  1. On page 5 the OP rephrases the question into whether Sith philosophy is evil, so that was pretty much what I based my answer on. However, if we follow your line of thought by including Sith culture into our judgement, then we must be clear that culture and philosophy are two distinct concepts. Sith culture is 'bad' in terms of western standards of ethics as so many have pointed out. Even by the classical standards of utilitarianism where the goals justify the means, sith culture of behavior is ethically bad. Actions that would increase the overall satisfaction of the Empire would be deemed morally good, however SIth culture seems to also encourage individuals to satisfy their own interests at the expense of its community by imposing harm onto fellow citizens (thus bad). I also agree with your post regarding Sith culture being a defunct-version of social-Darwinism. It seems as the contradictions within Sith culture tends to push Sith society into a Hobbesian state of nature, where all individuals war against each other. As we see in-game, the Empire has legal rules of conduct, but in practice there is constant scheming with the likely potential of death to the one who looses. An argument could be made that the constant-scheming is restricted to the "elite" of the society (force users and higher military command) and not to the masses in general. Yet who would actually want to live in such a society where tomorrow could very well be your last? Whether one is a force-user or not, the average person X with some degree of rationality combined with a will to survive is not going to passively overlook that the **** is going to hit the fan. Though, one could wonder whether being a force-user (or perhaps just being dark-sided) distorts rationality. When Anakin went darkside he seemed to become quite the nutbag.
  2. When reading through the 6 lines that form the Sith code, what I get is that through power and strength one gains true freedom. The code doesn't dictate what one should do with that power, but if we interpret the actions of those who do follow the Sith code we see quite alot of actions that we by our standards deem evil. However, hypothetically, say that I follow the Sith code and by myself have alot of power (eg forcepowers), but that I choose to live out my life alone on some remote planet while being happily satisfied . Does it mean that I or the Sith code is evil? My point is interpretation of a 'philosophy' combined with ones actions blurs the matter. Take the writings of Hegel or Rousseau, there have been different interpretations and subsequent actions based on those interpretations (eg formation of authoritarian states), doesn't necessitate that the philosophy of Hegel or Rousseau are by definition evil. Tbh, if we are going to call the Sith code a philosophy, then it would be the most shallow philosophy ever.
  3. - Agree that slash is your low priority ability and a filler Should have mentioned that I run with my talents into defensive roll (aoe damage reduction) for EC normal/HM to relieve pressure off my healers. However, I do find it perfectly fine to run with the +15 crit chance for slash for EV & KP normal/HM runs since they are ridic easy (for my usual team), that I find it justifiable to shift points from survivability to maximize damage output.
  4. Let me also add that when you have all your talent-points available to you at 50, a viable option is dumping some points into the focus tree for the +15% critical chance for slash. For my sentinel, that equated to regular 2k crits in operations.
  5. Your merciless slash has higher priority then slash, but slash doesn't become obsolete - just less used & more situational. Both merciless slash and slash can reset your cauterize CD.
  6. My pommelstrikes have gone up to 5k - for the sake of balance, no thank you.
  7. You think you have it down, then you get cocky and WHAM - one mistake and its all over.
  8. Cant decide if your joking or not. Assuming you are a sentinel, then: Legslash - level 16 ability, costs 2 bars, reduces target movement speed by 50% for 12 seconds. Problem fixed.

    Mar/Sents

As a sentinel (watchman) I agree something should be changed. For starters, perhaps they oughta put the ravager/master focus talent (2/2 talent points increase damage by 8% and reduces CD by 3) bit higher up their respective trees?
  10. First off, your level 29. Second, your focus spec - which has aoe emphasis. Combat is burst damage, but its underpowered. The notorious 1 vs 1 spec is watchman. And again, your level 29 - so you are pretty much lacking decent abilities and you can expect to be quite squishy for a while longer. Pre-50 pvp was somewhat fun when I played, but the real results will come when your level 50.
  11. Sentinels/Marauders can vanish for 4 seconds. In pve its our aggro dump, and depending on talents can also make us invulnerable to damage for the duration as well. In pvp its pretty nifty to escape or other tactical moves eg. distance reducer on a ranged that knocked you away.
  12. Im just guessing we'll be seeing recipes for better enchancements and offhand stuff, considering atm you can get equal enchancements from ilum daily and crafted offhand gear is pretty crap.
  13. However, if eg. a columi token drops it's base class specific, not advanced class specific. So if a columi chest token drops from false emperor, both sentinels and guardians can roll since it's for Jedi Knights in general. As for my own experience as a sentinel, never experienced being excluded for being a sentinel. 2-3 times I have been dropped due to a groups desire to get a balance between melee/ranged. However, the problems of my server rather relates to a general low republic population rate.
  14. I'd recommend going for another server, but also note that servers likely have a faction imbalance as well. I myself play on a (EU) server which usually is on normal during the evenings (GMT+1), but light during the day. However, with the faction imbalance the republic side is somewhat empty. Pretty much whole of february, republic fleet normally stays between a range of 25-35 online.
