  1. Massive misuse of resources. I keep hearing that. Are you sure? How much do you get paid to spend an afternoon or two reading words into a microphone? Because, seriously, it's clear they knocked the dialog out pretty systematically (see posts above about voice actors not really being in character, so all it took was one good take per line). And don't tell me that the lipsynching or integration of audio cost a bunch. It is not hard to make a sound file play, and they bought the lipsynching algorithms from someone else. I'm sure that was expensive, but if you're going to do voiceovers, you might as well do lipsynchs. So, Yes, they took some time to record some stuff, which was written by some guys that would have written that text anyway. How much of the ridiculous budget on this game actually went to the actors? Do we know that?
  2. Well, maybe the title is exaggerating a little. I do have other issues with the game, but for the moment, I'd like to set those aside and talk about color crystals. My big question: WHY ARE COLOR CRYSTALS ALIGNMENT BOUND!?!? I could almost understand a faction bound color crystal system. This would fit the lore (Sith craft their own crystals, so they're mostly red, Jedi find them in nature, so color variance is more common, etc) but it would still have problems. The problems have to do with blasters. Blasters in both the films and KotOR seem to largely be red-beam colored. The problem is, it's impossible for a lightsided character to have a red-beamed blaster. Similarly, we all remember that in the films, the bad guys had green lasers, which we can duplicate here. I could understand certain particularly good crystals being alignment bound, but for every random crystal that isn't yellow? I really wish that color crystals didn't have alignment-limitations except in very particular circumstances (special crystals, etc). That way, we actually conform with the lore in a way that makes sense (several canon lightside Jedi had red lightsabers, Lobacca and Leia for instance). It also gives players more flexibility in customizing one of the most iconic pieces of the IP. I know it won't happen right away, but at some point in the future, I'd really like to have color crystals be just that, color. Something to customize your character and set him apart a bit, not something to indicate your alignment.
  3. When I heard about the Legacy system, I started racking my brains for a solution that would work RP-wise. Here's what I have: The Kildares are a loose affiliation of orphans from planets across Hutt space. The 'family' as it is called, was founded on Nar Shaddaa about a generation ago, by a gang of orphans living in the slums of the moon. Not long after being founded, several members were captured and enslaved. However, they maintained the family, bringing other orphans they met elsewhere into the fold. Though many of the Kildares have now grown up and moved on, they still remember their humble beginnings. Some have escaped Hutt space, and now work for themselves, for the Republic, or for the Empire. Most maintain the surname 'Kildare', for one reason or another. Basically, the story of the Kildares lets me have characters with my Legacy name of different races and factions. The family isn't one of blood, but of choice. When it doesn't fit with a particular character as I create him/her, I'll just turn the name off.
  4. Guild Name: The Infinity Veil RP Level: Medium Faction: Republic Who to contact: Me (see my sig) or the Guildmaster, Miles. About the guild: We are an entirely legitimate, privately own freighter carrying cargo, salvage, and the occasional passenger across space. Crew members are payed a fair share of the princely earnings made by the Veil. NOTE: The Infinity Veil and her Captain are not responsible for the actions of her crew when not on board the vessel. Please direct all complaints to the particular perpetrator. [OOC] We're a smallish guild playing as a band of miscreants trying to make a few credits in a hard galaxy. Expect wacky hijinks, hare-brained plans, and the rare fire fight. We welcome all classes and credos, from the saintly Vanguard to the most sinful Shadow. Hope to see you all in game!
  5. Hey! I'm an active RPer on Rubat Crystal. I'm a member of an RP guild called Infinity Veil. I'm sure we could organize something together. I'm always excited to group up and run some quests IC with fellow RPers, so send a /tell to Antark or Erral (or anyone in the Legacy Kildare). Hope to see you around!
  6. Each of the healing classes is fully capable of being a party's main healer. The differences are in the peripheral abilities, I think. Scoundrel has stealth and cover mechanics, making it easier to last longer, for instance. Another difference is how their power works. Sages rely on the Force. This is much like a Scoundrel's tech power, but tech power has the nice effect of increasing more quickly when your reserve is mostly full. Commandos, on the other hand, have ammo, which means that their resources are managed a little bit differently from the classes which have big pools of numbers to work with. Honestly, it's mostly a matter of preference. I like stealth, so I went Scoundrel, but others may just not be able to pass up a lightsaber or trooper armor. It's up to you.
  7. You can get schematics for modable armor from quest drops and from certain Mission Skills (Underworld Trading does for sure, I think Treasure Hunting does as well?). I have a fistful of orange Synthweaving schematics I'm giving to my Jedi alt, and I have made a couple of snazzy orange helmets from a schematic I got from Underworld Trading. Check the GTN, I would imagine some are on sale there.
  8. Yes, yes, and yes. One of my biggest gripes about TOR immersion is that we have all of this technology, but we can't access our mail from a datapad? This is a society where paper is rare and kinda treated similar to the way we treat stone tablets: old, outdated artifacts of interest mostly as history (see that one quest on Taris over land ownership for example). Similarly, sometimes we can call people with our handy holocommunicator. Other times we can't. This seems kind of random. For instance, Risha in Smuggler Act I could totally give more instructions by holocom, she pops into my conversations often enough. However, I've also had to go back to my ship for no reason other than to talk to her. Why would I do that? Finally, mounts. I know that we all want to be able to go fast all the time. There are, however, some places where I just think we would probably get shot for riding around on a hoverbike (cantina in the fleet, for instance).
  9. As far as the Chiss quest is concerned, I remember there being a line to recover it in beta. Something like "I know you're angry we killed one of your people, but we really do still need to be allies". I think I actually said something to the effect of "Why do you expect me to work against my own people". Mind you, this was several months ago.
  10. Great, I'll check there next time I'm by. Thanks!
  11. I've seen this question asked a few times in General Chat, but I haven't seen it answered. Where do we go to turn in Flee Commendations?
