  1. As far as the dot goes, and I find this strange coming from a power tech as a vanguard. It needed to happen. I spec into gut for one reason in PVP. As a tank with a 15 second dot GOOD LUCK. Gut's primary mode was to go into "I'm about to die" mode and tab dot everything. It isn't balanced, it needs to change. I think this change will be for the better and we will see more competitive games for it.
  2. Give it time and I think we the community can be civilized enough to agree as a sage you will be on the giving end a lot more than the receiving end I'm not saying the class is OP. I don't think it is in terms of healing or damage output. Just that it has a ton of utility and all of that utility comes from control via CC.
  3. This is a great design move. I'm saying this as someone who specs for cut on a vanguard just so when I'm about to die I can go into cheat mode and tab dot everything near an objective. Giving my team time to back my corpse up. This is a very cheesy strat that I'm glad bioware is taking away from me. It is better for the game.
  4. As a vanguard I'm going to say vanguard go figure. The class is so much fun in PVP and has a ton of utility if you just spec straight for it. (This would be power tech) I have a hard time playing alts I have so much fun on this class. This class is the annoying utility class. Playing 25/14/2 (search vanguard forums for "Ironfist") I get great survivability spamming taunts and moving my guard around as needed. A six second interrupt. A dot, less useful next patch but amazing atm. A charge(game changer in huttball). Decent damage. Harpoon with a snare attached. Stealth scan with a snare attached. More time off cyro grenade. I mean it is just a spec of absolute utility that makes you a game changer on the warfront. Can't do enough kart wheels about this class/spec. Screw glow bats pick up a blaster.
  5. What class are you playing at what level is a lot to do with it. If your on a scoundrel or operative healing at lower levels you have to feel useless. Like you come out of stealth to die. That is because that is exactly what happens. Same can be said for max level for that class to an extent. The only time I think that class shines as a healer in PVP is if it has a solid object to hump as they can be mobile if they have to be. Only problem is getting upperhand which I think most can agree is a mechanic that isn't working for that class in PVP right now(the healing version of that class) that was off topic just reading your thread made me think you played that class. As far as does it get better at higher levels? Yes. The big problem I see in PVP right now is there are two different PVP communities. people either seem to have full PVP sets and 17k + health or less than 14K HP and next to no expertise. The gear gap between centurion and battlemaster is a large gap compared to a minor bump from champion to battlemaster. For example in my full champion set I never feel out matched via gear by a battlemaster. I'd like to see the centurion gear at least buffed on HP if not all together because players just getting into the PVP game right now are quickly becoming shark bait(this is not fun). As far as the roll CC plays in this my point is as a vanguard in full champion I feel I survive fine even as a DPS spec. I think most classes survive fine. If your getting zerged 3 on 1 your supposed to die fast. That is called balance. The resolve bar does seem buggie to me some days but its hard to tell if thats just a PVP fury moment from close games or actual bugs. I also don't think snares are effected by resolve like the snare on my harpoon or a gunslinger/snipers snare. Things like this I don't like. I don't have a short answer to your question its a complicated one that can't be described in a quick one sentence whine fest but it depends on the class you play, the level you play it at and more importantly how you play it. Every class has CC, if your opponent uses it better they might deserve the win(after rereading this, I'm sry sent/mara I know a lied a bit). It could be possible they are a sage/sorc though. I mean lets be honest you guys knew that was coming If you have any more questions about your situation specifically can let us know your class level and spec and any situation your having trouble with.
  6. This, I usually vote for healers not because they fill some sacred roll that no other person can, but because as a tank with 10 medals I typically felt bad for the healer that actually focused on his role, did a crap ton of healing and a fantastic job(as in didnt DPS when people were dying near him for medals) and he comes out of the game with 4-5 medals. All of the PVP changes in 1.1.5 seem good. This one seems very good. PS: Stop giving a crap about your kill count. Really it is the last thing you should be focused on until they introduce a team death match(I pray they never do).
  7. While I agree Soa is not in a good spot the list of possible excuses for that are tiny and complete BS(like you said). Did you really go for the title the second week thinking you'd get it? Or just practicing a speed run as a guild? I hope the later I mean I agree with what your saying. I think Bioware has a lot riding on 1.2 which we haven't seen to much of minus the UI. Since march is tomorrow I hope this Friday update will be at least a teaser. I know I have a few core members in my guild who will let their account expire or renew it based on the content of 1.2. But yes I agree releasing a new teir of content with your old main boss still broken is not a good look. (no pressure bioware)
  8. My experience with this fight(I'm assuming HM or NM) is that south has to solve each stage before north. If south solves the last stage in one turn than it will bug regardless. Those are the only bugs my guild has found and we have one shotted it weekly for sometime on the assumption that we solve south first, and if south solves in one turn we walk out and reset.
