Well, I just recently hit 50. I've been playing the game since about September and let me start off with I love this game. The story is good, the game play is what I expect and with the new interface stuff it's a very fun game. My only really lynch pin in the whole thing is the loading screens. I am not playing on a good computer by no means, so I expect a few hiccups here and there. But even with everything set completely LOW graphics-wise, it's still taking forever to do anything in the game.
With MMOs in general the grind has to have a rhythm to it. So that you can just zone out and get the stuff you need done in order to move on with the game. I did some timing yesterday on an almost 2 hour play session. Nearly 20-25 minutes of that was load screen. Example:
- Log in: took nearly 3 minutes to get to my character selection screen
- Select Character: 5-7 minutes to load into Corellia. Load screen sits at about 25% for most that time... then the music loads... then it finally loads in. Plus add another minute or so for the world to populate enough just so I can run around at about 15-20 FPS.
- Start playing. Everything is fine until the inevitable companion wanting to speak to me on my ship, or the questline takes me off planet only to have to return to the planet (flying to the Sith lords ship and back 3? times). This starts the load in process all over again.
I completely understand why the load screens are there. We can't have a completely open world set up like other MMOs, doesn't make sense. But it's frustrating to play sometimes. Cause I'll want to jump in to play for a few hours and by the second load screen, I am grabbing a guitar or hitting up facebook or something on my phone to pass the time. My play sessions the past few months have been under 20 minutes at a time cause I'd get annoyed and log out. No matter how compelled to the story I was drawn.
Anyway, I hope this isn't taken as a "hate the game" thread. Cause it's not meant to be. I love the game and I will continue to play off and on for a while to come. But I just needed to vent a bit on that one major issue for me in the game.
