  1. -If I need to, for whatever reason, reside in aoe. -Escaping a situation in stealth. -Avoiding "Hulk Smash"ers -When fighting other classes that use force/tech damage. As a tank, a lot of times I'll put myself in a situation in big fights where I know I'll be getting hit a lot, and use Resilience. It gives the rest of the team a few seconds where they're not getting hit. A lot of times, this situation will come up with Sorcs. If I see a few of them, I'll use my own aoes and taunts to get them to attack me, then use Resilience. -When I'm carrying the ball in Huttball and I'm near the goal, to prevent stuns. I may have missed a few situations, but that about covers it.
  2. Yes, I'm looking forward to playing Tactics again after the update. But in my mind this spec is still very odd. Does anyone else find it weird that for a spec with insane mobility, it's main damage dealer is a move that requires you to stand in place for 3s?
  3. I'm partial to the Commando's Maelstrom set you get from the Taral V flashpoint. I just completed it for the first time the other day and got both the Head and Chest pieces. Its a great mix of orange and grey and has a real cool look to it.
  4. Shin, I am a Battlemaster Infiltration Shadow, and have finally been getting my gear the way I want it. Right now, I have about a 30% crit chance and 77% crit multiplier. Is this a bad idea? I have a lot less power than most shadows, I think, but i figured more crits would contribute to good burst. What is your opinion on this? Is power going to always be better to stack than crit, because our burst comes from basically auto-crits with Force Potency?
  5. As far as Huttball goes, I think Infil is really strong as a ball carrier, if you play it right. stealthing to a point where you can receive a pass is very effective, as well as good speed and resilience. and I really agree wholeheartedly with Cubertt about the idea of the role you play. Infil will not usually get highest dmg or other stats but when played smart can be extremely useful. I just think that as a fresh 50 you can't play to your role's full potential.
  6. Thanks Shagatha. It"s good to know I'm not the only one who feels that way.
  7. I just got to level 50, and it has been tough. I have been Infiltration specced for my whole leveling experience, and pre-50 I felt very confident in pvp and did pretty well. My problem now is I feel like I hit like a dainty feather. So I am thinking of respeccing for the early stages of being level 50. Eventually I want to switch back to Infiltration, but for the moment I think that the increased survivability and uptime will be better. So, I'm looking for advice on whether this is a good idea and what spec I should use.
  8. I have a question about Situational Awareness. When going up the skill tree, you are required to have 5 skill points in the current tier to advance to the next highest tier. But I see most specs skip Situational Awareness. I'm just wondering what order I should be applying my talents to do that?
  9. Well, for one thing, was the 6.5k hit an isolated incident? Was he doing that kind of damage consistently? If he was able to keep that up over a few GCDs then that would be pretty crazy, but I've found that Shadows are real good at keeping crits going. Like earlier today, I had three crits in a row that each hit for 3k+, and killed the person from those three moves. So if the marauder was able to keep up the 6.5k hits I would say that is unfair, but if it is something of a rare occurrence, that wouldn't be so bad.
  10. Earlier today I was fighting some kind of BH with my Infiltration Shadow on Voidstar. i got him pretty low, but he went for the healing thing at the side of the level, putting him to about 90% hp. I hit him with Clairvoyant Strike to put me at two stacks, then hit him with low slash. I popped Force Potency, Power Relic, and Expertise adrenal. I hit him with Project for 3k+, then Force Breach for 3k+, then Spinning strike for 3k+ to kill him. It made me happy. You can't always do stuff like that, but the burst that Infiltration provides is a lot of fun to play around with. And coming from a Sentinel, all the cc and utility is fun to use, too.
  11. So I'm a level 45 Sentinel right now and my experience has been mixed. I decided very early on to play a Sentinel, as dual wielding and lightsaber prowess seemed very appealing. And I have enjoyed playing the class. But I have been extremely frustrated at certain points Part of it has been an L2P issue as this is my first mmo. But it has been a very difficult learning experience. In the early levels I died like crazy. The boss fight against Valis was incredibly hard for me until I finally learned the value of interrupts. It was a good lesson, but a hard one to learn after not really using them until that point. But whatever, I learned from the experience. The main point that confuses me is the varying difficulty I've been facing. Once I got Doc, things improved, but I still face weird situations. Like how I still fear mobs. I feel confident in fighting bosses, but it's getting to the bosses that is the hard part. On a couple occasions, I've died several times fighting all the lackeys leading up to a boss fight, then kill the boss on the first try and end that fight with full health. I suppose that is just the way I am playing, but it is so much work sometimes to complete the quests. Boss fights kind of lose their sense of threat and awe when they are the easy part. I won't talk too much about specific character things like lack of utility and having a whole lot of abilities to use very often. People have that covered quite well. And I haven't even tried committing myself to PvP yet. I just love playing this class and going through the story, which has been superb so far. But the crazy learning curve and imo inconsistent difficulty level associated with the class has been frustrating and detracts from the enjoyment of the game. Certainly not enough to make me stop playing the character, but enough that I needed a break from it, even so close to achieving lvl 50. Sorry for the rant, but I hope this adds a little perspective to how serious we all feel about the situation and how it affects the experience.
  12. Thanks for the input Rorty. What about Cyclone Slash? I forgot about that one.
  13. So I am a Level 34 Sentinel, Watchman spec. I feel like I am getting down a good priority system with generating/spending focus and keeping my DoTs going. But that has left me with a few moves that I do not use very often. Leg Slash, Crippling Throw, Pommel Strike, Opportune Strike, and Bladestorm. Of all of those, I suppose Bladestorm would be the most useful from what I've read, but I would just like fellow Watchman's opinions on how useful they are and where to use them. And I do mostly PvE, if that helps.