  9. Just to add another voice, what these guys said is very true. We wiped on this guy for a bit when we first started in here than proceeded to one shot everything but the forth boss which took two or three attempts because the retarded tank(read: me) stood under that beam of fire like a champ. We don't really have a set in stone where to stand type strat. To me its a fight with dynamics that can change quickly. We just expect the range to spread out, but not to close to an edge, and avoid the melee as they follow the boss around when they can(as in range don't get clusted in the center). What our melee do(usually 4) is stay spread out enough from each other that if he turns on us we can tell who he is on, so we make a semi circle out of his cleave range. Than the rest do not run around him but run through his model(this is a very important detail). This is the fastest way out of his cleave box. If you have more than 4 melee(I'm counting 2 DPS, MT OT) than it can get really dicey. If your group is surviving to the enrage timer in tact with no deaths and your hitting 30% than it is a gear or spec issue. We cleared KP before we cleared EV as we came late to the raiding scene but we ran a lot of hard modes as a guild. So there was a lot of columi in the ops but you shouldn't need players decked out in rakata for a kill. Happy hunting.
  10. Jorgan in my experience. He isn't a tank just a ranged DPS but he can take some hits. He also does a very nice amount of AOE as you get higher in level. That being said I don't have a lot of experience using the robot so some may disagree.
  11. Is there a trooper hybrid spec that needs to be nerfed badly? Or is this just a YOU POPPED MY BALL NOW POP HIS rant?
  12. Your damage and your healing are fine in my opinion. The problem I have with sage/sorc is giving a good one to a player in Huttball mainly. A really good sorc on the other team can make a huge difference. If I told you there was a healer with: Friendly grip move. Short low CD dash that doesn't seem to be effected by the ball snare much. AoE knock back Ranged Stun Shields to prevent damage without stopping Range interrupt HoTs Battle Rez! Useless in pvp yes but my commando friend is sooo bitter he picked the one without a battle rez lol. I think you guys have a snare? Trade health for force. Regen system that allows for some burst healing without being totally useless after. Compare this to the laundry list of utility from a commando/merc or op/scoundrel. I could be wrong, but I think they may be green with envy. So I'm not saying this all needs to be nerfed. I'm not sure sorc/sage's need to be nerfed. I can say that playing in a lot of premades with vent I hear complaints about those things often. Your class if you want to admit it or not, has an insane amount of utility in this game. I don't play a commando or operative. But I wouldn't mind seeing a laundry list of useful things those healers can do in a PVP environment and how they measure up to yours. The only thing that annoys me about sages(personally) is really the dash in huttball. I honestly wish that was a Shadow only move but I'm not hellbent to stealing it from sorc's. When I see a sorc dash through a fire trap in huttball and take a bit of damage and blow a shield I'm just like Also I can tell you as a republic player. There is no more annoying feeling in this game than being a lightning rod. The sound, the animation, the snares, it annoys the crap out of me after so much time eating them lol. Now the good thing is really really good Sorc's are rare. For instance on Belgoths Beacon there is a really good sorc his name is Bearic(I might have screwed up spelling(karma)). As a guild we have figured out how to counter act this guy(or at least give us our best chance). We put a blaster on his head and we either avoid him and his friendlies or we put all our resources into making his life hell so he can't be effective. Which is what your supposed to do against a good player right? So working as intended I guess. Again I'm not jumping on the nerf bandwagon just trying to offer perspective from a shield vanguard on your class. I'm very happy with my class and in any match minus huttball(which I think is made worse by the empire being so sorc heavy) The class really doesn't offend my senses like op/scoundrel pre nerf did. I didn't read any post in this thread so hope all that was in context. I figure most of the post in this thread are YOUR CLASS IS OP! NO ITS NOT! So being bored decided to add what I thought. TLDR: I think some people feel the vast amount of utility sorc's have outweigh other caster classes, particularly healers. This leads some people to feel equal skill on a sorcerer does not render equal results to any other healer.
  13. EDIT because I was a derp. But the TLDR is PTFO. If you have one person on the door the rest need to spread out and CC towards the GY if possible.
  14. Tomorrow couldn't be soon enough. I think it is one of those features they know needs done but just need to do it. Kind of like /roll.
  15. The key thing in that phase is to group up. If you have a bounty hunter or trooper they can drop stealth scan and he never disappears letting you keep up on DPS. Other than that yes ignore the turrets but do break their shields. You need to run out if the missiles get on you anyway so mine as well break the turret shields so you don't have to die once you kill HK. If you do not have a Stealth Scan than you need to pull him out of stealth with AoE, so still group up and AoE. He needs to be hit before he ambushes a party member.
  16. B- Game has been a lot of fun. This is my first time coming to the forums and reading anything besides dev post since launch. I must say you negative guys are comical. Every MMO launch forum looks like this. The game is new people who enjoy it are out playing it not coming here. I just hit 50 last night leveling up with a friend and we have had a ton of fun with him playing dark and me playing light. B- is for the bugs I don't think losing 1/5 your total score is unreasonable for the amount and annoyance of bugs currently. The game play is fun from my perspective. Did anyone really buy this game expecting it to be a revolutionary MMO as far as mechanics? That is like buying Battlefield 3 and complaining its like Counter Strike. I mean time will tell 3 weeks in your grade really doesn't matter. I don't know if a game could have been worse off than DCUO was 3 weeks in and now its making money for SOE.
