  1. I'm just putting 2 and 2 together looking at the numbers I receive and what I can dish out. I know my burst damage is nowhere near theirs, yet (prolly won't be regardless of max gear). I have a few more BM pieces and a whole lot of War Hero still to get (which I prolly wont stick around for now that D3 is out). I haven't dueled at all truthfully - I see no opportunity unless I joined a PvP guild. I just know that most players take advantage of our class in BGs because they know in most cases we don't have the ability to match their damage or control them (other players ruining CC) once they've gotten the jump on us. It's sickening feeling like bait in warzones...it's not even about skill, it's just situational criteria we can't change. I'm just tired of feeling like our class is viewed as free, easy kills in warzones. I know and observe players (I even do it!) that immediately focus a sage / sorc first and keep focusing those players the whole match - to the point of it sucking the fun out of the game experience. Maybe I'm just sick of how frail clothie classes are in PvP; when I played a rogue in WoW I'd be lucky to finish off the target I opened up on before 3-4 people focus me and blow me up in mere seconds. At least I could vanish, cloak, etc though. A petty shield and a 3 sec sprint isn't enough, most players will go the extra step to hunt you down and see you dead. At least admit that our class isn't as easy to play and doesn't have the same ez of ownability "out of the box" like certain classes with higher armor and higher burst do. Tell me our class takes more skill to excel at and master. I can admit I haven't played at 50 more than a few days, nor have I mastered a spec etc...but from the looks of things this class feels underpowered.
  2. Lets be honest. You're footage is cherry picked and self glorifying (like all PvP videos). It is in no way representative of how the class CONSISTENTLY fares against equally geared and competent opponents of other classes. Although they are somewhat entertaining and motivational to the community so I give you credit for that. Seriously dude? You really think that we have to be told not to backpedal? 1-3 are easily dismissed. You really think you can kite melee? War Hero Maras and Sents steamroll you before you can bat an eyelash you'll be at half HP. You just can't easily counter **** like that. You would have to react flawlessly and hope for some RNG on your side. Then again, dueling is a completely different scenario versus getting focused in a warzone.
  3. When I re-subbed and started grinding a new sorcerer I initially wanted to roll a hybrid build like yours that had innervate and wrath. Then while I was leveling in warzones I noticed how much I was getting zerged by melee and figured it was useless to waste talent points on those abilities when my death was unavoidable because I couldn't peel them off me. That's when I opted for the kiting and force efficiency talents in lightning instead. Chain lighting and polarity shift are nice bonuses abilities as well.
  4. Remember that warzones are about objective play. So bursting down opponents to be able to bomb doors in void, blow up a healer at nova coast or civilian war are critical. DOTs can seem like good damage after their applied and you're chain casting force lightning, but remember how long it took to put them up with the GCD time. Compared to the instant cast burst of other pure DPS tree abilities of other classes, DOTs just aren't as effective. Albeit, madness is a fun spec to play, that is until you're out of force which doesn't take very long.
  5. Both 31pt specs have serious shortcomings. DOTs (Madness) aren't PvP oriented as they take time to do damage and PvP is all about burst. Nice for dueling or 1v1 action if you can find it and can line of sight your opponent. Only burst from madness is Death Field. This build is very mana starved, I found myself out of force in a minute of DOTing and force lightning when I wasn't being hounded by melee. Lightning has issues with the fact that at 50 everyone is constantly moving so good luck being effective with all the cast time based abilities. That and the cooldowns on Chain lightning and Thundering Blast make you resort to doing lightning strikes in between. I feel like affliction is just an annoyance to have to keep applying in order to get TB crits and has no synergy with the build style. Good kiting and force efficiency talents though. I personally went back to my lightning / madness hybrid. I lack the larger burst of thundering blast and chain lightning crits without reverberating force, but still do some with a combo of death field and chain lightning combos tied together with instant cast lightning strikes and shocks. We can still instant cast CL with lightning strike procs (lightning storm). I usually force lightning and lightning strike with wrath till I get an instant CL, FL again to get another wrath to lineup a combo. Damage can be decent if I get a few crits in a string, but the Global cooldowns from instants kinda breaks up the "burst effect". I never really run out of force and have the ability to kite pretty damn well. Dark mending allows for good spot heals with polarity shift and alacrity trinket (1.6 sec Dark infusions). It's very well rounded, but lacks the damage edge of having 31pt abilities.
