  1. Thanks. I guess that isn't my direction right now, then. Looks like I need to do some gearing up before I'm ready for this one. Off we go!
  2. I just recently leveled up to 55, and among other things, have visited Oricon for the first time. I have found the Corrupted Subteroth to be like some of the Class Quests during my level climb: a wakeup call that I'm not playing my character particularly well. I've been reading some advice about the quest in particular, and I'm trying to incorporate the advice I'm seeing in how I'm playing this (interrupt the one ability, kill the tentacle quickly), but I'm also trying to look at how I'm using and gearing my healing companion. I'm a Jedi Shadow, and I'm currently specced for balance build, and I'm using the tanking stance (forgot the name, the one that increases threat generation). I've settled into using Tharan, and other than this quest, I've liked how he's increased my survivability. Here are the questions I'm wrestling with: 1. Is the Ewok any better as a healer? I have just enough Cartel point to buy him, and I'd be willing to if it would make for better healing, but I've not been able to find much online to make it clear whether he makes much of a difference. 2. I've been updating Tharan's gear focusing on Cunning and Power. Is there a better way to improve his healing? When I hit this wall, I realized that most of his gear was rated about 116, and now the average probably falls out in the 140's, but I'm not sure if I'm approaching his gear correctly. I don't have a fortune in credits, so when I'm buying gear or upgrades in the marketplace, I'm not buying the best, but I'm happy to make whatever investment I can to improve him if it helps. Any advice on improving my healer companion would be greatly appreciate. Thanks!
  3. I finally pulled this off, thanks to some of the other older threads. I'll describe what I did, in case anyone comes on this in the future: 1. Qyzen - I realized that I had been equipping Qyzen wrongly, and had not been emphasizing Aim/Endurance gear. For pretty minimal cost, I added some Aim-centered gear to the pieces where he was weakest, which boosted his Aim about 30-40% to over 700. I have no idea if that's a decent Aim level to have at level 45, but it was a dramatic improvement from where he was, so I'm sure he was more effective at dealing damage as a result. 2. I respeced balance to get the Sever Force trait (is that the name? Whatever the top trait in the balance line is). I had speced a couple of low level abilities in the other trait lines. Along with giving me the SF ability, it also meant that I was putting more points into FIB abilities on the way up. Others had praised both FIB and SF, and the respec gave me access to both, and a stronger version of FIB. 3. With that work in place, I was very conscientious about stunning his heal ability. These improvements helped me survive a little better, and do damage a little quicker, and that let me pay very close attention to the stun timing. It was close, and I lost Qyzen along the way, but he did go down. Thanks to the posters in other threads that gave useful advice. Hope this helps someone out in the future!
  4. I've read a few threads on defeating the Stark class quest, but the ones I found were a bit old, and so I'm posting in part to see if any of the changes to the Skill Tree effects people's advise on this quest. I'm sitting at level 45, and so if I recall I'm a few levels over Stark, and this quest is still destroying me, so it has amplified for me just how much I need to learn about this class (and the game, for that matter). Normally, I play with Qyzen in a tank role. I'm not married to that, but I've just always felt too squishy playing with Tharan or the others. On this quest, here's what I've tried that has worked best for each character (died 20-30 times or so): 1 - Qyzen in straight attack - I've gone in on fought hard with Qyzen tanking. Try to stun his heals and use my high damage attacks as much as possible. This is the closest I've gotten, but still no cigar. I've also tried Qyzen in the dual tank ability (can't remember the name), and it doesn't make that much of a difference. 2 - Tharan with LOS - I try to hide behind the boxes up top and angle so Tharan is healing while I'm using project and other AOE effects. I've never found the sweet spot where Tharan has LOS to see me and Stark can't. It prolongs the battle, but I've still missed stunning a heal or two such that I really haven't dropped his damage that much. This worked better than me just going after Stark directly with Tharan healing, but not by much. 3 - The woman (can't remember her name) with me tanking - Following some other recommendations, I tried setting her as passive and attacked for awhile, then set her to attack after I drew the threat. I never figured this out. I feel like I'm too squishy and too incompetent in my role to tank well. A few questions I have: 1 . Gear - I know I'm probably undergeared, as well as Qyzen and my other guys. Is there a reasonable way to improve their gear before trying again? 2. Leveling - I'm pretty thorough about doing side-quests as I go along, so I don't have a lot of solo quests queued up right now. Is there a reasonable way to pick up another level or two as a primarily solo character with no pending quests? I haven't tried the Space combat much, so if that's a reasonable way, I'm happy to try that (and would be curious if I need to upgrade my ship before trying). 3. Jedi Shadow Balance - I'm willing to respec - I'm not married to Balance at all. Any suggestions on how to think about this spec well, or other specs I should consider? 4. Strategy - Any other suggestions of companions to focus on or approaches I can take to the battle? Happy to have a challenge, so I'm reluctant to just go in with somebody and knock it off, so I'd love any suggestions about how I can improve. I encounter these class quests as a wake-up call to learn the system better. I definitely need to! Thanks for any advice.
  5. Claymaniac and Selgyoku understand the question. Thanks, that helps. Glad I can play until I'm locked then pick back up when I can - hopefully, ASAP!
  6. I'm loving my game time for my pre-order, and I received my box yesterday, but with Christmas next week, I expect to wait until after Christmas to open the box and input the code activating my account. I assume that once the early access ends, my account will be locked until I enter my registration code, but that once I do (perhaps as late as early January), I'll still be able to pick up where my character is at without losing that progress. Has anyone confirmed this? I guess another way to ask this, is there a deadline for entering your registration codes on accounts that used early access? Thanks for any help.
