  1. If you close out of the server select and go back to it, you will see it is greyed out. https://www.swtor.com/server-status Thats their server status if you want a reference to check back on
  2. Been away a long time, so forgive me for the question but... When servers crash, how long do they usually take to bring them back up? I'm not too worried it will be long as I assume they are all in the office right now and are working on it now (I'm sure), but was wondering if the average time is like 5 minutes, 30 mins 2 hours etc. Like WoW seems to be between 5 and 10 mins, FFXIV is usually 2 mins or so, UO is like hours at a time etc
  3. Maybe they will attempt to 1 up wow in this one... small... thing..
  4. I am seriously done. You can browse the PTS forums and see tons of problems/ bugs that people are currently having with the update. LOTS and LOTS of problems. They have all been submitted, if they patch this 1.3 then it is a clear sign that they DO NOT care about the state of the live servers to me, and that will be the very last straw I can take from this game. I have stayed since launch, waited patiently for the "oh s*** we need to recover now" phase, which they have already gone through later than expected, and now is the "clean up our act" phase. If they don't get it right, several subs will be lost.. yet :jawa_tongue:
  5. I don't... I say Star wars old republic... Im not too lazy to turn 1 second into 1/2 a second.
  6. Well let's think about this. Is there a in-game guild merge feature... no. How would you merge your guild? You would have to quit your current guild, and then get an invite from the new guild. So, the answer is, it stays with your guild. I highly advise either pulling it all out, or getting an alt promoted to guild leader or you will lose all your stuff.
  7. What do they need to speak up in this post about? All information that has been asked by the TC has been answered in it already, and can easily be found by typing the question out on google.. its not rocket science here, it's business. Yes the company that made this game is not the original bioware team (duh...), nor was it crated primarily in bioware HQ, it was a subdivision, in Austin, made up of groups of people from fail MMOs and MMOs that don't exist anymore, and a few writes from HQ that left right after they were done w/ their inputs into the script. Simple.
  8. Wrong... You can get the bracers/belt and put armoring in it, Grade 25/26 armorings DO drop in raids, and are not bound by piece, only the ones you rip OUT of the raid gear (Which you cant take mods out of the raid belt/bracers anyways) are bound by slots. Same with PVP gear. The reason this is so expensive, is because it allows you to grab a marauder set ON your say.. idk... Jedi Counciler... go into your stash of columi/battlemaster gear, rip the mods out of that, place it in your orange legacy marauder armoring you just bought, fill it up nice and pretty, and send your newly hit 50 marauder some raid gear / pvp gear. Of course this is very expensive, as it should be for what you are able to use it for. Hope that answers your question unlike the poster above.
  9. What is the most populated server in game... Oh a PVP one. Why? Because the other pvp servers that look like their population is hurting, is because they got tired of waiting 15 minutes for a PVP Warzone Que to pop up, so they rolled on a server where it is damn near instant. You wonder why they want to add more focus to PVP? Because A LARGE amount of the playerbase is centered purely around it. PVE content is a given, a guarantee that more PVE based additions/updates will be seen than anything. It is a must in a MMO and will be here as well, when they say that they are going to focus on PVP, it is because they have recently stated that they WILL NOT focus on PVP and it is not their top priority, and saw a huge dip in the subs of avid PVPERS. To get them back, they fabricate a lie. They are very Two-faced here... and you can just read the news page and dev updates to see that. A lot of what they have said, and then changed their minds, has dissapeared. The ORIGINAL post about the free 30 days, basically said anyone who wasn't subbed since day 1 was NOT A VALUED CUSTOMER. That went well in PR I am sure, and it was taken off the main page in less than 24 hours. The original dev blogs that had 3 primary developers of the game say They did not care what the fans though of the game, or what they wanted/requested, got ripped down in under a week. That was a big deal pre-launch that lost them a few subs I'm sure. So before you get your panties in a wad, go back through the updates and show me where you see PVP being in the top 3 of priority lists. A new warzone... really? Its a small open ended map with 3 nodes that is the exact same concept as civil war only you require 2 of the 3 to do anything... wow, such innovation and focus went into that. So much that cross-server Que and Ranked PVP made it's way in... *rolls eyes*