  6. Bioware should take some notes from the Blizzard devs on Clothie / glass-cannon PvP class design. Granted I haven't kept up with WoW abilities since Cataclysm....Locks have a tank spec with soul link, multiple ways to regen hp without casting. Mages have frost armor and fire armor procs for kiting as well as iceblock for short term damage immunity, and invisibility. Shadowpriests, shadowform, fears, hp regens etc..who knows what other tricks they have for dealing with melee with the current build. The key here is that many of these abilities are passive and don't require wasting time with GCDs so they actually have time to DPS instead of mashing sprint, shield, overload, force slow as fast as you can before you explode. I feel like a damn Druid in this game. Useless, taking up space unless I'm heal specced. You know, because feral and balance were gimp for so long no serious PvPer in their right mind entered an arena as those specs if they wanted to be a top dawg glad. Otherwise, we're just a quick free kill to most classes and a laughing stock on the battlefield as DPS spec. Hell I had an operative harassing me just a few minutes ago saying in spatial "why run". He's right, we're a frickin joke.
  7. Electric binding is only useful for group PvP objective play, such as planting bombs on the first door in void. Cempa, stop repeating yourself with these suggestions about moving it to a lower tier so it can be put in 31pt builds. Honestly I feel like the ability has synergism with dps caster style play not a dot based. Yes, it's great to save you for a mere second or two more, but in almost all cases your death is imminent unless you play on a pre-made and have a healer to save your sorry *** every time you use overload. This class needs damage not more bull***** utility / defensive talents that simply buy us a few seconds here and there, then once our opponents resolve is full (which happens quick) we're screwed because we never had a chance to get any solid damage in to take them down.
  8. Yea buddy the whole community is wrong and you're just a PvP god - problem in chair not class, yada yada yada...Some sorcs and sages need to drop the "mightier than though" attitude. I'm not even 50 yet (49, will be soon)on my SECOND sorcerer and I know this class is imbalanced when I get run over like a truck - this even happens in the lower warzone brackets from players half my level. When I hit 50 and get rolled even harder it won't ultimately be a gear issue because when I'm full War Hero I'll be lucky to see 3k+ crits. Whereas, on other classes that seems to be business as usual and 4-5k+ highs. Not to brag or as if it means much, but I've gotten glad in WoW arena's. 1v2 / 1v3 scrubs on my Jedi in SWG. Did the stupid Field Marshall grind in WoW and kept up with the best players of my server. Plenty of us expressing our voices have decent PvP credibility. So I'd like to think I'm a more than average, competent, and seasoned PvPer like many others that are struggling since the changes. Our classes lack proper damage at our base class abilities - this has been an issue since day one IMO. As a glass cannon class when everyone else and their mother hits like a Fck'in mack truck and you don't, there is something terribly wrong. Sad part is that I noticed this at level 40 on my first sorcerer at launch before I deleted it and quit. Glad Diablo 3 comes out next week because nearly 6 months later, as of patch1.2 this class is still FUBARed! Bioware better get this class balanced because with all the PC game release competition this year not many PvP focused sorcs or sages will bother to stick around for their rip off version of rated battlegrounds - certainly aint looking like this is worth my $15 a month.
