  1. I transferred over from Ebon Hawk for the very reasons you mentioned. This server has way faster queue times and plenty of good action in unranked. I can't comment on ranked because I don't enjoy 4v4 and avoid it. It's about 50/50 on the unranked games, which is about what you'd hope for. Yeah, you get win and loss streaks, occasionally there are steamrolls, but it all evens out. I have zero regrets about moving my characters. The repub premades on Hawk sucked the fun out of it for me too, and yeah, this server is much better. Because it's so populous even if you and a pack of randoms get rolled by some TS tryhard team you're not super likely to have to fight them over and over again every single match.
  2. Healer spec can, it's a talent called Sith Purity. Lets you cleanse physical dots with your existent dot cleanse.
  3. We had the same discussion in guild last night about the high credit price of entry WZ gear causing a gold-farming rush. Although there is an easy solution. Allow the new entry 50 gear to also be purchased (pre-50) with WZ/Merc Comms, just like the 20/40 gear. A toon that leveled through PvP (which isn't very profitable) would have a full set, instead of being penalized for not farming credits. Granted, even if they do nothing to change the situation it's superior to what it is now. However, not giving multiple avenues to get the gear seems poorly conceived/thought out.
  4. As someone who plays an operative and assassin I would totally support this change. My ability to throw a pug game or win a pre-made vs pre-made game is directly related to which class I'm on. My assassin is a king of huttball. Force Speed, Knockback, Offensive pull, stealth. My operative can kill people and...kill people. The amount of "teamwork" and "skill" either side can display is based on their composition in huttball, far more than any other map. It's not balanced property for all classes, and nerfing/changing classes based on one WZ map is stupid. Instead the WZ map should be updated. Putting a buff/debuff on the ball carrier making them move at a fixed speed and being immune to all controlling effects is a great balancer. Charge should make you drop the ball, just like stealth does. You should be treated as in "cover" for the purpose of pulls and knockbacks.
  5. You are doing it wrong. If you had no fun PvP'ing but the gear carrot on a stick is so enticing to you that it kept you doing it, you might want to try free to play games. They always have a million and one things you can throw money at to improve your character.
  6. Yeah, Bioware gets mad props from me. I bought this game to tide me over until GW2 (Gear meaningless in PvP) but it's looking like I might be around a long time with these types of changes. I don't care much about gear. It's nice to be able to get small upgrades, but roflstomping someone who can't even damage me is boring as hell. The direction bioware is going, there will be alot of great competitive PvP in ToR for the forseeable future. If I can log in after work and have competitive matches for a few hours before bed, I'm a happy gamer and they can get their subscription money. I don't derive any sense of self-worth from this game, it's entertainment. Anyone who is butthurt that their current 50's (I have one, 2 by the time 1.2 rolls out) are having gear obsoleted need to reassess what they are doing with their life.
  7. Often they are guarded if healers, and if not they are receiving heals from guarded healers. I'm not saying it's impossible or I can't kill them, it's just harder and less efficient to kill most classes on my sniper versus either my operative or assassin. If their spacial awareness is as good as mine is, I'm unlikely to kill them, unless they wander into my LOS while low on health fleeing from another fight; or my positioning/scenario is perfect to force them to confront me in an open area. My sniper is forced to re-target different people alot, my operative and assassin do the same or better damage but I actually kill whoever I target the vast majority of the time. To me, finishing off the target I wanted instead of doing 5k more damage but split over 3 people, is more satisfying. Your mileage may vary. The experience at 50 was significantly different than 1-49. In the lower bracket WZ's HP's and mitigation hadn't caught up to DPS; so many of the issues that limit my enjoyment of the class at 50 do not apply.
  8. The reason I don't play my 50 sniper anymore is that I don't enjoy lethality/engineering and marksman (weapon damage) is extremely sub-par against targets in heavy armor. More often than not on my server at least half the republic team is troopers, then throw in a guardian for good measure, and I've only got 2-3 people out of 8 I can do respectable damage to, but one of those is probably a stealther, leaving me 1-2 optimal targets. Sure, I rock against that 12-25% of their team, if they don't understand how to LOS. However, I'm worse than any of my other characters against the rest; and without stealth, speed, or any other methods to force a fight; there is no way to single out the people I can kill efficiently.
  9. I've PvP'd/class story'd my first character to 50, another to 40, and working on 3rd. I don't like grinding though, so I've been waiting on a level cap introductory PvP set that doesn't require being useless for any length of time to play my characters that cap. I can wait for them to add (pre-50 purchasable) level 50 pvp sets, or something else to come out. No skin off my back either way.
  10. I parked one of my alts at 40 in the hopes of gearing them some before dinging 50. I guess it was pointless given the valor requirement and the fact that your valor level is still capped at your current level. On that character I've had 1000Merc/1000WZ and a champ bag in the bank since level 25 or so. I've been buying medpacks/stims since then. I have alot of them... I also have a full set of expertise mods to socket into my level 40 pvp set later on that I stripped out of weapons.
  11. I know, Bioware is totally going the right direction on these patches. Now I can level up my alts in peace and have fun with all of them in 50 warzones straightaway, since getting and keeping them competitively geared will be a non-issue. The best part? There will be alot more rated games going come 1.2 instead of it just being full of cheeto dust covered basement dwellers.
  12. OP is overdramatic, but it would be cool to see PvP vendors sell crafting schematics and/or special mats. It would give crafting a place in PvP as well as PvE. If each crew skill gave 1 best in slot item in both PvE and PvP it would go far towards fixing the fact that everyone at cap is biochem.
  13. Gear shouldn't be a significant factor in PvP, and only bad players think it should be. If you want exclusive shinies for grinding more than other people go join a PvE Raid Progression guild and do world firsts. You'll be a snowflake for at least a week before everyone else catches up.
  14. Heh, you've obviously never queued as a level 11. It sucks not having sprint but they bolster the tiny # of abilities you do have to rediculous damage, and you tend to have over 13k HP. So, upsides? Crazy damage on a small rotation, high defense/hp Downsides? Very limited defensive cooldowns/utility tldr? It's fine as is. I've leveled 3 chars WZ exclusive now, and I have no problems being in the top 3 damage/healing with a level 11 character.
  15. It's a bug that happens to presumably all Snipers/Gunslingers and Operatives/Scoundrels. On the sniper it's quite helpful although you look like a dog cleaning it's butt on carpet, on the operative it's annoying as heck, because quite likely you won't have your primary attacks bound into the cover bar. It usually fixes itself when you die.