  10. Can't just TURN sandbox at max level, it either is, or isnt.
  11. You call Everquest and Ultima Online a failure? WoW was the first REAL successful themepark MMO. It's continued success is because of all the kiddies it appealed to and ease of learning curve that got millions of people to actually TRY out a MMO for the first time. Everyone always goes back to their first real MMO, so it is no surprise that WoW stays a giant among MMOs, because when it came out, is around the time that MMO's were actually picking up speed, and the amount of people it drew to the genre, many of which were first time MMOers, caused them to only scale higher and higher in sales and subscriptions. If you look at WoW's sales model, WoW has several people that come back 2-3 times a year to play a little, only to realise it is still the same game and eventually quit again. Out of the poles and studies that people have done on the forums, it is a fact that majority of the people that re-subbed, did so because WoW was the first MMO they really played, and you can never replace that kind of sparkle a MMO gives off with your first one. My first? Ultima online. I got back at least once a year. I played about 6 MMO's before I touched wow. Was immediately turned off by the linear gameplay, and the ease of play. The lack of true diversity and skill got me to quit playing it way before my first 30 days were up. I gave the account to a friend and dusted my hands off. Close to 6 years later, I haven't ever looked back. I just see the result of it's success on every MMO I turn to. You can never kill MMOs that have a big base of "first timers". It is impossible.
  12. I like what you are attempting to do, I really do, but here is my question for you. You left behind your previous character... so what do you plan on doing with it? When the server transfers/merges come, do you honestly think Bioware is going to open the gates to any server of your choosing? I am quite sure the servers with already booming populations are going to be OFF LIMITS. The reasoning behind this is, everyone and their mom will roll to either the highest popuplated PVP, PVE, or RP server. Leaving 3-4 servers the only viable solutions. The people that do not transfer at this time, or roll new characters at the time will then be screwed over by lack of population. The more likely scenario of events will be that Bioware takes set groups of servers, and offers them 2-3 servers to transfer to. What if your server is not on this selected list? That is when the payed transfers will come into play, but that will probably be a few months after the initial free transfer/merge. Now, All I am saying is, the appeal for me to re-roll onto a more populated server is definitely there, but I refuse to give up my 3 50s, and 85 million I have accumulated so far. So, I twiddle my thumbs and wait for the information to come from bioware.
  13. The poll has already come and gone, and most of the people here are more focused on the PVP side rather than the PVE side... There's a reason you hear so much about the fatman server... just sayin'. The biggest thing I hear people on my servers say they want to transfer there for, is so that they dont have to wait 20-40 minutes for a warzone que to pop up.
  14. I agree, why make things require Legacy level 30 or so, only to ask them to cough up another 4 mil in credits as well. I'm all for credit sinks, but I feel the legacy system should not be the focus of where those credits go to. That's a ruse and a sham to hype the legacy system so much pre-1.2 and the to find out on the PTS that things costs millions of credits is absurd. It's not like they aren't aware that all servers economies outside of the top 4-5 are a joke. Nothing on my server sells for much as is, the best in slot augmented campaign implant is going for under a mil... on fatman, it prolly is sitting at 15-20 mil easy.
  15. They launched with 1.8M people roughly correct? Numbers now say 1.3M Subscribers. At launch, they did not have European servers up. If you look at the number 1.3M now, that DOES include Europe subscribers as well. I am assuming there would be at LEAST 300-400k subscribers in Europe currently. (Anyone have the correct number for this?) So if we take them out of the current sub total of 1.3, we would be at 950kish if not less depending on how many subs are added in from the Europe side. That is roughly half of the subs gone, more if you count the amount of people that have started playing since launch that weren't included in the original 1.8. So that's after a 5 month run so far correct? Theres still plenty more losses to be had. EA's press release for Q4 earnings and planning shows that the game is on a downward spike for revenue... and that there is 2 expansions (whether that would be paid or free updates like 1.2) coming in Q1 (Business Q1, aka Q4 for us so the end of 2012). Whats your take on all this information?
  16. the reply was a bug that showed up after 1.2 was dropped.. Where did you get those notes now?
  17. Yay, thanks again for adding to the reason of why the OP is posting in the first place. Instead of also voicing out to encourage bioware to fix problems, we simply tell those that are driven to the edge of staying or going, to go. It is your kind that have a lot to do with the 3 people on each planet at 33 people on fleet @ peak. yay for you!
  18. So please tell me why this game is in the middle stages of dying out? It isn't because of content, there actually is quite a bit of that. What could it be I wonder...?