  9. Hmmm I think I vaguely remember you from Eclipse playing a melee stacker during the CU? TKM, something, something. Maybe that was SwordsmanJay or someone else I'm thinking of.... At lower levels Haunted Dreams is great for 1v1s so that later on in a fight you can get a long duration CC (no DOTing) and heal up and hopefully pull off a win. Then again, what do I know as I'm not even 50 yet (almost there) so I have no idea if I could last through the resolve bar resetting in order to use it. Still though, we wear paper for armor...no time to stop and cast whirlwind. I'm going for 2/21/18 for the survivability until I get some gear to try out full madness. Whirlwind isn't much use with a target covered in DOTs...Although, I'm thinking I will favor Electric Bindings and Backlash vs the petty 2 second root of Creeping Terror. I attempted to play SWTOR with Ex-Eclipsians, but I didn't feel like being in the SWTOR version of DEATH with that Slodo dude leading...they were on Port Nowhere, but I quit, came back and I'm now on The Fatman for now (till Diablo 3). Good to see an Eclipse vet still tearin it up in PvP.
  10. I have a question regarding alacrity and PvP gearing as a lightning / madness hybrid. I want to use alacrity as a defensive measure to Line of sight boost heal myself with Dark Infusion (talented .5 sec cast reduction) by popping Polarity shift and an alacrity trinket (BM or new War Hero) - perhaps recklessness as well. My concern is that you say that alacrity caps at 30%. I'm thinking that just by using polarity shift (20% alacrity) and a trinket I will be close to that cap and that any alacrity on my gear will hit some serious DRs and basically be a waste of a stat (could replace with crit, surge, power). Is all sources of alacrity the same in regard to hitting this cap?
  11. I don't even need to hit 50 to know that the dmg and healing output for our abilities are subpar in comparison to the other classes. Bolster has shown me enough. The fundamental mistake with Sorc / Sages is Low armor, but no FRICKIN' BURST DMG / HEALING! What makes this ironic is that glass canon archetypes are classic design for RPGs. How can you screw that up? Honestly? If I'm lucky my Death Field will crit for slightly over 2k...I just hit level 40. While all the while everyone around me is dropping 3.5k+ crits like its nobodys business having a jolly good ol' time melting my face into the ether. Or how bout those awesome wrath proc force lightning instants with that extra damage boost that hit for 1.5k! Woohoo can certainly melt faces with that lightning, not! More like tickle them to death...
  12. Sorcs / Sages were never competitive in PvP to begin with from launch day. I knew at level 40 as a madness hybrid that this class was drastically under-powered compared to the game's counterpart classes. We're supposed to be Glass Cannons whether we're healing or DPSing; hence why we're given light armor. Yet we have pitiful burst. Our survivability is a joke...our heals are a joke compared to countering the burst of other classes. All this class has is decent mobility on the battlefield, but you wont get far with even a single melee blowing their CDs to steamroll you down. Fix this broken class Bioware. The past 4 months have shown you have learned nothing about balancing classes for PvP in an MMO. I can't even believe I came back for 1.2 and leveled another sorcer to 40 in just a week and a half. I'm glad Diablo III is two weeks away because the devs appear to be clueless from what I've seen in the 1.2 updates. FYI...I average 10+ medals most games mostly based on objectives. My DPS and healing numbers are quite pitiful (as they should be). Warzone statistics aside, I get steamrolled 1v1 because every other class has ridiculous burst that we can't counter whether it be by CC'ing and bursting them down or kiting and healing to even try to fight someone that gets the initial opener. I dread hitting 50 because it will be even worse with the gear gap. I've heard of Marauders dropping 9k dmg in just a few seconds...my Resurgence heals for less than 1k crit initially and small ticks every few seconds...laughable. I'm sure 50 BM gear won't scale it enough to be able to keep me alive for a few more seconds. Pretty sad that I'm already thinking about saving 1.5mil credits to unlock another race class combo to reroll again, but truthfully I don't think this game is worth the time after all I've observed. I really believe what they're doing is to manipulate the class distribution.
  13. Switch the placement of Efficacious Currents with Dark Resilience as it makes a better compliment and prerequisite for Fadeout for those that want to enhance the Static Barrier ability through the talent system. While I would like to give Fadeout a try I think 4 talent points (2 wasted in Dark Resilience) is a bit of a stretch to justify its acquisition. Thoughts from other Sorcerers? Not sure if the Devs pay attention to this forum for suggestions since their probably going crazy with launch responsibilities.
