this posters point. Solo content has nothing to do with it. Key words: Raid and PvP And you'd be wrong about people caring enough to learn their class. Look at League of Legends. People play ranked games with characters they've never played before for the lulz. As mentioned above; no we're not. A lot of the pro-switcher posters here have advocated switching outside base class. Anecdotal "evidence" counts for precisely jack and squat. You missed the connection he was making? WoW has the highest market share of the MMO market. If you want to switch from a Mage to a Warrior, you have to make a new character. And WoW didn't lose subs because you had to make a new character to play a different class. Therefore, your argument that not being able to switch will make people unsub is completely unsupported, and frankly quite asinine.
  10. It shouldn't, since it takes less time to get anywhere than any other MMO.
  11. That's why you make the rules clear right away. Always make sure the leader rolls last, and if anyone breaks the rules, you kick them before the item drops. If someone is a jerk about loot, spread around to your guild mates and friends that he's a ninja and not to invite him to groups.
  12. You were right about the petty and small. The game was made in America, mostly by Americans. They aren't going to go through every line of subtitles just to add some 'u's that are completely unnecessary. From a global perspective, color and colour are both perfectly correct. Internationally published journals allow words like those to be spelled either way. To be honest, you're taking the "grammar nazi" title to a whole new level if you want to shut off the game because of a letter in a word.
  13. I've had the game running and (mostly) playing for 8 hours in a row several times. Never had any performance decreases. i7 930 6 GB RAM GTX 560 Ti No memory leaks for me.
  14. You guys are missing the point. Neither is "easier" or "harder" than the other. The mechanics are effectively the same. I just found it funny that anyone could have the words "hard" and "WoW" in the same sentence. It's pretty much an oxymoron. Oh, and Pablo... if you take WoW's starting content, but apply their modern mechanics, people would have cleared it way faster. There was less content in WoW at launch, though the mechanics were more "grindy" since they still used old-school systems.
  15. Doesn't work with MMOs. That's giving out way too much gear way too fast. That's the reason they have Commendations. There is no "set in stone" way to do loot. That's why BW leaves it free for people to choose. Discuss and make your loot rules clear before you do the content. That's the best and fairest way to decide loot.
  16. LOL I almost got tears I laughed so hard. Keep tellin' yourself that.
  17. First it was "Open more servers, I hate queues!!!!" Now it's, "Merge the servers... I suck at being social/only play DPS so I think the game is dead!!!" Just goes to show that people will QQ no matter which path you take. Open more servers, they cry it's dead. Don't open, they cry about queues.

  19. Unfortunately, the current system is both the most fair, and the least fair at the same time. The problem with creating hard system "governing" of looting is that not everyone can agree on what is acceptable. Not to mention there are a LOT of exceptions to consider. What you said about "talking it out" is exactly how it should be every group. The "fairest" way to decide how loot is to be dealt is to define your rules at the beginning of the group. Make sure the Leader always rolls last and kick anyone who breaks the rules. Sure, it can potentially take more work than just "pushing a button", but it's the fairest way to distribute loot. Not to mention that BW has already said that it's their intention to allow people to need on anything they want. Their stance is "if you participated, you are entitled to just as much chance as anyone".
  20. Some of the ideas are good, but your suggested increases are WAY too high. They would have to completely redesign terrain and artifically inflate the world to maintain their travel ratio. Btw... if you suggest having Sprint at level 1, they may as well just increase base movement speed to Sprints level and get rid of the skill altogether.
  21. Oh yeah... so in short, I disagree with "government policing" of loot rules. If you want to have rules for loot, establish them when you make the group and kick those that don't follow the rules. Smear their names with your guild and friends too if it makes you feel better.
  22. Doesn't solve the problem for Orange equipment. Even if the mods don't match your character's stats, those can be taken out and replaced with ones that do. So if the armor is the type you wear and you like the look, nobody has any more "right" to it than you do. Now, personally I am all for the "golden rule" of looting... however, I can also see the other side of the fence. So I ask you: Everyone is participating in the fight. Theoretically everyone is doing their job. If an item drop is an upgrade for someone's Companion, what right do you have to "budge in line" and demand first dibs on the item? Again, personally I would like to not have competition on my items, so I defer if it's an upgrade for someone (though on really rare stuff, I make them prove it to me or check myself). But people have a point that if they or their companion can use something, they have a right to roll. The solution is not to make an arbitrary mechanic. The solution is to determine your loot rules independently within the group, since everyone has a different idea of what is "Fair" for looting.
  23. The funny part is, I saw someone say this in General on The Harbinger earlier today... One of the busiest servers. And at the time the server was Full. You guys get your material from the same playbook?
