  1. 2550 here, CE edition had the free month and a good break in the middle of the game of 4 month or so (and no I didnt continue subbing and I paid monthly My other half has CE edition too, never took a break and has 2500
  2. way too black and white, fact is SWTOR will be around even if it does cost EA a ton of cash every month for numerous reasons. Aside from the fact Lucas will have a pretty iron clad contract requiring a dumptruck of $100 bills every month they will be required to have a game running in order to maintain the IP, this is the only reason Warhammer online is still going now, its a simple block to other houses getting their hands on potent IPs and making real use of them. I see failure when the developers will not communicate with their customers because they are embarrassed about the state of their product.
  3. Then get used to not having content updates anywhere close to regular, VO is massively time and cost intensive and requires so many people to be involved its not even funny, especially with multiple choice, whereas a sole developer can choose areas, story and piece together the parts for text based content.
  4. HK-41 and Cathar are the only carrots they have, hence we wont get them
  5. Nope thats your negativity you are bringing to the party, mine was a wry take on the question given that even on the quietest servers there is always more than one person per planet (though often not much more. If you chose to see everything in a bad light the onus is on you so why don't you take your negativity elsewhere instead of whining about poorly perceived whiners because you lack the concept of irony.
  6. awesome, they are considering new and empty planets to be put into the game instead of asking how they can get people to go to the damn planets they already have
  7. Real patch notes wont be available untill a week or so after the patch when diligent players figure out what Bioware have done and omitted from the "official" patch notes
  8. Numbers dont lie? I think Enron and more recently just about every bank stands as a testament to the contrary
  9. Its kind of funny after DAOC and Planetside tri faction PvP was ignored for a decade and now its the new hotness
  10. I found several planets that must have been secret....there wasnt another soul upon them......
  11. You are clutching at straws, SWTOR doesnt really run on the heroengine, they grabbed the source code from a pre production prototype version and re-engineered it almost entirely. The last software drop they had from heroengines creators was over 3 years ago. http://www.heroengine.com/2011/11/heroengine-meets-starwars/
  12. Actually BW didnt listen to anyone, they just did what Bioware do and made a single player game with cinematics and voice over with the smallest of cues to multiplayer functionality and called it a MMO. They should have released this for the xbox, it would have been a runaway success but as it stands it has no right to be called a MMO as the multiplayer interactions are minimal and far from massive.
  13. lol, dude, its been months since I last logged in, well before 1.2, I was merely stating that the game will keep on going and going and going due to EAs IP cockblocking
  14. Haha, SWG also didnt listen, look how that turned out. The whole "customers just dont know whats fun" doesnt work too well.
  15. To be fair for a MMO it was incredibly smooth and trouble free for most (some had monster problems though) The lack of population stems from the BW design of a singleplayer "mmo"
  16. Simple fact is the game would "survive" with 0 subs, it would lose them money hand over fist but it would certainly survive. Why? They need a game to retain the IP and theres no way EA would allow such a potent IP to be released back into the wild, another company may make something amazing out of it and take money away from their operations, its why Warhammer Online is on life support. They would sooner pay to keep things out of the hands of others than give them up. A good example of this outside of games is the 1994 FF4 film, it was made simply so the studio could keep the IP.
  17. Trolling again eh? Orvr is a no brainer in a MMO, especially one with such railroad confines as SWTOR, it allows people to create their own chaotic and random world where anything can happen and as a result retains interest. The fact they didnt do anothing about it untill wayyyy to late to make anything other than a total pigs ear of it wasnt the fault of the players, no one asked for the stupid set up of illum, that was all the devs.
  18. Actually came across a very interesting article a couple of days ago regarding the heroengine and SWTORs usage of it from January that a lot of people wouldnt have seen. Try speaking for yourself first because you certainly dont speak "for the rest of us"
  19. See you say that like we get all the old stuff but simply made better when in fact nothing could be further from the truth. All the newer MMos are just shiny and bring little in terms of depth, tri factions were a no brainer since DAOC and Planetside and yet why is it only now that companies are actually planning in these ancient features?. I also dont understand your statement of "and then well cry when NewGameX doesnt have the hand holding features of OldGameX" when the older games had no hand holding features when compared with the new idiot proof stuff thats coming out (seriously 1 main stat per class in SWTOR is rediculous) Every time a MMO plans something "revolutionary" its pretty much a disaster, the cinematics of SWTOR was nice once but soon becomes a space bar mashfest and is wasted. Its beyond beleif that they do these things as opposed to just digging out all the awesome bits of past games and integrating them well.
  20. 3 times in front of the mirror
  21. Thats a very superficial view, Warhammer Online did bring new and exciting things, its original premise was a massive integration of PvP and PvE creating a real living world with a monumental sense of realm pride. Sadly it was beyond their ability to deliver and was abandoned by EA shortly after launch. Income suffered when Mythic made the fatal error of killing the cash cow (pve players) by taking the cheap option of concentrating on PvP (they actually didnt do much of that either). Warhammer was originally envisioned as something beyond epic but sadly became an example of what could have been (even more than SWTOR)
  22. The problem is that this isnt a MMO, its just another single player game in Biowares traditional vein. What keeps people in a MMO is the attachment and expansion of the players characters, tweaking the character, playing with builds in conjunction with different types of gear, that just isnt available here. Theres one stat per class for heavens sake, crit and surge are universal (heal and dps) and builds are restrictive and narrowly focused. Theres no "tactic" slots which change how your character plays, theres no difference at all between your character and the one standing next to you on the fleet except for clothing (at best) I played around on the GW2 stress test yesterday, trying out the crafting and playing with the traits and it was very impressive, you could dial in things that would completely change how your character played next to anyone elses allowing for real customization around playstyle. The legacy system doesnt offer much to this but min maxing with silly buffs and again, everyone has it, theres no effort or sense of achievement at all. If your plan is to keep making your customers reroll other classes then the game will be set up to fail because by the very nature of that strategy people will not become attached to their characters and as soon as something shiny catches their eye they will be off.
  23. they know it, they are not that dumb but its mostly politics and saving face.
  24. You have made plenty of ridiculous statements in this thread and then have professed that you have only been trying to convey facts, I can only surmise you are just trolling. You cant be the voice of reason and exercise sarcasm at the same time. Just like you cant come out with a farcical statement like "subs haven't dropped" a week before the investors report shows an exodus of 100s of thousands and expect anyone to believe anything that comes out of your mouth again (oh and just to clarify I'm not referring to you personally in that example)
  25. commiserations to the winner for having that monstrosity taking up space in their home