  19. no no that's not what I expect at all. But to be working on a MMO for that long, with over a year of "pushbacks" on launch date, and tons of beta testing time that went into lots and lots of reporting of bugs... They should not have launched in December is what I am saying. And because they decided to launch with all this bugs, while most are minor, have caused a lot of people to stop playing. It isn't the lack of content, that's just the easiest thing to cry about for people to have a reason to quit... its the annoyance. The Annoyance of attempting progression in a flashpoint, or operation or something only to have it bug out on you 3-4 times is annoying and will make you quit. Having quests not want to complete, or glitch out to the point where its 3-4 each planet will make you want to quit. Inventory items that are usable that are greyed out, is an annoyance which will slowly make you quit. Companion overlay being bugged for over a month, warzones popping up saying they are ready, only to boot you when you enter, finding a new bug a day for the first month of lauch. All these attribute to people quitting before their "paid" time starts up. Now we suffer, and you hear the pleas of those that suffered through it and continue to suffer through it beg for server merges... (which has only been slightly touched on by bioware recently) has caused people to quit. Being one of 3 people on any planet while leveling your alt and not being able to do the quests you want to do (which is a result from 1 person quitting over reason A. One person quitting over reason B. etc etc), has now caused more people to quit. Sure there are people who enjoy the game (myself), and those that wish that they could have stayed, but were too annoyed by some bug or feature that was not in the game (which is no excuse for a triple A 2012 MMO that cost as much to make as this game did not to have). I am simply stating, that when people post a negative topic on this game, the fanboys jump out of the bushes screaming "Yeah this game has bugs, all games do". Yes they are right, but most other games would have fixed their problems by now or suffered the same fate we are suffering now in this community. Sure some games have semi-bounced back, but most stay barren, or go free to play, or get taken over by another company who attempts to fix the problems.... But think back, How many MMO's have you played that you wished was better in a few aspects, and you quit because of these problems. You might of had it in your head to go back and play at some point, but that never happened, or when it did, even though the problems you had were fixed, not many people want to jump on board of a 2 year old train. The only people you can almost guarantee WILL come back are those who this was their first MMO. Statistically, you will always go back tot he first real MMO you played multiple times. Sadly, that is why WoW is still around and holding strong, but besides that, Chinese gold farmers pay for the servers (lawl).
  20. I am tired of seeing the same argument. "Game XYZ had bugs too, their servers were down for 3 whole days!". "Such and such had a bug where you couldn't alt tab without crashing". yadda yadda.... Your right, tons of other MMOs had bugs. And tons of other MMOs failed because of those bugs. Sever MMO's had bugs, but small MINOR bugs like a graphical error here, or the wrong text there. Most bugs were corrected within a week of being found. Let's check on star wars' bugs. There is still over 50 bugs that I reported IN BETA that are still around today. That's a lot. Every patch, something else breaks not even relating to the patch notes. Soa is still buggy. The VERY FIRST operations end boss.. How is that even possible? Tons of quests either failing to update, or not letting me talk to whom I need to talk to, forcing me to reset is still an issue, most of them require me to be in a group, which is very rare in this game, but it is still around. The list could go on for days.... Server status is fine, that was a good job by them, but You have a shiny pair of wheels on a beat up car, and it still looks like crap.Customer Service.. a joke. Player to Developer interaction? Scripted. So yeah, most MMO's when they launch do have bugs, a small glitch that prevents you from completing one quest, or an issue where an NPC won't trigger an event or something along those lines, Look at the patch notes since launch and see how many bugs have been fixed. Then think about the amount of bugs that have shown up after they fixed bugs that weren't relating to them. Remember when 1.2 dropped and you couldn't log out of the game? Awesome. Replies.. those are still broken, minor tweaks seem to be made every update, yet nothing is said about it in the patch notes. Imperial Agent cover system was broke for about 2 weeks after 1.2, and slowly it's been getting better/patched here and there, with no mention of it at all. So yeah, look at the HUGE list of bug fixes, then realise that is probably a fraction of what has had to be fixed and caused by the company themselves. They cause more bugs than fix in my opinion.
  21. Too bad not enough people played SWG for it to keep it's doors open. Bad choices near launch caused lots of people to quit... wait that is happening here. I guess we do have a little SWG in SWTOR after all.
